This is who I would have or Butland to replace De Gea.Schmeichel Anyone?

I'm going to say it quietly but it may well be Jack Butland if his return from injury continues successfully. He was getting right up there amongst the best in the league before that bad injury.
As if Bale or Kroos want to leave Madrid for us. This isn't football manager.
Next time I'll get him to type it out then shall I?
Autocorrect in the UK doesn't tend to have a massive dictionary of Spanish words.
Nope it's a sure thing. People here have said so.Why are poeple so pessimistic all of the sudden? As far as I can see, apart from one outlet, there hadn't been anything regarding his future and yet the general tone of this thread is that as if he has already moved.
We actually sell players for decent fees now - should be closer to 50 million euros.he is gone after the season. its fine we have romero who is as good (blasphemy). hopefully we will get at least 30 million for him and use it for a CB or a partner for pogba in midfield
Not bale and but varane modric casemiro or kroos . Mourinho brought varane to madrid and he has french teams mates here
Agreed, but would add Schmeichel to thatWe won't be using Romero as first choice even if De Gea leaves. We will invest in a new goalkeeper and probably a very expensive one - Donnarumma, Butland, Oblak etc.
Being happy to replace the best 'keeper in the world with a mediocre reserve 'keeper shows what low standards you have.I'm happy with Romero frankly
Why on earth are some of you happy to let De Gea go and have Romero as no.1? Shocking.
De Gea is the best in the world. I'd pay anything to keep him here and would rather see absolutely anyone else leave the club ahead of him.
we obviously want him to stay but if he does leave, like many posters have said, he isn't irreplaceableWhy on earth are some of you happy to let De Gea go and have Romero as no.1? Shocking.

lol Romero has been solid for a few games but he's got a massive mistake in him. Replacing de gea isn't simple.we obviously want him to stay but if he does leave, like many posters have said, he isn't irreplaceable
I'm not talking about Romero being number 1. Ddg is no. 1 in the world so we are never going to get someone better, we can get someone close to his level though in Oblak, Butland if he returns from his injury with good form or even Schmeichel who has been superb this and last season. neither of those are big Dave but he isn't irreplaceable unlike when we sold Ronaldo to Madridlol Romero has been solid for a few games but he's got a massive mistake in him. Replacing de gea isn't simple.
DDG will not force a move to Real. He is already the highest paid keeper in the world, he has signed a new contract recently. His manager is Jose Mourinho. It will not be a walk in a park for Madrid to get David from us. They will have to cough up a lot of money to satisfy Woody, Mourinho, DDG and his agent.
Butland isn't near as good as Donnarumma or Oblak, I doubt that we would consider him. Donnarumma is the only one who wouldn't be a massive downgrade (at least talent wise). We won't be using Romero as first choice even if De Gea leaves. We will invest in a new goalkeeper and probably a very expensive one - Donnarumma, Butland, Oblak etc.
Why? He's neither that good, nor that young. I would actually prefer Romero to him.Agreed, but would add Schmeichel to that

I go with the Fergie method: if you want to leave, then leave, we'll be ok without you.
Your heart has to be in it.
Romero would jump at the chance to prove himself as first choice keeper.
I think many people are forgetting that DDG make a few mistakes which cost us early in the season. It isn't like he's been outstanding this season.
As you would expect he would be a step down. He's very talented but not there yet. He does let in soft goals every now and then. Like the other week he make a mistake that let to goal from Leganes and then at the end of the game made some incredible saves to hold to a draw. For me, the best that does not perhaps get as much hype outside of la liga or atleti fans is Oblak. Having watched Curtois closely at Atleti i can confidently say he is better than Curtois used to be at atleti. And Curtois was very good.

I agree. Oblak is a complete goalkeeper and doesn't really have weaknesses. He's brilliant and I'd say top 3 in the World. As you would expect he would be a step down. If we spend big this summer it'll be on Hazard, not on a goalkeeper. I may hope.
Good point; we can't afford to make a mistake with any replacement, if it should come to that.If De Gea leaves I really hope the club identify his position as a priority and do not mess around. I like Romero but he's not our number one. It was too long between Schmeichel and Van Der Sar. The club cannot allow this to happen again.
Ddg came to us at an early stage mate, that's not an issue. For me it's that we'd be going for a Southend European keeper again instead of an English/ northern European keeper as we tend to lose players who are used to warmer climates all too often. It would ruin my summer if big Dave leaves us. A world class keeper is the difference between titles/trophies and near misses. He's our best player; simple as that. Who would we replace him with - the young kid at Milan? He'd need time.

Schleicher plays to a good level regularly Romero plays hop and a catch so you can't judge him reallyButland isn't near as good as Donnarumma or Oblak, I doubt that we would consider him. Donnarumma is the only one who wouldn't be a massive downgrade (at least talent wise).
