First goal was not saveable. He should've dove at it instead of ball watching but it would've gone in either way.

Second goal should've been saved. You can argue his view was obstructed, but if his positioning wasn't utter shit, that wouldn't have been an issue.

Kicking as usual was horrendous and prevented us from retaining possession.

I’m out of this thread. It’s not even worth debating anymore, if you can’t see how much this fraud costs us, then go watch tennis or F1 because football isn’t your sport.

Not even sure hes at fault for either but if we can get anyone to replace him we just need to at this stage.

For the second yes at fault. Should be saved. First one is saveable but it would be a very good save, but considering he is meant to be a world class shot stopper in a big final when you need your big players to step up....

City's best player today with his distribution aswell.

Hope it's the last time I see him in a united shirt.

Completely done for us, lost us the second cup final in two years. Slow, terrible with the ball at his feet, indecisive. Even City's second no-name keeper is better than him... I'm completely done with him, and even though it feels shit after getting twelve years of service from him, I'd be mad at the club if they re-sign him. We won't be able to make the next step with a keeper as reactive, slow and crappy at football as him.

Please anyone defend this, as the tweet says what are we actually supposed to do, anytime the ball goes back to him it's virtually guaranteed opposite team posession, you could argue the first goal was a freak goal but the second one bounces twice and rolls in and he still can't save it ffs

He's a liability we all know it, it showed again today. Simply can't win against teams like City when we have players like him constantly shiting the bed.

Horrific with his kicking again, but did nothing wrong with the goals, saved a 1v1 with De Bruyne as well.

Fact of the matter is Gundogan should never have been allowed to shoot uncontested from those positions, the CMs went to sleep on those.

He can't pass, he can't rush off his line, he can't claim high balls, he can't communicate with his back line, he can't save penalties. All of these deficiencies are often countered with "he's an excellent shot stopper". Forgive me if I decide to judge him on his ability to actually stop shots, or his lack of ability, no matter how harsh anyone thinks that is today.

This is one reason I was hoping Dean Henderson would supplant him before he got injured a couple seasons ago. The back line, even with Maguire in it, looked far more assured because Henderson would communicate with them, which De Gea refuses to do.

That shitter is not the answer either.

I think he's great but I really noticed his poor distribution today.
Everytime we went long we lost it. We need a keeper who can play it out properly.

Second goal is a clear mistake a weak shot from outside the box still somehow he doesnt reach it. It's a clear balant mistake.

Any idea where those stats are coming from?

Good thing ETH has much more football knowledge than Davehate Cafe and will extend his contract. I guess he should also go manage Tennis? Haters are out in full force!

That’s exactly my point. I’m not saying DDG shouldn’t be replaced, but people are making him out to be the scapegoat for today.

So fecking tiresome to see David "no one can make saves like he does" De Gea blew yet another final

Genuinely despise him. Head's well and truly gone. Defended him a lot but he's playing his way out of legend status with the amount of mistakes in massive game's he's made. Disgusting to lose on that Gundogan squirmer.

United can’t reach their potential with him in goal

I’m confident behind the scenes Ten Hag knows that

If he stays he has to be #2

It’s not binary, but this is De Gea in a nutshell at this point. His shot stopping is below PSxG over the last five seasons. He’s not a good shot stopper any longer, and he’s diabolical at everything else.

Prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt for the first one

Absolutely has to save the second, scuffed shot that bounces twice before reaching him and he gets a full hand on it. Unacceptable

He'll get a new contract, and he'll pull off a worldie save in a friendly and well be back where we starred with his fan boys saying how amazing he is. Rinse and repeat.

Every football team has moronic fans, but seeing how unhappy some clowns here are makes this loss easier to swallow. You pricks deserve all of it.

I have been one of his biggest defenders and I would always cherish his best years.
But we can’t go into another big game with this under confident GK. Definitely should’ve saved the second one today. Passing was poor throughout and when it was decent, it was because it was safe. Hope it was his last game for us unless he’s magically accepted a No.2 role and salary.

Agree. I vote automatic demotion to the newbies for any posters who trots out the "good shotstopper" line.

He is an abomination of a goalkeeper and I genuinely believe he costs us 20+ goals a season with his pitifully passive style and his constant mistakes

Are you 12 years old? “Haters”
Very ironic, because Dave hate posts actually look like written by a 12 year old.

Maybe you missed "hate" "despise" and other childish posts towards our long serving player. So yes, haters.

Absolutely planted to the spot all game today, not moving his feet, can’t pass to save his life, costs us in every big game.

Thank you for the good times but cheerio.

Did nothing wrong with the 2nd goal?

Why do you people defend him? I'm genuinely interested in understanding why people try and pretend it's okay to make howler after howler in big games?

I don't think you can blame him on the first goal but he would have probably done himself a big favour if he at least attempted the dive even though I don't think he would have been anywhere near it.

Second goal I think he should do better.
His anticipation was bad for both goals and seemed to be deteriorating. Bringing in a new keeper would be a good decision.

Yeah, I'm sure the kind of person who can't see how bad DDG is will have a firm grasp of all the technical intricacies of F1.

So tired of seeing this guy cost us, game after fecking game. Soft as feck goals to concede. Been an average at best goalkeeper for 5 fecking years.

There were a sea of bodies in front of him and he had to guess at the shot, got a hand on it but Gundogan got just enough power for it to roll in.

It was a coulda shoulda sort of goal, always feels bad to concede but not on the keeper, it was on those in front of him including Varane who dodged the ball.

Yes, the first was absolute quality from Gundogan but the second was like a slow motion replay. Hopefully his last game in a United shirt.
