If he continues to play like this he will become a fan favourite in absolutely no time. Not trying to rub anything in, but it's true.

You need Walcott back. One of the reasons is because other managers adjust their squads because of his lightning speed. Playing Walcott and Ox on the flanks is what Wenger should do IMHO. The only issue there is that Sanchez won't have a starting spot as he's not an out an out striker.

I would never in a bajillion years play Theo Walcott ahead of Sanchez.

Walcott and Oxlade Chamberlain both ahead of Alexis? Really? Alexis should be one of the first names on the teamsheet. If everyone is fit Wenger should be looking at something like:

------- Ozil*
Alexis Giroud Welbeck

Or

---------- Ozil*
Walcott Welbeck Alexis

* or Ramsey

dont you mean Walcott and ALexis??

Talking to yourself, Prete.

How lucky is Datguy though? I should have said 'how good' to annoy the anti Welbeck army more . Anyway, he gets to work with two of the biggest and best managers in world football. He'll have one heck of a story to tell his kids when it's all said and done.

Would be a great to hear about the differences between their styles. I hope one-day there's a docco out featuring SAF and Wenger, even akin to the Keane and Vieira one...

From what I had read on one of the Gooner Forums, and a quote from Wenger himself; Ferguson was there in Italy with Wenger when the deal went down.

The same club that has made numerous mistakes in selling and buying players. Good reference.

I think its a bit early to say selling Danny Welbeck was a mistake.

Far too much knee jerking on this thread. Seems every time he has a good game we're going to go back to what a great player he's going to become, yet when he has a stinker it's the complete opposite.

We may have helped Arsenal out in selling them a player who is better than what they had available. But long term I think the effect of that is going to be negligable. He's a good, not great player and I personally dont think he's going to suddenly become the star some people seem to think.

We've got better players here and once Van Gaal gets the defence put straight and the system right we'll kick on. I personally dont think how we'll we do this season is going to be effected by selling Danny Welbeck to Arsenal. We've giot big problems that need to be addressed, but our attack isn't one of them. He'd be surplus to requirements most likely anyway.

He was always going to do well with the service Ozil/Ramsey/Sanchez would provide.

We will miss his work rate and hounding more than anything, our current strikers don't put defenders under much pressure.

"Typical Welbeck performance". Running all game, 97% passing success, one goal and one assist.

Unless, of course, only games where he doesn't score are "typical Welbeck performances".

So you think Ferguson advised him to buy Welbeck? Wenger said that if he didn't go that morning, welbeck wouldn't be an Arsenal player. We should get Sherlock on this

He was saying that he would have missed the call in the morning, but because he was away he was up earlier than usual and took the call.

General consensus is a tautology lads, a consensus is the general opinion. I would disagree since this thread is a source of never-ending mirth.

To be fair to him, it was a little awkward, but still was hilarious.

Have him in my FF team... ffs he can't even get a touch on it to get the assist.

He literally nutmegs himself

He's just awful in the box isn't he?

Why does he fall over so much in the box? He's had two air shots in the box in his last 3 games!

Because he's shit as a striker.

Jesus, you lot just love to overreact.

You're right rvp is more prone to mishitting a shot than danny.

Never-the-less it would be interesting to see what asnl fans made of his performance today. If he hasn't got space to run into he's pretty ineffective

It's always the same cycle with Welbeck, to be fair, even when he played for us.

Welbeck had a good/great game, and he's hyped up to the heavens. He's a top prospect who is destined to become a world class striker. His finishing was guaranteed to click into gear once he got a sustained run up front, he'd score 20+ goals a season, and people who doubted him were wrong and didn't have patience.

Then he'd have a shit game, followed by lots of people deciding he was a terrible finisher and average footballer who was awful inside the box and couldn't score goals.

The cycle seems to have continued since his move to Arsenal.

Crucial role in the goal, couldn't have scored without him ;)
