Danny Welbeck | Arsenal player

In fairness Shevchenko signed the wrong side of 30, keeping up with the pace of the PL would prove to be difficult for any player - let only one that is getting on. I still think Veron came to us a few seasons too soon, had he come to us later we probably would have utilised him better.

But i get your point.

Every signing is a risk but i personally believe Falcao is on another level and will score goals for us. Its not a case of IF but when

Veron didn't fail because he was crap or anything to be fair. He failed because he isn't really suited to a 2 man midfield, especially the way our 2 man midfield used to play.

Veron was actually ahead of his time in the PL IMO. He would be a brilliant player in today's PL.

Thats what i said

I enjoyed seeing Danny's goal against Villa although the game sucked because Villa just couldn't get going. That own goal was a shocker.

Not bad - Danny scores in his second game for Arsenal. Give him a bit of time and we'll see him come into his own though I hope he freezes when he plays against United! Only 23 - time is on his side.

Already fluffed his lines in 2 more important games which could cost Arsenal in the long run. I remember he scored 2 at Villa park last season. Must like playing against them.

The reason I am against Danny Welbeck being sold is because I think he should be a starter for our team now. That's it. I would find a space for him in our team.

Did Falcao fluff his lines when he missed that chance last game?
4 nil up. Difference. How will you sleep at night knowing Welbeck doesn't play for us anymore?

And be a starter for who? That's 3 managers now that don't see him as a first choice forward. You think you know better? 29 goals in 140 games. Not good enough.

Think of big chances. That one against bayern, the 2 against Dortmund, the one against city. You just wouldn't put money on welbeck scoring any of them because more often than not he loses his composure and fluffs them.

Stop talking sense mate, it's not allowed.

How is there a difference? Welbeck has missed chances. Yes. So does every player. Welbeck misses a few chances in his first few games but has 3 goals and an assist in the four games since we sold him. Falcao has scored none and missed chances as well.

Of course there's a difference. Falcao has a proven track record of sticking the ball in the back of the net in big games. Why are you including England stats? His record for England was never in doubt was it? He scored for them when he played for us. Falcao has played 20 minutes and missed one chance. Looks like you are too butthurt about him leaving that you can't even bare to give Falcao a chance at the club. I suppose if we stuck with Welbeck all this time we wouldn't have won number 20 and learned to accept mediocrity up front.

Falcao hasn't proven anything here and for me Welbeck was one of our best players. I wouldn't judge Di Maria on how many goals he scores for this team but rather what he does when he plays and I rated Welbeck for the same reasons. We played better football when he played. And when he has been given a chance up front he scores.

Seriously though, no way to tell if the decision was good or bad until the season is atleast close to being done. The intention is pretty spot on, welbeck ever looked like a ruthless striker in his time and chances of him sticking around being down in the pecking order was minimal and he left.

As for not giving Falcao a chance... I'll give him every chance. Hope he does well. I just hold no affinity for him at all and hope he impresses me.

Unless Falcao scores around 45 million pounds worth of goals more than Welbeck than to me the decision will be questioned.

Well played sir. Remarkable performance in here in the thread.

One of our best players? Okay. I disagree. You're the same guy who thinks Ashley Young deserves a place in the team though and thought Kagawa was crap, so it looks like we'll not get anywhere with this.

I thought Kagawa never showed anything at United and I think Young deserves a place in the squad yes.

Interesting you bring up Kagawa after saying earlier that Welbecck never was rated by three different managers. I'd put forward Welbeck was rated by all three managers a lot more than Shinji.

The proof will be in the pudding. Personally I think Welbeck added a lot to our attack and with Di Maria and Herrera feeding him I think he'd be amazing. This isn't a recent thing before he was sold I was talking about how along with De Gea I'd have him as first name on the team sheet. I'll add Di Maria to that list now. He plays football with pace and doesn't give the opposition a second.

I dunno about that, as long as he does more than what welbeck has been capable of doing which results in an overall team benefit at the end of the season, I will be satisfied. Ofcourse I expect Falcao to do much better, and if he doesn't then all this will be justified. But, transfers are always a bit of chance, but the decision is taken with good intentions.

I'm not acting butthurt about Kagawa leaving, unlike you and Welbeck. I'm actually glad he left. It was clear that it wasn't going to work out since we bought Mata for his position. I liked Welbeck, felt he offered a lot to the team but he wasn't clinical enough. I trust LVG on this one.

Fair enough. Personally I think both players will go on to have fantastic success this season. I just think Danny could do the same if given a chance here and I am a bit gutted he never got it.

I don't get this "butthurt" thing.

Does that mean I'm sad he's gone and wished he was still here? Yes.

We've lost much better players in the past than Danny bloody Welbeck that's for sure. He would be 4th choice, yes 4th choice forward if he was still here.

Apart from Ronaldo and Veron I've never really minded anyone being sold by our club before.

Only time will tell but simply the option of the best of Danny v the best of Falcao, there's only one winner. We are taking about one of top 3 strikers in the world.
