I didn't say you said that. I was being sarcastic.

Napoli wanted him? Oh, he must be world class then. Feck sake, you can't be serious! (First I've ever heard about this Napoli interest btw). If he was rated, why were only Arsenal interested in him? All the other clubs in Europe full up?

Wow, Guardiola and Klopp mentioned him in pressers when talking about the opposition they're about to play? Oh, yeah that really means they rate him?! Fecks sake, have a word.

Ask any oppo fan on the continent if they rate Welbeck, and the majority will tell you he's average.
You made a point which i effectively countered with facts. Since you didn't want to address that, you used sarcasm.

you can't change the term "rating" to fit your argument. Rating a player doesnt have to mean that you think he's world class. Just that you think he's a good player, hence "you rate him!".

The idea that we've strengthened Arsenal is a bit strange. I'd much rather they have Welbeck than go after players like Mandzukic, Benzema et al.. who actually score goals.

its worse than the Pogba or Morrison thread

It showcases how united fans are divided on Welbeck. There's no middle ground at all

With Pogba and Morrison, it was just moaning constantly with no joy at all.

At least with this thread, you have meltdowns from both sides of the coin, it's utterly brilliant.

I dont care where he wanted to go. Its like Sir Alex not selling Heinze to Pool even though he wanted the move, we should have told them to do one.

You can't ruin a player's career and force him to sign for a club he doesn't want to join, we didn't really want to keep him so the decent thing to do was to grant him his wish. Doesn't matter now if he makes it or not, he isn't a united player anymore.

Sure but a single result won't define a side. Villa are what they are and stealing a result at Anfield won't change that.
Villa seems to have no idea on how to play if they go down. Like against Liverpool, all they did was score early and retreat deep into their own half.

The team wasn't productive so changes had to be made. It made no sense in keeping the players that didn't produce the desired results as a team. I guess he had to be sacrificed in order to get different players because United obviously needed a change. It was either that or keep losing every game.

I didn't say you said that. I was being sarcastic.

Napoli wanted him? Third best club in Serie A. Oh, he must be world class then. Feck sake, you can't be serious! (First I've ever heard about this Napoli interest btw). If he was rated, why were only Arsenal interested in him? All the other clubs in Europe full up?

You've come to this conclusion based on your poll of majority of fans on the continent or because of your personal view on Welbeck? A player can be highly regarded by fans/coaches without necessary falling into the world class category. Welbeck seems to easily fall into this category. Most people without a personal bias recognize that he's a lot in his locker but, so far has not had a chance to prove if he'll be a top level striker. Thus why most reasonable people are waiting to make final conclusion on the player.

It's early days, just because he scores or just because he misses a few will not prove anything one way or another.

Surely the fact that Arsenal chose to sign him means they felt he would strengthen them?

Obviously, but its no more so the case than it was with the likes of Podolski. I don't think Welbeck is going to make enough of an impact to get them anywhere they wouldn't be able to get without him - which is basically a 4th place league finish and no trophies this year.

I find it funny how people seem to think we've somehow made Arsenal a stronger team than us. I'm not being funny, but we have so much more quality than them, it isn't even funny. We sold our 4th choice striker for £16million, not to mention Wenger didn't even want to buy him first.

Welbecks a good solid player, he was never going to be shite, he'll score plenty of goals for Arsenal (Probably), but nowhere near what RVP and Falcao will score for us.

Im just hoping we finish in the top three. Arsenal finish 4th. Then Welbeck will have been a big part in keeping Liverpool out of the top 4.

Once Falaco gets going people will soon relax a bit around here.

Danny will do very well for Arsenal. Good luck to him. However due to the big sponsorship deal we have sign with Adidas, I think they will be expecting us to be playing bigger names than Danny Welbeck up front. Danny wanted more playing time so this will work out well for him. We always have young strikers coming through anyway.

Also I have mentioned elsewhere that we will get enough goals this season from midfield, therefore will not miss any goals Danny might score.

RD with all the logic this thread needs.

Just reviewing his goal. Good dummy movement to let the Ramsey's (?) pass through his legs to Ozil, while proceed moving forward. That move fooled whoever marking Ozil to pay closer attention to Welbeck, and gave Ozil a bit space, enough to have a head start.

Judging by he knee jerking on this thread. I can't begin to Imagine what will happen if he scores against us at OT or at emirates. This thread would literally break the whole internet.

Good luck to him but Danny will never be a top quality striker, who cares anyway he has gone now get over it, we have 3 world class strikers that could easily bag 25 goals a season each we also have the exciting Wilson coming through too.

He was brought in because Giroud is injured, Sanogo is shite and he was available last minute.

I'm sure Wenger and every sane Arsenal fan would prefer a Falcao level player instead.

What the feck are you on about? Your fachts about a non existent interest from Napoli? Your fachts about Guardiola and Klopp mentioning players of the opposition he's about to play? Okay mate... :benitez:

And nah, you know what I meant. Stop being pedantic. Obviously no one doubts he's a good player. Top player? Possibly one day. Top top player? No. World class? In your dreams.

No one other than Wenger and Pochettino wanted him. Tells you a lot about how much people 'rate' him.

Always going to happen. Every time he scores he'll be the next Henry and when he's rubbish he'll be a busted flush.

Bottom line - he wasn't as good as what we had. Van Gaal was correct in his assessment and is entitled to make that call.

My own opinion after watching him time after time is that while I'd rather keep him, I had no qualms if he decided to leave. Better option for him, better option for us. We could do better than him, he could do better than being the fourth/fifth choice striker at United.

At the end of the day, he didnt score enough. And while we can all sit here and say he would have BECOME a world class striker we need to be more ruthless and cut the fat from the squad and fill it with proven players who will take us back to the top. Now it might looks as though i am suggesting we should discard giving youth a chance im not but i think we need to re-establish a good first team whos philosophy will filter down to the kids.

Welbecks gone now and i wish him well but i just dont think hes got enough quality to make it at a top club and one goal vs Villa isnt going to change my mind

:wenger: THere you go again making up stuff to fit your agument. Nobody said anything about world class or even top player as rating a player doesn't mean you think he's world class.

Napoli did admit about inquiring about him and both Klopp and Guardiola singled him out so make of that what you will. As your original point was about nobody on the continent rating him.

and if you say
Obviously no one doubts he's a good player.
wouldn't that mean he's rated??

Yeah, wrong example.

Nah man, there are plenty of spectators who love watch hing this meltdown. This is worse than the PS4 vs Xbox and iPhone vs ANdroid threads combined.

absolutely disgusting decision letting go soon to be the best striker in galaxy to top7 contenders. Fecking hell

Pedantry at it's finest. So every good player is 'rated'. There's tonnes of players like Welbeck in Spain, Italy, France. That's what I meant. If Welbeck was being sold, how many big clubs would be after him? Well we already found out the answer. One and that was fecking Arsenal.

You do half talk some shite, don't you? Your first sentence doesn't even make sense. That's the kind of thing people say on here when they have no idea what they're talking about. And my opinion is making stuff up?

So go on, Mr Benitez, show us your fachts.

Where did Klopp and Guardiola single him out? (Saying names =/= singling out)

When did Napoli admit to enquiring about him?

Your entire argument was based on these fachts.
