Danny Welbeck | Arsenal player

Arsenal will get a hard three points today.

Because we sold them Welbeck.

Gonna seem more and more ridiculous as time goes on.

Scoring once against an abysmal Aston Villa after missing three vital chances against Dortmund is basically going to be the story of his career.

This thread has taken a bizarre turn. Are we going to get more posts lamenting his sale each time he scores a goal from now on ?

To be expected really. We've sold him to one of our challengers for the CL places. If not for him, it'd be Yaya Sanogo starting today for them.

So predictable. He scores his first goal (against Villa, no less) and straight away you have some posters crying themselves to sleep just because he's scored. Life goes on after Danny fecking Welbeck.

I said before he was sold that I would have him as my first name on the team sheet. I think he's class and offers everything I want in a forward.

Honestly think he'll go on to be one of the best strikers in the world.
I doubt if he will ever even be the best England striker, nevermind one of the best in the world.

Conrad. I don't know.

You're making yourself look like a bit of a cock reacting so poorly to a fairly light hearted description of your post.

Not really. It was only a typical pro-Welbeck fanboy that found it funny and then you felt the need to comment on it. Typical of this thread though, eh. If you genuinely found it funny, fair enough. Guess I don't get the 'Caf bantz'. Silly me.

Off the mark. I could see him going on a bit of a run now. Confidence affects his finishing so much.

He scored twice for England then proceeded to shit the bed against City and then Dortmund when presented with chances. How'd you figure that one.

Welbeck is shit compared to the best strikers in the world. Simple as. There's a reason why he isn't rated on the continent.

He's a good player, but he wanted out and wasn't producing the goods at United either so it's worked out for everyone. We brought Falcao in and in a couple of years when we come to the end of the current striker cycle, we'll buy a young talented striker that can actually, you know, finish.

If anything he was too confident by going for the lob against City when it should have been hit low and hard.

It was a very pressurized start to his Arsenal career. Two very big games. So I won't read too much into it. It takes time to settle in.
Also I wont read too much into that he has scored and got an assist V Villa(so far). He did score two against them last season as well.
We will have to give him 5-6 months to see how he is going to shape up.

I'm funny as feck mate, deal with it.

Silly me. In hingdsight, it was actually top bantz, like Malky Makay bantz.

Glad we are 'mates' now. I'll get you an Arsenal jersey with Welbeck on it for Christmas, that ok 'mate'?

Us selling him to our direct rivals for top 4 is what irks most people especially given they had Sanogo as their only option for a long time.

It has worked out for everyone as you said, that's the only thing that bothers me. We should have told Arsenal to feck off. I wish Danny well, have always liked him and I'm still sure he'l go on to be a top player. I'd rather that have happened somewhere I wanted him to do well, not hope he misses chance after chance every week because he plays for Arsenal.

He's really never shown anything to suggest he'll be even close to that level. If he wasn't a Utd academy player you wouldn't bat an eyelid at him.

I'm in greater need of a first aid kit so I can stitch up my sides. The banter is strong in this one.

They have (had?) Joel Campbell too who would probably have played ahead of Sanogo and Walcott and Podolski who can play there too to come back. It wouldn't have been Sanogo starting for four months like everyone seems to think.

is that the reason why napoli inquired about him? or why both Klopp and Guardiola mentioned him in their press conferences?

Yes but he wanted out and only wanted to go to Arsenal. People need to get over it. He made a choice to leave. He's done that.

I personally don't care how well he does. He's not a United player anymore.

Campbell is out on loan iirc. When is Walcott back? Podolski isnt really good enough anymore so discounting him but yeah, better than Sanogo.

I dont care where he wanted to go. Its like Sir Alex not selling Heinze to Pool even though he wanted the move, we should have told them to do one.

And considering he's now at Arsenal, how well he does is something to care about unless you dont think we'l be competing for them. That's my point. We have better strikers, when the time to get a replacement comes, our financial muscle means we wont regret the sale then either. But we've strengthened Arsenal at a time they really needed him.

Letting someone go to Arsenal and Liverpool is two completely different things. Obviously I'd rather Welbeck not have left for Arsenal, but it's really not the same.

He's also not that good. Welbeck is not the striker Arsenal needed. They would've beaten teams like this anyway. It's against the other teams that they would've struggled with needing Welbeck to stand up and be counted but he and Arsenal will eventually fall short, like always. His signing sums up Arsenal to a tee.

no :nono: dont change what you said. You never said anything about world class. You said he wasn't rated on the continent.
I didn't say you said that. I was being sarcastic.

Napoli wanted him? Third best club in Serie A. Oh, he must be world class then. Feck sake, you can't be serious! (First I've ever heard about this Napoli interest btw). If he was rated, why were only Arsenal interested in him? All the other clubs in Europe full up?

Wow, Guardiola and Klopp mentioned him in pressers when talking about the opposition they're about to play? Oh, yeah that really means they rate him?! Fecks sake, have a word.

Ask any oppo fan on the continent if they rate Welbeck, and the majority will tell you he's average.

Obviously I know the 2 are different. I wasnt referencing the rivalry bit, just about strengthening a rival club in a position they desperately needed.

I wont get into how good Welbeck is, the topic's been done to death. Some think he's average and always will be, others think he has it in him to be a top player if he plays regularly as a striker. Lets leave it at that. Regarding his contribution this game though, saying they'd have beaten Villa anyways is a bit off unless you think Sanogo would have played that pass to Ozil for the 1st goal or to a lesser extent, had the pace and movement to get the 2nd.

Agreed. It's a difference of opinions at the end of the day, but it gets tedious when the two sides decide to throw shit at each other when he's playing well/badly.

It'd be great if this thread was restricted to only talking about his performances. Anything else is the same old arguments going in circles and repeated bullshit time and time again.
