Danny Welbeck | Arsenal player

I didn't respond to whatever poster you are talking about. I made an observation that he scored from 5 yards and Clark's positioning was atrocious. You're actually the one that came wading into the thread quoting me. Weird.

I think you knew what you were doing. You were readily available to have a go at someone for being gutted we sold Welbeck in that second post of yours. But whatever, I'll leave it here. I just can't see why posting "it was only from 5 yards" or whatever it was is at all worth your time.

Selling Welbeck wasn't the problem for me. He was definitely surplus to us. It's selling him to a direct rival who he will clearly improve that I find bizarre.

I think it was a case of wanting to do right by the player, even if it is potentially detrimental to the club. Not really sure what to think about it if that's the case.

He might score as many goals but he's the only striker in the Arsenal side, who are playing way more games. The three of them will be competing with each other in less games.

I'd have started him along with one other (with Rooney in the side elsewhere) here at United every game as well.

It would be nice if we could just discuss his performances and progress instead of having 200 posts moaning/applauding his sale every time he scores/has a poor match.

I mean he isn't our player anymore. Get over it.

Funny. If it was, lets say Sanchez, scoring that exact goal, I'm sure numerous people on here would point out the awful defending and the fact it was 5 yards out. But because of it being good ouel Danny Boy, it's not allowed. It's ok, you're clearly wrong, you insinuated I quoted someone when I clearly didn't.

If people want to support former players at rival clubs, fair enough. I just find it all quite peculiar.

That's a fair assessment. Welbeck refused to join a club outside the top six, if the papers are to be believed.
LVG said that Welbeck has been at united since 8 so its only fair that they do right by him and sell him to a club he wants to go to.

Arsenal will get a hard three points today.

Because we sold them Welbeck.

Gonna seem more and more ridiculous as time goes on.

So they are going to win at Villa purely because of Welbecks presence in their team? Nothing to do with the fact that Villa have been awful and Ozil has been excellent?

So, the lad the scored. Who cares, we have three players capable of 30 goals a season.

Yeah Arsenal had no chance of winning this without Welbeck. Seriously ridiculous posts like this don't help the direction of this thread. Ozil has been very good today and they would likely be winning it regardless.

You're just letting sentimentality get in the way here. We have better strikers than Danny here and that's a good thing, not a bad thing.

Twigginater? Sentimentality? Never!

He'd still be starting O'Shea and Brown if it were upto him.

RVP and Rooney didn't look much better than him in the opening three games.
Rooney has looked good. RvP has clearly been getting back to fitness. Danny was shit until his goal today.

Are you being deliberately ridiculous here in order to provoke people Twigg? It wouldn't be the first time.

It's difficult to do that when people have axes to grind left, right and centre, sadly.

He made a good pass to Ozil and finished well for his goal. It seems he's playing well today. Good on him. The rest is just complete bollocks.

Great performance so far. This is what Welbeck is all about. Does everything to a really high level, winning the ball back for them with tackles and interceptions, dribbling, setting up chances for others, great passing percentage and today he's also got that end product with one assist and one goal so far.

Hope for him that he continues it in the second half and bags in a couple more. I'm still intrigued to see how well he would play if he got that "goal scorers confidence" when everything just seems to go your way.

So far he seems to be a good fit for Arsenal. Excellent ball from him for the first goal. The second goal was a simple tap in but you have to score those. Missed a few against Dortmund but maybe this is what he needs to kick off a good streak.

That said, Villa have afforded Arsenal a lot of space at the back. I want to see how he does against teams who pack the back. He has the skillset to excel either way.

Are you an Arsenal fan?

This thread has taken a bizarre turn. Are we going to get more posts lamenting his sale each time he scores a goal from now on ?

I imagine so, and it will be bumped every time he has a mare as welcome are having difficulty moving on.

I said before he was sold that I would have him as my first name on the team sheet. I think he's class and offers everything I want in a forward.

Honestly think he'll go on to be one of the best strikers in the world.

Huh...? It's things like this I will never understand.
