The thread title
I can't believe we were this daft to sell them a striker on the brink of becoming top class. We are going to regret this big time.
Jeeesus, some of you really are cringeworthy. No player is bigger than the club, be thankful for the overhaul we've had, nobody expected anything like it. I bet Welbeck will be all forgotten as soon as the results go our way.
For me this sale is less about Welbeck specifically and more about United selling its soul/identity. Since Busby the club has been founded upon youth development and bringing youth through and for us to sell one of our young players, to allow room for an established older player, seems the opposite of I know and perceive the club to be.
Granted, in the past perhaps Fergie went too far in the other direction. However I now think the balance has shifted in that respect and it is far more negative than having misguided faith in youth.
How can I be thankful when I don't like it at all? I can take that bet because that will not happen for me.
Oh they never rated him much. things will change from their point of view.Unfortunate decision. I suppose it's probably how Arsenal fans felt when the club sold RvP to United. It will be interesting to check out what Pete has said about Welbeck in the past on this forum.
Hope he does shit there.
It's very big of people to wish him well but he's gone to a direct rival so feck him and feck Arsenal.
Giroud out injured and he's better than Sanago. He'll be first choice for a while if he's fit, can't say the same thing if he stayed with us.
I think there's an element of sentimentality getting involved in people's reactions here, and also the fear of change.
The thing is, we need change.
As I said earlier in a genuine question - how would you feel if we kept Welbeck and Arsenal signed Falcao? How would fancy our chances of finishing above them? How would you feel about their chances of winning the league if they signed Falcao?
I'm also sad to see Danny go, but I'm glad that we're giving him a decent move, same with Hernandez - it will factor well for us when enticing other young prospects. It shows that we're not bitter and we won't prevent our players from moving on when they're surplus to requirements.
This also sends an important message to our youngsters - take your chances and fight to get into the team or your off.

It's a strange paradox I know but I really like Danny as a person. As a footballer he's not that great, I guess there is no room for sentiment in football eh?That's just bizarre. They're our direct rivals for 4th and you'd enjoy him becoming the new Henry?
Gutted. All the best to him and I mean that. I like being proven correct and I genuinely hope he can turn into the striker I thought he could here given the game time and trust in his real position. He's got a cracking head on his shoulders and I respect him for rejecting the usual rotation bollocks that players from the academy tend to gleefully accept. It's a brave move, this, and I hope it works out for him, the national side and also my ego. Good luck, Danny.
You like being correct so much you want the new striker Arsenal just signed to be a big success? Bloody hell. Priorities.
It's ironic that given Wengers history of playing players out of position (especially forwards) that people think there isn't a chance that he is going to end up dumped out wide.
