Danny Welbeck | Arsenal player

All of your posts in this thread stink of an agenda. No idea what Falcao has to do with anything, or wanting Welbeck to stay ahead of signing him. Nobody said that today.

Nobody said it today but it has been said by plenty. I think the 'agenda' very much lies with the pro-Welbeck camp. It's pathetic and ridiculous to see people fawning over a former player scoring for a rival. Odd carry on.

Think he'll also get the best out of Ozil . If wenger plays him in his right position.

This thread has taken a bizarre turn. Are we going to get more posts lamenting his sale each time he scores a goal from now on ?
I don't see any posts lamenting his sale from today? We probably will get new posts in the Welbeck thread whenever he does something noteworthy, shockingly. It's kind of the purpose of the thread.

Unless I've missed it no one has really brought up the issue of selling him in reaction to the goal. People are just commenting on the performance, more than usual for other players sure but no real harm done.

Edit: Well apart from one person.

Welbeck will never reach the same level as van Persie, Falcao or Rooney. I think most Arsenal fans would even admit that... Calm down you saps.

This - ripping apart a lesser side with quick movement and passing - will be Welbeck and Arsenal at their best for some time. But performances like at Dortmund will be a continuing source of frustration

Walters posted saying "Welbz on fire... he loves playing against Villa." In you come steaming in with your penis hung over your shoulder having a go at people for things they have yet to say today. Honestly it's like you were waiting for him to score just so you can come into this thread, full of importance, telling everybody how wrong you think they are and that his goal really just isn't that good. It's needless.

 We've three strikers a world apart from Danny Welbeck, it's hardly a nightmare.

I think we all know Rooney is in his last couple good years as a striker and there is a good chance RvP is on his way out in the next year or so. So I don't think the question is on the quality now, but in the long run.

And why should he be happy? Welbeck plays for our direct rivals now and any goal he scores is detrimental to us.

Why post in the thread and try and play down Welbeck's goal then? Despite it being from 5 yards, a goals a goal, and like I said, players like Hernandez made their name by doing that.

To me, if he couldn't care, it's probably better off staying out the thread.

this is the same Villa side Liverpool lost to.

I didn't respond to whatever poster you are talking about. I made an observation that he scored from 5 yards and Clark's positioning was atrocious. You're actually the one that came wading into the thread quoting me. Weird.

In the long run we'll go out and buy better again. Danny Welbeck never has and never will be top level class and I still stand by that. He was never going to be our first choice front man.

The assist for Ozil's goal was really good.

That, and his movement really compliment Arsenal's. Just like every fans and their dogs have predicted. Poor..poor decision to sell him to Arsenal.

I still like him, though. Still wish him well whatever team he play for.

I would take Welbeck over Van Persie at the moment. Football is not all about who is rated higher in fifa. We do not need an abundant of World class striker, but players who are capable of playing well together. Van Persie is a great striker, but I have not consistently seen good chemistry between him and Rooney or even Mata.

He's a good player, offers something different and is homegrown. If we didn't have 3 of the best strikers in world football, he'd have a career here without a doubt. However, he was never going to be happy being 4th choice and needed to move on. I think that's all there is to it. The only possible gripe i can see is that the 3 in his way are 28+. But by the time those 3 are winding down, Welbeck will be also. Doubt he was prepared to wait.

But seeing this bumped every time he scores is going to get tiresome.

Selling Welbeck wasn't the problem for me. He was definitely surplus to us. It's selling him to a direct rival who he will clearly improve that I find bizarre.

This. He was always going to be used predominantly off the bench. He is a decent striker but nothing more. We have Wilson coming through who is only 18 and if he fulfils his potential will be far better than Welbeck.

This is such a retarded thread.

You cant say he's having a good game or mention that he scored a goal without somebody losing the head and banging on about Falcao. Robbie Boy, calm the feck down mate.

Stranger still you have United fans talking about how pleased they are that an Arsenal player scored. Really?? :wenger:

For what it's worth I'm one of those who believes selling him was a mistake and selling him to a rival was lunacy. I've even backed him quite heavily to get mote than 7 PL goals at 5/6 which looks like easy money to me.

Despite this I can't say I get any real pleasure out of seeing him score for Arsenal. Why would I? I'd much prefer be proven wrong on this. The last thing I want is for him to score the goals that help Arsenal finish above us.

That's a fair assessment. Welbeck refused to join a club outside the top six, if the papers are to be believed.
