Danny Welbeck | Arsenal player

He'll definitely score today. That's just the way football seems to go.
Scoring today won't be an issue, scoring the number of goals required and putting away chances was always the issue with Welbeck. He will never be able to be as deadly as players like Falcao, David Villa, Aguero and van Persie in front of goal.

RvP missed worse sitters the season before against Madrid. Either way, Welbeck is proving how ABU the media are. Apparently a donkey when he played for us, now the next Henry.
A lot of United fans seem unable to forgive him for that miss, even though RvP was guilty of worse in that tie.
But RvP scored a lot more goals for us, which the fans realise so are not annoyed at the miss - well, we are annoyed, but can forgive when RvP basically won us the title in his first season.

I think Welbeck is a significantly better player than Morata right now. Morata's goalscoring isn't even that impressive.
13 in 12 for Spain U-21's,11 in 13 for Spain's U-19, 45 in 83 for Madrid B. Maybe you mean his senior squad numbers aren't great but I've seen him and his finishing is top notch.

It isn't Danny's goal scoring but his general lack of composure that frustrates at the highest level. Rooney was played out wide too but he's always had nerves of steel and is probably one of the top 3 finishers in the world today. It's not just scoring but also the awareness to pass in the box to an available teammate, Rooney, Van Nistelrooy, Saha , Tevez,Van persie and even Chicharito all had/have great composure in the box to pass to make the right decisions. Welbeck has never shown this. Sturridge on the other hand has always been a terrific finisher and very composed, I never understood Caf posters berating his selfishness, that only came about at Chelsea when it became apparent he would be sold and he got really desperate. Ever since he arrived at Liverpool he's simply done what a lot of people expected he would do. Welbeck has to improve a lot more than Sturridge did. Even if you take away Sturridge's goals for Liverpool he still has one more career goal than Welbeck. 38 to Danny's 37 and took 38 less games to do so all the while being more bit part than Danny was.

Pot, kettle, black mate.
'You know nuffink bout football bruv'
'Educate yourself'

I'm back at school, my time machine worked!

And now you acting like a crown...
Before you degrading this even more, lets just end the conversation here.

Looking at the way you put that sentence together I'm inclined to agree.

From big Louis himself

Sounds very promising for Wilson

But, also more importantly, common sense!! From both LVG and Welbeck!
Breathe it in people....Breathe it in deep!!

Those quotes are exactly why I think Danny should thank LVG rather than hate him. He got a move to another top team which will belive in him and play him where he wants to be played regularly.

So? He's gone, everyone needs to get over it and move on. It's Danny Welbeck, not Ronaldo.
it is you who mentioned regarding the big picture.

We need to move on irrespective of who it is. This debate will continue to happen since someone will make a comment which the opposing camp can't resist and so on.

I know Morata's numbers are very good at youth level but he seemed to freeze when he played for Madrd's first team when it mattered so I think his composure can be questioned, too.

I agree with all of your 2nd paragraph. I think it was right to let Welbeck go, I just think some people are downplaying his ability a lot since he's gone, while others are over exaggerating it. His real level is probably in between both sides.

Bold equates to 'runs a lot'. You sound like the type of person to appreciates Heskey or Milner.
So does this mean you think Klopp is an overrated coach? Dortmund are known for 'running around a lot'.

If I had a choice between Wellbeck and Falcao. Falcao wins every time. simple!Good luck to Danny. He will suit Arsenal more than he suits United. I'm a bit disappointed he didn't thank United and wish them well!

Morata's minute per goal ratio is amazing, he scored 8 goals in 582 minutes. Less than 70 minutes per goal.

For the first team? I'll hold my hands up and admit to being wrong if so, I thought I remembered him missing a few easy chances for them and the crowd getting on his back for not scoring often.

You remember correctly. He's a good player with a good goalscoring record but he didn't have the best time of it last season and the crowd did get on the back of him at times.

arguing about ifs is a pointless exercise. We should see how he performs the rest of the season for Arsenal(starting with this City game). As far as Heskey, Welbeck is a very much different player than Heskey. Remember this is the same media people who were saying Andy Carroll could emulate drogba or Ibrahimovic. As far as LVG, he is right: Welbeck doesn't have RVP or Rooney's record; both janunaj and wilson are under 20 and its smarter to give them the bit part time that would have been Welbeck's or Hernandez.

And Milner would have been a way better player had he stayed at Villa and gotten time as a CM. Football is a game chance, a lot depends on the team and manager you play for.

I agree that he was sold to cheaply (the United way) but BT Sports are going a bit OTT.

Obscure connection of the week. When someone cites reasons for a player being quality, at least make sure they aren't the same point. player X is a great goal scorer, he's a great finisher, will get your plenty of goals and he'll find the net regularly.
