Danny Welbeck | Arsenal player

If Welbeck had been at a Southampton or Everton they'd be getting at least twice what United got for him. I don't know what they were thinking. A young English striker who regularly scores for his country.
Does that really figure into his price though? I mean goals scored for national teams don't really do anything for the club. Maybe we could have gotten more for him, depends on who else was in for him, of course trying to move him quickly probably did not help.

People keep saying that 16 mn is a steal which kind of makes no sense to me, seems like the definition of a steal has completely changed these days.

Absolutely this. I've said it since the get go, great deal for United, good deal for Welbeck ... and a decent deal at the time for Arsenal. Long term, still don't see him as a striker who's going to lead the line in a title winning side, thus, I can't say great deal for Arsenal.

I think the price was about right, with Giroud coming back he's already been pushed back to the wings, and Giroud is no world-beater either. As soon as Arsene buys a world class striker (if this is ever going to happen again), he'll be demoted to the bench. Harsh, but probably reality. I like Danny, but we don't miss him.

On the bench today. Gonna be an impact player for them now :P

Isn't Giroud ineligible to play in the Champions League? Makes sense to start him over Welbeck if that's the case.

Yeah, Welbeck'll most likely start in midweek. In Ligue 1, PSG start with Maxwell and van der Wiel at fullback most of the time unless there's a Champions League game in midweek, in which case they usually have Digne and Aurier starting in the league instead. This'll be something similar.

Using this philosophy then David Healy (highest goal scorer ever in a European Championship campaign) would have worth 25M pounds, frankly David wasn't worth 2M even in his prime. Welbeck is not a Utd starting centre forward, Van Gaal made the right call.

Would they feck. If the club I supported paid £30m+ for Welbeck I'd be pretty pissed off.

Why is he ineligible?
Wenger didn't register him for the group stages because of his injury at the beginning of the season. He came back earlier than expected which is practically unheard of at Arsenal.

So I see he's on the bench again with players better than him in every position he's good in. What's the difference between what he's doing at Arsenal and what he was doing at United? He was so eager to move last season yet he finds himself in the exact same predicament at Le Arse.

Champions League game in midweek with Giroud ineligible to play. He's not in the same predicament yet. If it carries on for a few more games then maybe.

I'm sure he hopes and expects it to be different for him at Arsenal (it still might). Can't fault him for doing what he thinks is best for himself and his own career. It was all the fuss made by the media and some of our fans that was mightily annoying.

Why is everyone so desperate for him to fail at Arsenal? So you can gloat that he shouldn't have left??
Nope, so that they can gloat that it was the right call to sell him i.e he's not good enough.

I'm actually indifferent. Personally would like him to do well because he's a homegrown lad, United fan. But I don't want Arsenal (one of our rivals) to do well.

Agreed. However, I think at this stage it looks like Arsenal will have to be looking for another striker come the summer.

You can understand why he was so desperate to move to them specifically. It was the perfect opportunity and circumstances for him to cement himself as one of the top strikers in one of the top teams in the league. Unfortunately for him it hasn't quite turned out that way.

Because he's playing for arsenal, direct rivals for a top four spot. I'd love to see the lad bang in goals if he was at another club.

I think it's less that people are desperate to see him fail, and more that they'd just rather letting him go doesn't come back to bite us. I wish the guy the best of luck, but if he has a poor season overall then it'll only benefit our chances of finishing above Arsenal. And that's a good thing, for obvious reasons.

He is an opposition player and as for Costa, Sturridge, Giroud or Aguero, i wish he fails miserably. The fact that he was a United academy player is now irrelevant.

He was one of my favourite players. So likeable. Now I enjoy seeing him play badly due to the fact that he has gone to Arsenal. Why should I like a player that plays for one of our rivals?

Not to me.

If he wasn't playing for a rival, my position would be different but i'm not crazy, i will not support a rival player. If he does well that's good but if he does badly that's better.

Guess Louis actually knew what he was doing.. Despite what many on here said.

He chose to go to Arsenal so he is our rival now. Doesn't matter, if he was part of our academy, he is playing for our rivals which means he is directly competing against us. I wish him to fail quite hardly actually because that will be good for United, the club I support.

I never get you people that wish Welbeck to do well at Arsenal... Seriously? Are you supporting Danny Welbeck or Manchester United?

EDIT: Welbeck doing well is detrimental to us as proven in Arsenal last match where he gave them the 3 points. If it wasn't for him, we could have been 4 points up now. He gave them many points now which is hurting us.

Also, I don't hate Welbeck for choosing Arsenal, it was his decision and I think every player would have chosen Arsenal over Tottenham, but there is no way I''m supporting him either way.

Apart from stretching the game and won the corner for the second goal, absolutely nothing you're right.

Chambers is shit thogh.

Apart from the fact that I have always liked him and want him to do well, it is also nice to see our youth products doing well at other top clubs (and not only at mid table or lower league clubs). It for sure can't be bad advertising for our club/academy.
