Danny Welbeck | Arsenal player

Those 'we'll regret it for years' posts..

I mean lot of better players left us and we didnt regret it for years and years..

As I said if we'll get CL spot and then move on to be better and fight for the title in the next years who'll care about Arsenal and Welbeck. Even if he turns out to be new Henry.

We won't regret selling Danny this season because we will get top four and push on from there. Whether Arsenal finish above us at that point doesn't really mean much. In three or four years though, we probably will when we are looking for some new forwards.

Just as the glaring misses and comical air shots of the last few weeks have been. I really want to be happy for Danny, but the massive drama queens are making it hard. What's even more predictable though is this thread. Overenthusiastic gloating when he's shit, melodramatic whining when he's good. And we're only 6 games into the season. It certainly makes it hard to be impartial.

Almost as though flogging a prodigiously talented homegrown striker to a rival (for fecking peanuts) provokes strong feelings, isn't it?

I think that sums up these forums in a nutshell these days!

I wish the media would stop comparing Welbz to Henry. Only going to put pressure on the lad. I mean, Henry is arguably the best player to have graced the EPL, for crying out lad.

Its the Arsenal fans who started this. I have several Arsenal supporting friends and relatives, and they are all hoping Welbeck will be the next Henry.

Arsenal really looked to be screwed if we didnt sell them on the last day. They appeared to have no other option. With Giroud out he was a God send given who else they have.

I think it is quite clear that being shifted about on the pitch was the right thing in terms of his own improvement. Looking at him playing right now he is such a complete forward, provides loads of dribbling, burst pace, extremely neat link up and secure passing and a great work rate - while still having the instincts of a striker.

Right now the only thing that can stop him is that he still hasn't lived the pressure of being a first choice striker who is going goalless for a while. That is something that can make and break players and make them extremely selfish or the complete opposite.

Love Danny, delighted he is getting the recognition he deserves...shame it's for the wrong shade of red.

I'd bet he doesn't score at the weekend against Chelsea nor for the next few games now.

It was a mistake to sell him to Arsenal. But he wanted to go there, so we should have sold him to someone else against his will?

Happy to see him score, really like him and was defending him to my Arsenal mates when they thought they got scammed for his price tag. He's gonna be class for Arsenal.

lazy to find the real stats but I guess his goal ratio mins per match is not that bad... and who the cares about how many chances he misses, most of these chances he misses are specifically made by his powerful running and clever play. He just makes chances about what Rooney, Falcao and Van Persie can only dream off.. and he scored hattrick today how many goals do you want from a striker per match? Sometimes he looks little bit clumsy and without composure when finishing but its simply because he works hard through the whole match and its like that. Or you can have Van Persie who joggs all match and waits for his chance who may never come, you decide. I always liked striker who can make chances himself and the more he can make it the more he is a striker finishing is the second aspect but the chance creation whatever you call it is as important for me and if he helps the team with pressing winning the ball back than its even more fantastic.. There was a statistics BTW - Ballotelli has one goal from last 66 shots, and after tonight its even worse for him, that's fecking hilarious and someone would say he is better striker. not a chance, I saw him in 4 matches this season and he wastes chance after chance, he is ridiculously bad at converting chances but he makes chances for himself and its a matter of time when he will start to score goals, anyway he will be back in serie A soon, his attitude is another issue for him... then compare the prices, welbeck is absolute steal for Arsenal. Not that it was completely reaction on your comment.-)

Ok...not arsed reading all of that, I just don't think he will outscore all of Rooney, Falcao and Van Persie combined.

Like I said above,

my opinion on Danny Welbeck hasn't changed after he's moved to Arsenal. Didn't think he'd ever be good enough to lead the line for us if we were to challenge for the title, feel the same now he's at Arsenal. He'd have to do a lot more to prove me wrong.

Just saying alot can happen...Many big strikers before him didn't really take off until their mid-twenties. Ibrahimovic, Diego Costa, Drogba, Llorente and Henry off the top of my head.

Why can't everyone here just be happy to see him doing well, while at the same time realizing that we couldn't offer the playing time that he craved? Good work Danny!
ppl got no perspective thats why.

Still  @ Adebayor telling Bendtner: "The boss sent me into the game b/c u are shit"

and tbf to danny, bendtner had talent..just that he didn't seem to like football very much.

In other words you're hoping he doesn't.

Hope he doesn't either, he can score hattricks in the group stages of Champions League for all I care. But I hope he goes droughtless in the league.

Edit. Obviously mean to say he goes on a drought in the league. Not that it will happen mind.

Ibrahimovic was star for Ajax and signed for Juve at 22.
Diego Costa was playing very good with Falcao upfront 2 seasons ago at the age of 23 and was a star at the age of 24 - in 2011-12 he had a serious knee injury which prevented him to prove himself.
Llorente for me is not a top striker.
Henry was very good for Monaco since 18, at the age of 22 he moved to Juventus, Juventus fecked up but they paid more than £10M at that time and sold him for £11M to Arsenal. He wasn't some unknown player.

Welbeck never was and never will be top striker. On the deadline day Rene said he will never be a player who wil stor 20+ goals a season but he is very good in other things. Rene who coached him for a long time. His buildup play is very good and all that but as a striker he lacks something you just can't learn. He will be 24 next month.

As a form of helping some with self intervention this thread should be locked until 5 days after he plays a game, that way some of you can have a word with yourselves before posting.
No they need to vent, there would be mass self-harm otherwise.

So much bitterness in here, it's like everyone wants him to fail, why?

If it was left to him he'd still be here, it was only Van Gaal who wanted rid, because of that though people on here want him to fail miserably and have a shite career?

He'd never have been a world class player here, because we always played him out of position and in my opinion we are shite producing talent anyway, we try and turn them into jack of all trades, play them out of position or don't give them enough opportunity.

If Wenger can turn Welbeck into a world class player, FANTASTIC, not only for him but for England too.
