Oh definitely, I mean that Champs league hattrick puts him up there with our hattrick legends like Benayoun and Bentner, his atrocious finishing over the last few weeks suddenly is forgotten.

He scored his hat-trick against the Turkish Champions, not some no name Bulgarian team.

Remember Rooney's debut? He scored a hat-trick against them as well. Look what happened to him.

Glad for him. Wenger's going to be patient with him (admittedly he has little choice for the next 10-12 weeks) and Welbeck's going to thrive playing with no fear of being dropped or moved about every game. He already appears to be enjoying his football and his role, and is playing with freedom, and he's going to play better for it.

Whether he ends up a 25-30 goal-a-season striker (which is stupid, because even Rooney and van Persie have only managed a couple of them) or not there's no way he wont end up great business for Arsenal at the price they paid.

problem is with ''in 3-4 years Welbeck will be a top striker'' is the fact that he isnt now one. We have better strikers now, so why play him when he could become world class in 3-4 years?

He'll do a Sturridge and make the fvcking haters eat humble pie

IMO he's top class now and offers a lot of what we lack.

The turkish champion who should have lost their first game against Anderlecht, they are really nothing special and I wouldn't bet money on it, that they are better as Rasgard, who gave Pool and today Real a good fight.

Arsenal fans are loving him tonight on twitter lol.

Whats funny is that 'wele!' means 'goal!' in some parts of Southern Africa

Bendtner scored a hat-trick against Porto in the knockout stages of the champions league in fairness.

Anyway hopefully Welbeck has scored his fair share of goals in the Champions League and misses out in the domestic front.

Giggsy will re-sign him in three years, as accomplished and absolutely beasty striker, I wonder who scored more goals (incl. international matches) him or van Persie or Falcao or Rooney or him over them all altogether?

Knowing Arsenals luck with injuries he will get injured for England and Wenger will blow a gasket.

This got debated earlier on in the thread and he might outscore all of them because he will play more matches but not all together as he still misses more than his fair share of chances.

We most likely will manage without him. If we don't then we have serious issues. We did throw 150 million at the market this season...

But I enjoy watching young talent thrive and blossom. I think it is embarassing that we sold Pogba to Juventus, and now he is nearing the finished product we want him back. Because the "cost" of developing him was too much. Likewise with Welbeck I think he showed enough for us to give him a prominent role and see how he rolled with it. If he goes on to be a success for Arsenal then surely it is egg on the face for those who say he could have never made it for us.

Hypothetically of course. I may be wrong.

Didnt know we want Pogba back?

Embarassing we sold him? He wanted to go..

Why can't everyone here just be happy to see him doing well, while at the same time realizing that we couldn't offer the playing time that he craved? Good work Danny!

Too many weird arseholes on the forum, sadly.

He has pace, but I don't think that's really been our problem lately, and he certainly isn't at the level of Rooney, RVP and Falcao when it comes to finishing.

I wonder if fans from other teams are the same. Did Chelsea fans cast despairing looks every time Mata scored for us last season? Were Real fans distressed when Ozil initially did well with Arsenal? I'm genuinely curious.

How old was Rooney when he scored that hat trick?

Good luck to Danny, happy to see him do well but it will all work out for the best for both parties. We have Wilson and Mitchell coming through who I beleive will be better players for us;the door is opening for others

No but then Mata was a player we didnt need and him scoring had zero effect on us bar a possible positive one if he had scored vs Liverpool or City.

Ridiculous he wasn't rated higher while still at United and beyond fecking stupid to sell him to Arsenal. One big clusterfeck that will haunt us for years.

And some people are actually happy about him doing so well for Arsenal?

'Kin weirdos...

Why not? he did all he could for the club and his attitude was great. I'm not happy he's scoring for arsenal but i'm happy for him, no ill feelings towards him whatsoever.

A player Mourinho ddin't need you mean.Didn't he score 20 goals one season? I'm curious why you feel you didn't need him

If we dont get CL spot it will haunt us. If we will nobody will care.

As long as he doesn't score against us, I can afford to be happy. It's all a bit patronizing really, as if he were somebody that I really missed (ex. Ronaldo,) I wouldn't be happy for him. But such is life...

Speaking of Falcao, he better, and we Canadians know this expression, take the monkey off his back soon.

Why not? He's an Arsenal striker. Why the hell would any United fan be pleased about any Arsenal striker doing well. Never mind one we sold them for a frigging bargain fee when they were desperately in need of some quality up front.

Some genuinely mystifying opinions in this thread. From those who don't rate him and from those that do. Bizarre.

Well done Welbeck. Good to see him doing well at Arsenal (as long as it doesn't hurt us).

Doesn't change the fact that he isn't as good as any of Rooney, Falcao, RvP or Mata and isn't as talented as Januzaj. They're the guys he was going to be competing with here so in a way it doesn't matter how good he is at Arsenal as we would never have seen that form here due to him spending most of his time on the bench.
