Danny Rose | Rose: "I will play up North before I retire"

If a transfer were to happen, would you prefer a direct purchase of Rose likely around the £50M range or something along the lines of ~£25M + Shaw for him?

If anyone, Spurs would be the ones able to resurrect Shaw and a worthwhile gamble on their part. Means Mourinho could just simply move on from Shaw and get Rose for cheaper + gives Poch a replacement and reclamation project that if successful with would be big time reward for the club ...or would you prefer we keep Shaw being young and giving him time to slowly find his previous form not having to rush him with Rose as the clear cut starter for a few years? I'd personally prefer including him a deal. Makes it a cheaper buy + lets Mourinho and the club move on, not have to worry about Shaw's wavering development any longer. Rose being primed aged would start for 4+ seasons easily and wouldn't have to worry about his successor all while we get the bonafide LB we desperately need as the club continues to transition itself.

So it looks like both Lukchurst and Pilib de Brun were right when they said that Spurs players were unhappy with their pay. They got a lot of stick from Spurs fans at the time they said it.
On Rose, even though he's said what he has, Spurs would be stupid to get rid this late in the window as they won't find a replacement of anywhere near the same quality. It won't happen this window imo.

Would give them Shaw in return. Simply because Rose will make that position his and Shaw will most likely move in in the future for a first team role.

Ideally I'd keep both for competition and injuries etc. but don't think Spurs will even consider letting him go without a ready replacement.

I continue to hope we address our fullback positions. As I claimed before, Aurier and Rose would transform the team.

Its only fair for rose to want to fight against rather in favour of the white walkers. They seem to just sit around and never achieve anything

The second Rose signs, if he does - he and Shaw would both be United players, which would result in the amount of posters saying Shaw is better than Rose dropping by more than 50% I imagine. Just like Matic became twice the player the second he signed, as would Perisic.

Rose is the best LB in the PL easily.

The latter, most definitely. Would make a day and night difference to the dynamic of the team and how much of a threat it'd oppose to opponents game planning.

And yea I pretty much feel the same way. If anything, having Shaw as a bargaining chip to include in any potential deal is something United can say no other team can best let alone match. United can match any bid or price Spurs would want but no team can include a replacement the calibre/potential/risk-reward of Shaw. Definitely a hypothetical win-win for both parties; would make a ton of sense.

Yep, not a better LB in the league. Can only think of 5 or so in Europe that are superior too.

Breaking news on Sky Sports News (yellow ticker) Rose wants to join Chelsea or Utd by end of transfer window to win trophies

@GlastonSpur @balaks @InLevyITrust

This broke earlier in the Spurs Thread. He's always been outspoken, he said he's not looking out yet but honestly wouldn't be surprised if he was sold this summer as I doubt this will go down well with Poch.

As a hypothetical - would Spurs' fans be happy with Shaw and say, 20 or 30m for Rose?

It's a strange one. I know Spurs haven't won anything but they've been the best managed side for last two seasons. The project is clearly strong. He's very good but surely Spurs are a good bet for him.

An odd summer for Spurs if this happens.

Also, if we did sell Shaw (not saying we should), everyone's vision would be immediately adjusted to something more realistic about his actual current level.

I knoe it's hypothetical but these kind of deals rarely happen.

You're right, but I doubt they'd even consider selling Rose without a replacement. It'd give Rose what he wants, Spurs will get Shaw, providing him a chance to revitalise his career with a manager he knows well etc.

It's just wishful thinking though, don't see Rose joining.

Can't believe Talkshite were wetting their pants over this, big deal, so in a few years a player might transfer because he misses his mummy. You have so much fecking money, why don't you buy your family a flat in London, then they can come and stay whenever they like.

I'm so excited by this news. :boring:

Is Rose currently injured? Seen somebody on Twitter say he's out with a knee injury. If so it makes this a pretty pointless discussion.
I've had a quick search and it seems he's targeting to be fully fit by the start of September.

We couldn't pay Shaw's wages so it would end that dead.

He's not too far off recovery but yeah he hasn't kicked a ball in 6 months. He's trying to force Levy into making signings and getting an improved contract, he's done it before. This time I'm thinking he may have burnt his bridges, totally unacceptable behaviour especially days from a new season.

Could not make this up :D

However, it is a strange attack on the club and I think GNeville's got a point. Unless Rose is sure that he's just saying what everyone is thinking in the club. Other than that, interesting to see how this one evolves.

All is not well in Spurs land it seems.

Tricky one for the manager/chairman to deal with. If you keep him you've got a rotten apple in the bunch and if you sell you've kind of proven his point.

Shades of the Rooney situation with us some years back.

Ok so here is my take on this - Rose wants out of the club, I can see no other reason why he would do this - he is acting to benefit himself. He wants more money and he is trying to create a situation he will leave. I think this will hurt the manager as from what I hear they get on very well. I expect Rose to be sold - probably not this window but certainly in January or next summer. My fear is that Rose is the tip of the iceberg and other players such as Toby, etc. will also leave within the next year and we will have a big problem on our hands. The biggest worry for me is what this might do for Poch - will he be prepared to ride the storm or will he decide he can't achieve what he wants at the club and leave. If that happens then we will go backwards as a club quicker than Rose signing a £200k per week contract and we will end up with further decades of mid-table mediocrity. Oh but we will have a lovely stadium.

Given he's been out for 6 months then a new deal seems the more obvious end game here. Unless these medicals aren't as stringent as you'd expect.

I'd sign him and keep Shaw. Those two being our LBs would be great. Stick with them and chuck playing the likes of Darmian, Rojo etc there.

Have to say some of the comments from Rose are a bit ridiculous. The Google one is really disrespectful.

Is he seriously on that little? If that's the case its impressive it's taken this long for a problem to surface.

He is on about 65k per week from what I hear and he signed a 5 year contract only last season.

How is Shaw better than Rose? The only thing Shaw has is potential. Let's be honest, a handful of games aside, he has done feck all since arriving here. He's been here for 3 years now!

I'm not advocating buying Rose, but he is probably the best LB in the league. Shaw has come nowhere near that after joining us. The worst part is he always seems to struggle with injuries.
