Danny Rose | Rose: "I will play up North before I retire"

I think there was no coincidence that Rose was saying he wants world class players at the club and not ones he needs to Google and low and behold this alleged 'bid' is placed.

The media are briefed on alot of things, often to stabilise internal club affairs. If Martial was available and unhappy, neither of which seem likely given the noise from both manager and player, there would be much more in the press to suggest this than a 25m bid from Spurs from one questionable source.

That there was even bid placed is highly questionable indeed. I find it hard to believe that even penny pincher Levy would be fool enough to offer £25m for a potentially world class talent such as Martial. Ludicrous in the extreme.

I've searched for information on this supposed bid and there is very little to be found. Either it's all very hush hush or, and what is infinitly more probable, there was no bid to begin with.

We don't need Danny Rose. Luke Shaw will come good this season and be the best left back by the end of the season.

1. What does Mourinho care about re-sale value? He wants the strongest possible first XI now, to mount a title challenge this season. And Rose at LB for United would address a long-standing weakness and definitely improve your best XI.

2. I agree that swap deals don't often happen, not least because they're complicated to pull-off. And that's partly why I've said it's a long-shot. But the idea of Mourinho being open to the possibility is - in my view - not beyond the bounds of possibility. Whether Levy and Pochettino would be willing to engage in such a deal is another question.

You're right in that teams do give up more for immediate fixes in all sports, which in some ways makes sense since you might well develop a solution in the meantime. For example, if we overpaid for Rose and get 4-5 years of great production, maybe by 2021/22 we'll have developed someone like Mitchell or Borthwick-Jackson or another prospect we develop or poach into a top LB. Or maybe Shaw will compete well with Rose by then and be healthy and we won't need more than a backup when Rose moves on.

But that's a case for United paying an extra 10-15M more in cash, not for giving up Martial. Teams just don't give up players to smaller teams they don't want to lose. It just doesn't happen. Spurs wouldn't give up a player to Southampton to get a player and we won't give up a player to Spurs.

A year on loan from a less important/productive player, I could see. For example, let's say Spurs sell Sissoko this week and next week, Moussa Dembele or Harry Winks broke their leg and Pochettino desperately needed a midfielder who can play a bit and Levy doesn't want to shell out money for a replacement in a panic. If we're in negotiations for Rose and you asked for Pereira on loan as a sweetener in addition to the huge transfer fee, I could see that happening.

Lol have u been under a rock? Walker was amacably sold for £50m odd. Rose is trying to force a move, you think we will turn belly up and wait to be tickled. He is currently injured and has no return date, certainly not before the window closes, has currently 4 years left on his contract. If there is a transfer it will be a big one.
Why he would cost more than Walker considering that:

a) he is around as good as Walker.
b) he is injury prone, Walker isn't.
c) he is injured right now, making the transfer riskier.
d) Walker has performed longer in the top level.

Why would any "big" team possibly want him then lol?

Even if we were stupid enough to offer Martial for Rose, no danger Martial would want that move.

If he was available one of europes top clubs would want him.

Cause he is the best LB in the league (at least until Mendy fires). But then Shaw was that a few years ago.

My point is that he's a way riskier transfer than Walker and is at best, as good as Walker. So why he should cost more?

Hope we can pull a rabbit out of a hat.
I just want someone to give Rashford or Martial more space.
Look at how much Moreno helped Mane yesterday.
