Spurs played practically half of last season without Rose, with no real fluctuation in results; same happened when Kane was out, they keep winning. Pocchettino deserves a lot of credit for that.

If I was them I'd gladly cash in, and take Shaw plus about £20m, then use the money received to give the remaining key players big pay rises. I think Pocchettino takes Shaw to Rose levels by Christmas anyway; he's that kind of coach.

Beyond Shaw, they could bring in Bertrand and Sessegnon, loaning the latter out.

Rose will be a huge upgrade for United, the player himself gets to play for a mega club up north on big wages and Tottenham get money and a replacement for a player who they have learned to live without anyway; everyone is a winner.

They still have the strongest spine in the league and will still be competing up at the top of the league next season but I think Mourinho's know-how and fine-tuned squad will be enough for United to clinch it.

You're right, though, we do pay premium rates. Because we can afford to. Sure we pay over the odds from time to time, well all the time if we're being honest, but that's simply the price of success. Our general pay rate is not exclusive to English players predominantly, we pay top dollar for literally any player to whom we purchase, regardless of heritage.

Shaw showed potential but never deserved the type of contract we offered him. We did what we had to though. When our league position isn't the best, we have to lure players with higher wages which is a whole lot better than not being able to compete for sure.

Although if I looked at some of the best performing left backs in other leagues, I am pretty certain I'd find good players who are earning half of what Danny Rose does, those players would still move for a 65K salary. Spurs should try to get as much money from us as possible and find a suitable replacement.

End of the day, it's not my money and I want to see the best players at United. Although we just saw Mendy move to City and he's a better full back so that's disappointing.

Paying high salaries is not the cause of our failures. We just paid high salaries to wrong players. For example, signing Di Maria instead of Sanchez. Paying top dollar however, brought us players who helped us achieve our goals last season which was to qualify for CL. We need to become better at identifying the right players. If the only way we can get these players is by paying them extortionate amounts, then so be it.
 
@GlastonSpur I don't think I've ever had any communication with you on here, but since I've seen you on here, everything seems to become some sort of Spurs and United comparison to you.

If you're really sure in your mind that Spurs are better than United in every way, then just be at peace with that. I wouldn't go on an Everton forum and turn everything into a comparison
 
Glaston is actually arguing against Rose here, this is ridiculous.
Utd didn't ask Rose to do this, tell him what to say or how to feel about Spurs policy.
Trying to turn this on Utd as if he's giving his thoughts on us is beyond a joke.
Thats Dier who wanted to join us and now Rose is open to it.
Thats on Spurs, it doesn't matter how many boxes we tick

Well United are the benchmark of success in the PL, so that much doesn't come as a surprise.

Playing in the EL - which was one of the trophies concerned last season - is not "playing at the highest level".

Does it? All I've seen so far is a fat £50m rooster coming into Spurs from selling Walker.

Everyone else (as usual) is the long-predicted-but-never quite-happening mass exodus of our star players. Ah well, there's always "next summer" - again as usual - for the wishful thinkers.

I normally don't get involved in your stuff, for a variety of reasons, but United are in the Champions League this season. Higher seeds than Spurs, at that.

Do you think these feelings are isolated to Rose only?

Your other players with even higher market value will be thinking the same, and you are literally the only Spurs supporter on here denying that fact, all the other ones agree.

If Rose has these ideas you can bet your ass Alli and Kane does as well. They would both rake in £250k\week at the right club, with equal or greater chances of trophies.

Must admit that I am puzzled to why it hasn't happened already, too late in this window for them to kick up a fuss but as you say, "next summer"..

Ten years ago you were at around 50% of our revenue,57% of Arsenal and 77% of Liverpool.

Now your at 40%,57% and 69%.

(With Liverpool back in European football it will probably go down even further)

You always go on about how well your run but the gap is actually growing.

I think Levy has done a good job but he faces a uphill struggle to get Spurs close to the other big clubs who aren't heavily subsidized by the owners.

Spurs really messed up in the 80s and 90s IMO.

A spurs player has said that Spurs pay peanuts, lack ambition , That you have to look their signings up on google because you have never heard of them and have won nothing in almost forever.

Why are people even letting Glaston turn this to being about United?

Unless we show interest in buying him this has nothing to do with us. This is all about how small time Spurs are still nothing to do with us.

How are Tottenhams wages compared to Liverpool & Arsenal? Do you know?
(talking key-players and first teamers mostly)

If you compete or are relatively close to them on wages, then you're doing as well as you can I think.
I agree that comparing yourselves to sugardaddy-backed or us is a bit of a longshot for anyone to expect on wages.

They were 'OK' letting go of 50% because 40% already replace him in the first 11.

I've provided explanations for the puzzlement of United fans many times before, but you won't have it, claiming that I'm the one who is deluded, but all the while failing to provide any alternative explanation beyond "puzzlement" and endless claims of "next summer".

Fair enough if you think you as a club and trophy hauler has the pull to retain your most prized assets on 1\3 of their market value. I admire your optimism.

That being said it must be some glory and pull down there at Tottenham, totally dwarfs the aura of Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively. In the long run I don't even think those two giants would have managed to hold on to their stars on 1\3 of wages offered elsewhere and with a prolonged trophy draught.

This is part of the "puzzlement" of some United fans ... that they insist on offering up inflated figures. Is another club going to offer Rose £195k per week? I don't think so. Is another club going to offer Kane £390k per week? Again I don't think so.
