I don't think he's any better than Bent or Defoe when they were emerging, from what (admittedly little) ive seen of him.

Meh. I still don't rate him. He plays for himself.

He'll go on to have a decent Premier League career similar to the likes of Defoe but won't make it at Chelsea or A.N.Other big club.

He's way ahead of Defoe in terms of talent. Is proving why I was right to rate him ahead of Walcott. This kid has the technique and the pace to suceed, not to mention a decent amount of vision and finishing ability. Just needs the right people to guide him, he needs to get away from Chelsea.

He's a good little player. Chelsea will probably take him back, but his chances will be limited and he'll go on to a mid table club, which, if he can't take being a substitute, is probably his level.

Why are people so quick to say that he won't make it?

From what I've seen (a fair bit) he's pacey, skilful and technically gifted. Looks to have an eye for goal too. Definitely got all the attributes needed to be very good. Think he'll at least be a squad player for Chelsea, maybe even a starter.

Sturridge should move away from Chelsea. I don't see how he's going to get any opportunities there in front of the likes of Anelka and Torres (assuming Drogba's gone at the end of the season). He'll be third choice striker at best, and at this stage of his career he needs to be regularly getting games..something he's getting at Bolton.

I thought he was pretty good when he was at Man City, the first goal he got today was really top drawer stuff.

He's played a lot on the right side of a 4-3-3 for both Chelsea and the U21's, looked very good at times too. Should get some chances if they go back to that next season (which is likely)

I have him penned down on the wide right for next season, Torres down the middle and someone brought in for down the left.

He's class. Like Welbeck he's showing how good he is when you give him a chance. Now that he's got a taste for first team football Chelsea will struggle to keep him without guarantees.

Defoe looked better at the same age (probably due to getting a lot more first team football). At least he did for my money, I may well be wrong and I'm sure others will disagree.

Biggest mistake he made was running after money once City let him go.

Always looked to have the ability to produce moments of class. It's whether he's capable of putting it all together consistently that's to be seen. Seems to be doing that now on loan. Big test, like for Welbeck, will be whether he can do it at the club he has a permanent contract at. I reckon he'll be good enough.

City didn't let him go, they wanted him to stay.

Ok I'll rephrase. I think it was stupid of him to go to Chelsea once his contract expired with City. He should have gone somewhere he would get regular first team football and after that move to a big club. Looks like he didn't really learn from the likes of Parker and SWP who got ruined at Chelsea.

Parker and SWP didn't get ruined at Chelsea, they just discovered they're not good enough to be starters in a top club. At least they won things while at Chelsea, which they are yet to do anywhere else.

Sturridge is 21 years old, he has his whole career ahead of him. To suggest that he was wrong to join Chelsea because he's not a starter at 21 is ridiculous, plus he had serious injury problems in his first season and a half.

I think bacterial is the worst of the lot, but all forms are relatively dangerous considering what meningitis does.

A few websites and papers are suggesting a move to Liverpool.

Hope it does not happen, he's frustrating as feck at times but has a lot of talent.

You think he will ever be more than decent selfish goalscorer with a limited team game?

Sturridge is the perfect example of what happens to potentially top tier young talent when they make the wrong career moves. He is not being nurtured correctly, and all those minor faults that clubs who care about player development would've fixed, are becoming major issues that can be seen as inherent flaws in his game.

If he carries along his current trajectory, he'll get nowhere near the heights his talent once warranted.

I'm not so sure he's made bad career moves thus far to be fair.

Moving from City to Chelsea wasn't the worst move, just look at what happened to Johnson at City. At Chelsea he made a very good loan move to Bolton and then upon returning was given an extended run in the Chelsea first team.

It's now that he needs to make a defining career move, personally I think the scousers would be ideal for him.

Problem you've got is that Torres doesn't play well alongside another striker, so it's unlikely him & Sturridge will ever form a deadly partnership. Letting him go however, will leave you short up front should the Spaniard get injured or needs resting.

I'd take him over Carroll for the simple fact that he actual moves out there on the pitch......I like players that move.

Normally when I hate players, it's because they're cnuts or even that it's annoying that they're pretty good. I hate Sturridge because he is shit. His shitness makes a fan of another club hate him. Quite a feat.

He was shit tonight, Keane had his number then Sturridge thought he was the shit once Wootton gifted a goal him. I'd fecking hate to play with him.
