Cricket:India's tour of England 2011

Should get another 100 runs and declare. David Lloyd saying rain expected for the last session today. Another 100 runs will ensure there's no way India can come into the match, even if we go on and make 450+, we'll have only a lead of 100 and at best 2 sessions left.

Not that we'll make 450.

Yeah, well the weather has fecked this up already, perhaps a little more wisdom in Weaste's idea than first appears.

They should do a bit of 20/20 and declare early, but they'll grind on which risks a wash out.

Yeah but their best and fastest bowlers have come from the Punjab...can't think of many genuine pacers from the NW but I agree, genetics do play a factor. And I'm stronger than the lot of you...therefore I'm genetically superior.

How comes you know so much about Pakistan genetics!! You from Pakistan?

Cook's 200. England have scored 6 double-centuries in the last 18 months. In the previous 16 years before that England also scored 6 double-centuries.

Amazing really, I think they said on commentary Flower's average when he got a hundred was 345. Really think that this is his influence.

Morgan is looking horribly out of nick, any decent bowling fielding combination would have got him long ago.

Morgan may lose his place in this line-up. England have a number of options for number 6 in the wings.

After Trott is back, you might as well just push Prior to 6th as Bresnan and Broad are very well capable of 7 and 8. And you could add another Bowler or even a spinner.

Think what England really want is one of Rashid or Borthwick to step up as leg-spinning all-rounders. That would really complete the team.

They should have an option to swap a session for 100 runs or something. Some seriously pointless cricket going on most of the time when we're bowling.

Yeah, I'm an avid cricket watcher and even I'm getting bored! Its going to be one of the worst test match centuries ever from Morgan, and I'm saying that as a massive fan of his!

James Taylor on 88 not out for the Lions. Interested as to who England have lined up to replace Strauss. Apparently from what I've heard they earmarked Taylor for that role earlier in the season, opening him in the Lions games, but interesting now that they've dropped him back down to 4 and have slightly over promoted the talented but raw Joe Root. Wonder if he's the one they've got in mind.

And if I were an Indian selector I think after this series I would be dropping Laxman and Raina for Rohit Sharma and Pujara. Although Laxman's a quality player you need to phase out at least one of the three in the middle order for the simple fact that with them there the fielding is not good enough, and I'd pick Dravid on the evidence of this series over Laxman.

Also don't know who, but find any old bowler with a bit of pace! Even though I'm sure that is exactly what Fletcher will do.

I've actually decided to go outside this afternoon instead of watch the Cricket - it's that easy for us.

feck sake India.

Hopefully once Morgan gets his ton he'll just whack it around.

I see what you're saying, but I'd just wait another 3-6 months for Sachin to retire. Replacing him with one of the younger lot will improve the fielding massively.

Laxman's got more than a year to offer. Also, Laxman stands in the slips, so not as big an impact.

Our fielding problem's heavily concentrated in our bowling unit, who are all terrible fielders. The younger generation's no different.

Our performance on this tour has been a disgrace to be honest. As has the planning and prioritization. We're getting exactly what we deserve.

And I do hope we start looking to the future big time. I hope Sachin, Dravid, Laxman etc call it a day soon. They've been absolute legends and greats of the game and one is in my opinion the greatest but none of them are going to suddenly hit their prime in the future. We're talking about chaps that are 37, 38 etc. I can only see them getting worse with time, even if we consider this tour an aberration. Maybe another year at most to make sure we get back on track as a team with this shamble of a tour being a blip. But we need to build for a batting line up that isn't on it's last legs.

Same goes for our bowling. Need to work hard to move past the reliance on Zaheer just as we need to move on past a reliance on 'the big three'.

Yes, yes and yes, but do you think a board that recalled Dravid for the ODIs has the foresight to look beyond the next 2 weeks?

Bunch of useless plonkers. The sad thing is, we have plenty of very talented batsmen who could make the grade if given time. Rahane, Mukund, Pujara, Kohli, Pandey, Sharma and Raina if he works on his short ball weakness.. I am sure out of that lot, there's at least 2 who will make it, if not more.

feck the batsmen, our bowlers don't have anything about them. It's so frustrating.

Well, the best thing about the bowling is it can't get any worse. There's nothing on the horizon now, but I'm sure there'll be a player or two in 2-3 years. Unadkat looked a decent prospect, except for some reason he was selected for the tour of SA when he should be playing u-19 cricket somewhere. The only way is up.

There is Ashwin on the spin front and I have read good things about Iqbal Abdulla. Chawla's still young and there's Ojha... mind you, we'll probably see Harbhajan for the next 5-8 years.

We have loads of talent. Recalling Dravid was a daft move to be honest. You're the world champions of that format. Yes, it's been an appalling performance all tour long and will probably leak over into the ODI's as well but why sacrifice a youngster who has obviously made it to the ODI team on merit and will be around for awhile?

Heck we have had loads of bowling talent in recent times too but they're managed awfully.

Basically BCCI do nothing if it's not a) for money reasons or b) a quick fix.

Oh dear. I'm off to watch the spoof of him making giant balls.
