Cricket:India's tour of England 2011

I can't stand the BBC online commentary. It's nothing to do with the match, it's all about Tom Fordyce or whoever. Stop showing off, stop 'bantering' like you're in the pub with your unfunny mates, and just tell me what's happening. Twats.

It's alright with audio commentary to have that 'banter', in text it's terrible.

I thought you meant TMS there for a minute, which would have been hugely unfair. Henry Blofeld is an amazing commentator - he and Boycott just had 15 minutes describing cakes and cheese they were sent during drinks.

Oh definitely, TMS banter is great. But they refrain from all this 'Brezzers' and 'Broady' business. I can't stand all the Oxbridge good-laddery interspersed with crap puns from 606 and pointless remarks about the crowd.

England are unoriginal with their nicknames, aren't they?

Straussy, Cookie, Belly, Colly, Swanny, Broady, Finny..

"SLAP! Bell cuffs Sharma away for four in front of square. CRASH! He repeats the trick with effortless timing behind square. Absolute filth, this bowling, but Bell isn't moaning - 25 runs from 20 balls. Can we play you every week etc etc?"

That is shocking commentary to be fair.

Can we cancel the rest of this series and rustle up a rest of the world team to try and get some competition?

My prediction of 2006. I'm giving myself a pat.

The main thing I notice from there is this post.

Funnies post of the year. Irfans at 21 is one of the best bowlers in the world. Theres noone in cricket who swings the ball like him. Pace isnt everything, as was proven when he wrecked Pakistan last time round and Shoaib got battered by us as usual. Mcgrath never had pace.. and dont talk about us overrating him. The english are masters at this.. Flintoff, Peterson etc its a fecking joke. Lets face it when a sport is big in a country and is loved that much, everything becomes slightyl overrated. Engish footballers for example.

And yes we have the best spin attack in the world. Lanka just have murli, Australia just have Warne. We have Harbhajan and Kumble.. watch out for the 17 year old Chawla, big talent, hel take over from these two hopefully.

Seriously why bother posting when you have such rubbish to spout.

So many young players that will be best in the world, ouch.

Anyone notice Pietersen scraping his bat on the shirt of one of the Indian fieldsmen just then, after being given not out caught on review? Seems likely he was accused of having smeared vaseline along the edge of the bat!!

What a performance this is by the lads. England the best test side in the world. Growing up in the 90s. I never thought I'd see the day.

On the flip side India are shocking. No fight whatsoever. No spirit. Theyve looked uninterested.

Irfan looked like a world beater 5 years ago tbf, Wasim Akram mould. And he said Ashley Giles was a better bowler than either Bhaji/Kumble 5 years ago, that is  worthy.

And btw, hindsight...

When you talk in certainties as he did you leave yourself open to ridicule, just as I did further up the page if you manage to get any kind of result in this test.

First of all, we won't get any kind of result so I think you're safe. Secondly Irfan was coming after a smashing series in Australia and Pakistan, and looked like a world beater and it's also clear that he was wound up by Spoony a little bit.

KP out btw, against the run of play.

I'm a bastard for speaking in certainties, I always do it, more often than not I'm called out on it, however judging someone on 2 series is crazy reason to say they are already one of the best in the world and going down equal to the names he mentioned.

Anyone that gets wound up by spoony gets what they deserve, his wums are blatant every time.

From the Guardian:

Since Graham Gooch has become England batting coach, Cook's average when he passes 100 is 209.

Amazing, he just doesn't get bored! Though Gooch was always Cook's personal mentor, so I think it may just have something to do with his maturing.

Rumours that KP's on his way up to the commentary box swinging his blade after reading that 1723 update are nothing more than mischei... Kevin! Nice to see you! Fordyce? Sorry, I'm Sam Sheringham. I know. Yes, often mistaken for him. Eh? No, he's left the country. For good.

No-one cares about you or your unfunny shit... tell us the fecking cricket score

Thank god for the online commentary, or I'd have nothing to moan about this summer....

Ditch that and go for cricinfo
Quicker and better than BBC

Morgan's been lucky so far, his 70 in the last test was against some shocking bowling and other than that he hasn't really looked that great so far. Hopefully he comes good, as I think he's a fantastic option to have in the Test side.

It's the rate of scoring that is a joke here imo
None of the bowlers seem able to build pressure
England are scoring far too quickly, which just leaves so much more time and more pressure on India

Think its a shame for India that Pujara is injured. He looked a very good player in South Africa, much better than Raina.

Also can any of the resident Indians tell me what's happened to Vijay? Always looked good as well to me.

Sadly, India are a joke. What a shame to see this kind of pathetic effort for Tendulkar's last tour of England.
