The South Africans are close but I think our depth is better.
Shehzad, Dernbach and Onions could all be considered in the future too for the Test team.
Indeed, Onions was fantastic pre-injury, if he gets that form back our bowling would be unstoppable.
He's often forgotten is Monty, a very good spinner on his day. Bats like a real number 11 but can spin the ball.
Dernbach looks like a limited overs bowler with those cutters and slower balls.
I don't really rate Shehzad, but yeah I forgot the Onions.
Well, I only hesitated as Monty did go off the boil somewhat in tests, but he is still young. If Swann cannot play the next Test I would relish his appearance.
I wonder whether Rashid and Patel will ever make the grade?

I'd rate Rashid ahead of Patel personally and would much rather him in the side. Not sure why but I'd definitely back Adil out of the two.
Patel is far too big to be a top sportsman - he's a real bloater. The game has changed, you can't get away with all those pies any more.
If there is no Swann though he did bat and is fielding who do you go with Rashid or Monty.
