Cricket:India's tour of England 2011

Ganguly saying that Harbhajan showing some fight. It would've been better if he could've shown something with his bowling.

I truly believe he's becoming a better batsman than bowler. And he isn't too great at batting either.

I agree with amol actually. It would have been good if Sachin got his 100 today so that pressure would be gone.

Another drop from England, that's been their only problem this series so far.

Holds on to it this time, 8 down & Bresnan has his 5th wicket.

Does Praveen still think they can win/draw this? Take the runs!

He just hit a 4, I think he believes that he has a better chance of making the runs while Sharma is not as good with the bat.

He's showing some responsibility and if they manage to bat out the day then fair enough but it's a strange tactic given the situation.

Not batting out the day, just been bowled. Start the car...

All over, England with another huge win.

I don't even watch one day cricket to be honest, test cricket is the only thing I enjoy. There's something about the attritional nature of it that doesn't exist in any other team sport.

I couldn't give a toss for one-day cricket. 20/20 is alright for a laugh but I don't even consider it to be cricket. It's the ebb & flow of a Test series that I enjoy. It's like reading a long novel with multiple sub-plots and characters compared to the Beano.

Who'd have thought England would win so comfortably after the first two sessions? Great fightback.

Brilliant performance by England. Recovered exceptionally after the first innings, bowled well and then followed it up with a terrific second innings performance. Fielding is the only aspect which needs improvement but you expect they'll work on that.

The bowling in second innings was fantastic, Bresnan surely cannot be dropped after his performance and Broad has returned to good form. Fact that Tremlett, who has bowled brilliantly since his return to the side, may struggle to get into the team is testament to the strength in depth of England's bowling.

India have big problems, Zaheer should be back for the next test but the batting is a big concern. One more win for England and they'll be the number 1 Test side.

Stuart Broad: Eight wickets for 76 runs in the match, including a hat-trick and devastating spell of five wickets for no runs in 16 balls, plus 110 runs at key stages in the England batting performances.

Really excited about this England team, all apart from Strauss have another 5 years minimum in them, massive depth and quality in all departments.

I also think that some of the young players in county cricket like Bairstow, Taylor, Briggs, Meaker, Ansari and Rossington are potentially pretty special. All we need now is a Warne!

What a side we are looking like at the moment.

Just re-read the first few pages of this thread.

Oh dear....

Isnt there only about 4 or 5 good teams anyways?

Actually, apart from football, you could say that about any other sport.

As an aside, why did Dravid bat without a helmet in the second innings? That was a throwback to Viv Richards and Richie Richardson!

Reading the first two pages is amusing. The Indian contingent have seriously underestimated England. Which is understandable because England have flattered to deceive in the past.

However under Strauss there is a real fight in this team, and an ability to come back from disappointments. I think he is overtaking Vaughan as the best England captain of my time.

India on the other hand look disinterested. This is a team that could lose its no.1 ranking and I don't think they are too bothered about it at all.

How would this England team have done against the last great test team of Australia?

I'm really starting to believe England have similar quality, and if anyone thinks I'm being biased, I'm Irish.

You are way off. England have a long way to go before being compared to the last great Aussie team. People are getting carried away by these 2 tests wins, strong teams are always expected to win at home. We beat that Aussie team at home every time bar once. Once you start dominating away from home at places like India and SA, you can start thinking about that. And once you start putting up 10+ test match winning streaks, you can start comparing.

To be fair, it's silly to compare any of the current sides with the great Oz teams. They would've gone right through this England batting line up...and I suspect the batting would've been too strong for the bowling too.

Yeap. The top 3 teams right now are way off that level. Thankfully as well since it is better than one team completely dominating

Only three decent teams left in the test arena though, which is a bit of a shame. The others are pretty poor at the proper stuff - suppose Oz are okish but the others are naff.

Yes. That Australian team was one of the greatest sporting teams ever. Noone today is even within 5 levels of them. And didn't we beat them in their different phases twice at home? These things happen. Top teams should win at home. That's why when we drew against SA in SA if anyone took the advantage from that it was us.

Right now world cricket has basically a few good teams rather than one team that pisses over the rest from a a great height.

The only team that could've matched that great oz team on a regular basis was the West Indies of Live Lloyd.

Lots of talk about the run out incident on Cricinfo. In the end it didnt really matter but if India had lost by 20 runs I'm not sure how I would've felt about the reversal.
