Cricket:India's tour of England 2011

I hope the bloody IPL gets banned and we stop losing players like Sehwag to injury after every edition.

This I agree with.

But that's where the money is and the BCCI will continue to give it and One day cricket precedence. We really should have taken a break post the IPL. The team has played non stop cricket since forever and then half the team rests or is injured before this away series with barely any practice to get used to the conditions. It's typical of how BCCI plan things in a shoddy manner in order to get the best financial gains.

We should take a cue from Broad and Swann in the sense that they were able to score so quickly against the older ball. That's when the game will open up for us like it did for England. The hard part is surviving till then.

How long has Bhajji got in this team? He's getting from bad to worse with each passing game.

Somebody should tell Gavaskar that Mukund's first name is Abhinav and not Young.

And he needed the batsman to throw the wicket away rather than any great bit of bowling. When I saw your thread titled 'players living off past reputations' I thought you were referring to him. It's shocking that he hasn't ever been dropped from the team over the last God knows how many years.

It's frustrating. Atleast give Amit Mishra a chance.

Laxman hits a boundary and suddenly the Caf can't take the strain!

Agree. Surely Dravid can be dropped than Harbhajan can given the latter is nowhere near the level of the former.

I can understand not taking risks but this is taking the piss from India.

WTF?

England scored some 9 runs in their first 7 overs. You lot are embarrassing.

We should bring Kumble back out of retirement. He'd do a far better job than Bhajji.

What I don't understand is how there's been no noise about it. It's as if he's got too great a legacy to be dropped which he clearly hasn't.

The news channels did criticize him heavily after the Lords test.

Well that's now. But it should have happened awhile back. Alright I appreciate he's experienced and bowls with a lot of heart. But it's almost become the done thing that if India play one spinner it HAS to be Harbhajan. Given we rarely play two spinners these days we should be giving the likes of Mishra chances to prove themselves and maybe exceed Harbhajan.

The only news I see regarding Bhajji is with regard to that ad and Mallaya.

Excellent over by Broad.

England unlucky not to have had a couple more wickets. But I think England are in big trouble here. I think the 3 wickets will decide the match.

Why?

220 is a pretty decent score on this pitch. It's a brilliant pitch for swing bowling.

So that wasn't bad at all. Got England all out for 220(which should be much less though) and only lost one wicket in the last twenty overs.

Yeah. I'm happy with the day's play. Had we finished them off for 150 we would have had a HUGE advantage. As things stands, it's pretty even. But it seems there's definitely going to be a result here so we can't say we don't have a chance. It's up to the players to take it.

I think Dravid and Laxman did pretty well to survive this. If we can get a 75-100 runs lead, then we would be in pretty good position for the match.

Well played by Dravid and Laxman, though we really deserved another wicket. A lot of close calls.

Again, why did Laxman come up ahead of Sachin today? Is Sachin still suffering from the fever or was it just tactical?

If we get that big a lead we'll win this match.

Sachin always bats at number 4. Generally the best player in the team tends to stick to a position and others can float.
