Confirmed: Moyes sacked.

I think Moyes would gladly turn in that money if he could regain his reputation.

He is only 50 years old. He still had a long future as a manager. Now he will never coach a big club again.

He wasn't going to coach a big club on the first place if it wasn't for his relations with Sir Alex. There is a reason why only a few managers manage top clubs.

It would be 4.5m + the 4.5m he has had from this year + any signing on bonus he may have had + his earnings from Everton, + any money he has got from doing TV appearances.

He is a very very rich man and he never took me for the kind of party boy anyway, so I doubt he would spunk 9 million on cocaine, hookers and gambling.

He'll probably do some tv work, maybe write a book, take a break and then go to work at another club.

We should not be feeling sorry for him because of the money. I do feel sorry for him for the whole worldwide humiliation and embarrassment.

Agreed.

You only need to see the buoyancy in this forum to understand what a relief to the squad his departure will probably be. 4 wins in a row after this. Onwards and upwards.

I don't feel sorry for him, not because he is well off financially, but because of his conduct at the job.

Surely he had to go "up" after the job he did st Everton. The United job may have been 'too big' but what else is there. Spurs? Arsenal, City, Chelsea? Or abroad? International?

They changed the managers a billion times during Moyes days and never were interested for him. He wasn't going to get those jobs (especially not the last two). On International again the big clubs wouldn't be ever interested for him.

After the job he has done at Everton, he had to go sidaways of stay there (what an unfortune would it be for their fans). Don't get me wrong, he did a superb job to make them from relegation fodder, to a midtable stable team. He never showed anything that he can take a team higher than that. I mean, Pulis did pretty much the same with Stoke and is doing the same (though only for a few months) with Crystal Palace (who were destined to finish 20th while now look that they'll finish on 11-10th position). But Moyes style of play and his zero trophies, wouldn't give him a top job. This was confirmed here, right?

I said it at that time, that Moyes is really overrated here, not because of his quality, but because of his longivity. He stayed for a long time in a club when no-one bigger asked for him, that was what gave him the job here in the first place.

If it turns out that Moyes has not been sacked, it would be like a really shitty Easter miracle. Rising from the dead and all that.

No one would be rejoicing though.

There is something wrong with a world where being fired for being an abject failure and failing to hit every single target set for you results in a 7 figure payoff.

The way he blamed everybody but himself for the struggles. The way he treated the squad in the press. There are many things.

I think this is a complete exaggeration. He wasn't great in press conferences - big wow. He didn't 'treat' the squad badly in the press - he's (was) the manager and is entitled to actually speak and was massively more complimentary to the squad than we ever were on the cafe.

Nothing wrong with it if the employer chooses to give out a 6 year contract. I don't know if Moyes would've accepted, but one year contracts should be the standard when the manager is not proven at this level.

Both warrant criticism. It's a piss poor squad and it was left to him by Ferguson.

I hope if Louis Van Gaal gets the job that he doesn't spend much in the summer and proves you wrong.

I am sick of all the "squad is shit" rubbish.

Went into a shitty mood at work, saw this thread right away and immediately gave me a huge boost.

Fantastic news, cant wait till we pull the trigger and give him the bullet.

Huge mistake, I said it from day one this guy was never United quality.

I fully agree. Chelsea fans were talking the same BS when AVB did to them what Moyes did to us. The same squad went on to win the CL under Di Matteo.

I agree. Blaming the squad many times, and even taking a subtle shot at Fergie were poor things to do and say imo.
And somehow a few caftards are disgusted that some players didn't play for him. I mean, having an idiot - on professional terms - as your boss who ridicules you everytime things go wrong, would pretty much make all people to now give 100% for him.

So Ogden, Castles and Daniel Taylor are suddenly not credible?
What you on? Even Samuel has bashed out a piece. Winter was all the confirmation you needed.
I don't know. I have heard many things in the past..

May be it's because I was so sure he wasn't going to be sacked, no more than a couple of days ago, so not easy for me to believe otherwise. And then again why didn't the club say anything today?

Not sure. Hope it's true, but I'll believe it when I see it. Somebody from the club. Don't have to be a decision, but at least a hint.

The squad has issues. I think we all know that, Fergie did miracles with it. It shouldn't be this far off the pace though.

Said bollocks will be smashed to pieces next season and I can't wait. A manager with imagination will restore the confidence and quality coaching into this hugely talented squad.

I've read a fair bit that he doesn't like to spend. I think one of the German guys on here said the board at Bayern basically bought Toni, Ribery etc because Van Gaal wouldn't.

Mostly, they bought those two guys because LvG was not our manager yet when they came here. He did help bring in Robben as the big signing in his first season, though, and he was exactly what we needed.

Sleep tight, mate. He's gone.

The silence is deafening. If the club had of wanted to put the issue to bed, they would have immediately issued a statement of support for the manager. The fact that it's been radio silence out of Old Trafford, combined with so many media outlets simultaneously broadcasting the same news pretty much implies that they were briefed in some way by someone high up in the club, especially as they've been pretty lenient on Moyes the entire season, even through all the disasters.

Finally got to the bottom of what triggered the decision

What more do you need other then the club refusing to comment on all the reports (from literally everyone) that he will be sacked. If that isn't a very strong hint, then nothing is. If he wasn't going to be sacked, then they would come out to deny it as they did before this season.

Wow... now that we're 98% getting him sacked, I kinda feel for him.

But then again, I remember how he shafted Rene, Phelan, Fabio, Zaha, Giggs, how he fined Cleverly for going out 10 days (ten fecking days) before a match, his SAF comment, his smirk, his paycheck

Nah... thanks for the dour memories and being a bumper for Post SAF, but i don't think I'll miss him one bit

He is very definitely gone. The journalists reporting it are as reliable as you can get and there would have been a denial from the club if it was untrue.

Now, I fear for the future. Sacking Moyes was a good decision but we can still screw things up worse if we pick the wrong manager again.

If we do get the right guy, and we do give him a big budget, then things will be good again. I'm worried though.

I'd still rather we wait until he has performed miracles at other clubs before we consider him.

Im not sure about Simeone either haven't seen enough of how his teams play.

But if he is the real deal what would have happened if we had waited for SAF to perform his Aberdeen miracles at other clubs, makes you think.

Simeones stint at Atletico so far is starting to resemble Ferguson breaking the old firm strangle hold in scotland while winning in europe as well.
