Confirmed: Moyes sacked.

Not Van Gal, he's a fruit loop.

Is it too much to dream that giggs will just be the best manager in the world?

We should have given him the job from the beginning. Now we will never know if he would have made a great manager. 4 games is not enough to evaluate and United will bring a big name in the summer.

I hate to see city bankers getting huge pay-offs for failure, and the same applies here. £4.5m (apparently) for being an utterly incompetent waste of time. Frustrating.

yes

Fruit loop maybe but if you're looking at someone who can bridge a gap for two or three years he could be the man. If who we want long-term isn't available I'd rather us make a coherent short-term appointment rather than make someone second, third or fourth choice the job under another 6 year contract.

The one thing I dread is having a decent end to the season and the "Give Sir Ryan the job!!" nonsense bandwaggon that'll inevitably start to roll

It will roll but I seriously doubt the Glazers would even consider him and that's all that matters.

Giggs the job from the beginning? Have you had you head in the oven?

Agreed although it'll be unbearable on here from some of the mob who probably had Clayton Blackmore in their top 5 choices last summer

I hardly think this is a "ruthless" sacking.

We've given him a lot more time than most clubs would have done, and he's had chance after chance.

If anything we've been lenient with him. Most clubs would have sacked him around Christmas.

Could this thread reach 100 pages before David Moyes is sacked in the morning? The rate at which this is growing is unbelievable. How are the newbs doing?

I reckon. I'm not going to bed until it's official. I just need a few more warriors to keep it rolling.

It is not frustrating. The man needs to be paid something regardless of the kind of job he did. That is how the world works.

How could he think that Moyes hasn't been given time? As well as having the money to fix any problems that he found...

Yesterday, Moyes couldn't see that Rooney was terrible, or maybe he was too afraid to pull him out of the game. Moyes couldn't shore up the midfield or fix the defense. He couldn't rearrange the players. He couldn't do anything but sit on the sidelines and wring his hangs*. (*he'll also wring his hands)

What values does Gary have? Seems like the values are a batch of entitlements -- GN thinking that ability isn't needed, that talent isn't needed, that just being in the right place at the right time is all that matters or maybe it's all down to who you know.
You're making it out like his views are exclusive to United? He has made his views in regards to this known for a while now, and in several other cases where managers have been sacked (in his opinion) prematurely. His values are based on patience, and giving people a chance to grow into their roles, and to rectify the mistakes they've made. It's not rocket science.

I don't understand how you can't see where he's coming from just because you disagree with him. I'm 100 % in the Moyes out camp, but hearing opposing at the very least makes you think about your position.

The newbs always managed to find fantastic sources, when I was in the newbs, I would often read both the newbs thread and the mains thread on a topic. The newbs would often find information that would never be posted in the mains. Bet their thread is a cracker.

Also, don't believe a word this rag writes but... someone might be bored, or something: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ent-running-Alex-Ferguson-pushing-change.html

James Ducker and his views on Klopp. Read from the bottom up:

Resorting to insults are we now?

That's fine, it's your opinion. You asked for mine and I gave it.
Considering you bolded and agreed with calling me a "modern shitty fan", I'd suggest you not bring up insults. I'd also suggest that if you'd rather United win a meaningless game to give Liverpool the title, then you're missing out on the seething hatred that makes being a football fan so glorious.

Nothing ruthless about it.

Much of the media abroad have actually vented their surprise at us keeping him around as long as we have, with suggestions that he could have been "sacked three times" in Italy or France. Its only the media here which seems to have bought in to this British manager hardon hype train that's sad to see him go.

It isn't just this season with Moyes, it was last summer. He doesn't take all the blame for our window embarrassment but he takes a share. He does also take the blame for bottling the decisions. There's no need to wait a year to decide Giggs was old, Cleverley wasn't much cop and our wingers were on the the wane. ALL the issues that faced the manager last summer will face the new manger this summer with one or two more added. Moyes bottled it and put off the big decisions last year which counts against him as much as the results IMO.

It's the club fault for offering him a stupid contract, it's pocket change to them so doubt they're worried about his compensation package.

Yeah, in many ways the similarities are striking.

Moyes hasn't destroyed the economy, but he's kind of destroyed our team (for the time being), and he's being given a massive pay-off for what's been a complete failure in footballing terms. That's just galling.

There is nothing wrong in giving the job to someone from the inside the"family". Giggs has been here for 20+ years and knows everything about Untited. He would not have gotten rid of the backroom staff. It would have been a smooth transition. Had he not done a good job, we would be at the same point we are now, but at least you wouldn't have a pissed off dressing room threatening to leave the club.

Work in the NHS or a school, or a small company, fail to meet the targets they set so you're sacked and you will get no pay off at all.

I'll keep my thoughts simple
I think we'll have Van Gaal for 3 yrs. He'll re-boot the club and get us strong and competitive.
Then (like gasmanc said) that will lead us to the end of klopps BD contract. Then I think we'll try to sign him...unless he becomes a failure in the next 3 yrs.

I understand fans wanting klopp now but just based on all of what has been said before. I just don't think that he'll want to leave BD yet...not even for us.

I'd like to see the admins open up the newbie forum on the day the sacking is official. It would be a glorious occasion for all of us to speak with one voice.

Is there any chance at all this could happen?

Knowing where the spare keys to Fergie's drinks cabinet are kept probably shouldn't be high on the criteria list.

If t wasn't for the 'wanna be Brendon' Rodgers from Liverpool emergence, British media would have still being sucking Moyes cock and hailing his achievements of this year for finishing 7th with a Sunday league quality team and counting us how many corners Dave turned this year after every win against the likes of Norwich or Fulham.

Completely agree... People saying he should have had more time, that Ferguson had more time... Ferguson didn't take on a league winning side, with a core of players who've seen multiple Champions League finals and even won one, and transform it into a mid table team. Moyes has had a steep learning curve right from the off... from tactics and how to manage a team that people relish beating every time, to how to address the press with sufficient confidence. The way he's repeatedly lost and been bewildered at how we didn't win, been rebuffed by teams who've sussed his tactics, and thrown his players under the bus... it has infuriated me and a lot of others as the Caf plainly testifies to. This is in no way an impatient call... He's had more time than he should have been allowed. There's teams where you see there's a solid plan being implemented, and where hanges in staff and players have been needed before we see it playing as the manager wants them to, but Moyes has changed up sooo many times this season. He's failed to see it when he's done the right thing, and changed it from one match to the next, and he's gone from being overly reliant on wingers to insisting beyond reason on playing through the middle. The dude just doesn't seem to know.

I was hoping we'd see a different United, with Mata and Kagawa getting some faith to do their thing, and with us seeming organise and disciplined against Bayern, and part of me even thinks the players may have been more revved up for the ECL matches, but the press conferences and his failing to see we were clearly second best against Everton testifies to some supreme ignorance.

I can't wait for the board to pull the trigger.

Given the comments made by an Everton youth coach under Moyes that he was never that interested in the youth set up and how he seems to think the best way to nurture Januzaj was to run the kid into the ground by Christmas and then ensure he went months and months with virtually no football worth mentioning, maybe someone who is going to take an active interest in the academy would be a good idea for the next manager.

Moyes' abandonment of the usual tradition of initiating younger talent in the early rounds of the League Cup was another mark against him for me.

You better get a few hours sleep. The news won't be out till tomorow afternoon/evening (The independent article said that he would still have to take tomorow's training session in the morning)

The newbie threads are crazy. Chaotic. I remember the Thiago thread. The mains' thread was nothing compared to it. Posting tweets from shit ITKs is the norm. There are some really crazy people out there with outrageously wild opinions. But such threads in the newbs are fun. :D

95 fecking pages.
Goddamit! I bet they are more colourful in their posts too. Would love to see some of the gems.

This is a fantastic suggestion. I would definitely like to see something like this. If the whole newbie forum cannot be opened, atleast create a common thread celebrating the sacking!

He's not going to get anywhere near the club until August after the WC, we're at a disadvantage already. Is he really the best option?

No homepage poll on our preferred choice of successor yet? Or are we waiting for official confirmation?
