Confirmed: Moyes sacked.

:lol::lol::lol: Fair play to them.

I'm starting to find these banners, cardboard cutouts and just our rivals obsession with our manager a bit boring to be fair, :(
think it's a bit small time, personally wouldn't give a rats furry ass who Liverpool/City have in employment when watching a United game.

Bits from the Kenwright fans interview from 3 years ago:

Everton were/are a joke, and Moyes deserves tremendous credit for what he did there. Not even sure why I am posting this really.
Honestly its things like that which really made me hope he would be a success here, even after the first half of the season i still held out hope he would turn it about and finish the season strong. But to quote carragher he hasnt given us anything that excites us and makes us believe it will get better.

That that last bit summarises why United are looking to get rid

I've been counter arguing for twenty minutes, and in other threads for weeks. I can't post the same stuff to lazy posters. Imagine sitting in a bar and discussing this for hours, and then some lad triumphantly hands you something you spoke about an hour beforehand. Everyone knows Van Gaals won titles in holland with barca and stuff but I just feel like the analysis has to be deeper than that because of how many managers have won titles with these clubs. I just don't think it's enough to say he's an elite manager without further discussion. No amount of wiki postings of his success in the 90s with Ajax is going to change my mind

Well balu, one of the resident bayern fans, believes he is one of the reasons for their current success, he promoted the right youngsters, put a modern playing style and philosophy in place and obviously did very well before falling behind in his last season. It'd be interesting and he would probably end up falling out with someone but I struggle to believe he would have us out of the top 4 at least.

I too am for getting rid. I just hate the revisionism.

true enough. I've liked Real's team this year, did'nt love Ancelloti before and he's done pretty shit in La Liga but he might be a nice appointment.

I'm not sure about his ability to build teams and replace players and this is what he will have to do here. At Milan he had the best team in the world but when they started fading he was very slow to bring replacements.

Ferdinand's a fan at this point so it's not like he is doing something we wouldn't. All we need now is RVP to tweet van Gaal ;)

He can feck off being a fan. You can be pretty damn sure he hasn't been at all helpful throughout. FFS, however crap Moyes is these players should have been able to secure CL qualification if they kept their shit together.

Dream scenario is Moyes offers to resign so long as he can sack Rio first. That would be quite funny actually.

You should beg for Van Gaal. What a brilliant coach he is.

By the way, us not sticking by Moyes in the form of a statement is us saying he is off

yeah fair enough. it will certainly be interesting. just disappointing for me that we are not going to get a top manager in. I'll support whoever manages, if Van Gaal is appointed tomorrow then I'm his #1 fan. Believe it or not, through all this I wanted Mourinho more than anyone last year. I wanted Ozil more than anyone in the summer. I didn't particularly love Fellaini. But this is how it's gone and I'm happy to have my opinions, and if the club makes a different decision just support that decision. We'll be back in the end, one way or another, but my experiences tell me that chopping and changing will do harm to our chances of this. Lets all just pray that we do the right thing in the next 2 months, whatever that may be

Moyes should be sacked and clearly isn't up to the job but some of the abuse and insults from United and rival fans is sad to see and really harsh. I'm sure he's well aware of this and it must be really painful. We should show some respect to the guy even though he's on the verge of leaving our club. It's not like he failed us on purpose.

Tony Pulis incidentally was managing Gillingham in the 1999 League Two playoff Final against Man City and Gillingham were 2-0 up with 90 minutes gone but still lost.

I lived in Gillingham at the time, and remember that game well. The Gills were absolutely robbed. There was about ten minutes of added time for literally no reason at all. The ref played well over it, too.

The guys with MUTV, there's a live United in Press tomorrow with Jamie Jackson, Ian Herbert and Ian Ladyman tomorrow. Let us know what they say.

yeah very true. not what we really need. just love how tough his team plays the game. but more than anything we need someone who's gonna have a big summer this summer, get players into the club for the future and for now.

I was also at that game, fathers still a big GIlls fan (as well as Utd) Medway is a dive. >.>

I agree, it's undignified from our fans. Can't blame the opposition fans, we'd do the same - and have done plenty of times. Though equally we should remember never feel too sorry for multi-millionaire football managers! I know I'd put up with it for the money.

If Van Haal's greatest strength is coaching and laying strong foundations, then I'd be totally in his favour. I think a quality and progressive "coach" is what we need more than anything right now.

Why would we do that though?
Was thinking the same myself. Any one with more media knowledge than myself know why the club would brief the press about his impending exit? Is it to gauge opinion or what?

I just feel passionately that we should be hiring the best managers. I really dislike Van Gaal as a manager. I'm not the only person in the world, but I do seem to be the only person in this thread.
If the best managers are available then of course. I don't think that anyone is suggesting that we should get Van Gaal if Klopp, or Mourinho or Pep is available. However, neither of them are and likely either Simeone isn't. And of course, the like of Rodgers, Ancelotti, Conte etc.

Which makes Van Gaal one of the best managers who are available. Actually, I think he is easily the best one if you take out those I mentioned. And even two or three years from now, if one of them becomes available or Martinez/Pochetino confirm themselves as top managers then we can sack him and hire that other long term manager. However, until then he is the best possible choice because he has a great history of winning titles (even as recently as 2010 he did the domestic double on Germany, going into UCL final on the process), plays exciting football, give young players a chance and creates a fantastic foundation for his successor. And it is also funny how you say that you don't care what he did on the nineties but then on the same post mention that he was sacked from Barca, you know in the nineties after he won two titles in the row (after Sir Bobby Robson's failure there).

If it is between Van Gaal and Klopp it is an easy choice to go for Klopp. If it is between Van Gaal and Moyes then it is as an easy choice to go for Van Gaal. WHo by the way is 62 years old, almost 15 years younger than Trapatoni, and you know 10 years younger than that guy of Bayern who won the treble last season.

This is surely the most drawn out sacking of a manager? Have to feel for Moyes going to bed tonight completely unsure of what tomorrow brings.

I'm from Medway. Chatham boy me, just like Chris Smalling!

My father routinely points that out about Smalling as well :D Chatham pride!
Shame the Gills couldn't have hung on that game, seeing it out with City failing to gain promotion that year.. and todays City may never have happened :(

Sometimes senior figures in big institutions leak things like this to pressure other senior figures into action. It is far-fetched but it might be that some key figures in the board still don't want Moyes sacked or at least don't want him sacked before the end of the season and this major leak was done to force their hand.

Agreed. That's the way the game is going now, the younger coaches are currently ones dominating the modern game. Not to say LVG wouldn't do a great job for us, I'm sure he would. I think we should go all out for Klopp this summer, why wait?

For the fans, sure. I'd imagine that Moyes knows what's going on, even if that's just he will find out tomorrow.

As a coach he is on the level of Guardiola, Klopp and Bielsa (which IMO are the best coaches in the world). In fact, I think that the only difference between Pep and Van Gaal/Bielsa is that Pep is actually not mental.

Favours and mates?

Hoping Monday Night Football continues the discussion after the City game. I'd imagine some of the tweeted questions will be Moyes related.
