Confirmed: Moyes sacked.

No, in the last few weeks I was certain he would be gone no matter what. But up to then I was fully supporting him and hoping beyond hope that things could turn in his favour.

I can think of no reason even hypothetically why it would be a good thing that we lose a game.

Sorry but you are a modern day shitty fan, that I have little or no time for.
I'd want United to lose a game if it benefits the club longer term. Stops City or Liverpool winning the league, or keeping United out of Europa league.

Ok I'am just going to come out and say this, but I don't have a clue about what Rio exactly meant with his tweet and if this is Dave his response than I also got to admit I have no clue on what he is trying to say. I would really appreciate it if somebody enlightend me.

I mean yea I understand Rio his words, players can't show emotions anymore from the fans and so the gap between them is widening, what is he refering to ? I can also understand that seagulls like sardines and that they are conditioned to follow trawlers and for some kind of reason Moyes is thankfull for that (although most likely it is sarcasm) but really I don't get the underlying meaning of those two tweets and I completley fail to connect the two aswell. Please can somebody explain, much obliged !

You really think David Moyes has a twitter account, what's more one labelled MrUnsackable?

Moyes isn't on Twitter, that's a fake tweet.

As for Rio, he's on drugs. Or something.

  1. The Moyes tweet is not really him.
  2. It is Cantona's famous quote.
  3. It is supposed to be funny because it is completely unrelated. You didn't miss the point. There is no point.

I was just thinking that. We also seem to steal other peoples thunder.

If they must sack Moyes now then fine but I hope they announce the successor on the final day of the season, after our game. And Ryan Giggs' retirement, and a record breaking sponsorship deal.

Share the news time.

If Klopp becomes our manager, whenever a Liverpool fan brings up the title I will bring up Dortmund. Share the conversation time.

I would also tell them, I'd sooner Liverpool win the title and get Klopp than they not win the title and not get Klopp. Getting Jurgen Klopp is better than winning the title this season because now we'll just win it next season, and the season after that. (We probably won't, but by that point I'll think of something else to say).

Yea ok thx for pointing that one out me, fairly obvious he wouldn't so that isn't Moyes.

Still no idea why somebody posted that on here then, ah well never mind.

The length of his contract shouldn't be used to dictate his sacking. What if he'd had a 3-year contract, for example? Part of what made his appointment such a poor one is retrospect was the length of the contract we gave him. We placed way too much faith in someone who wasn't good enough for the role.
I disagree as I feel he was going to get at least a season (or thereabouts) regardless of the contract length. And as was expected, the long contract had riders for dismissal for poor performance, which ultimately rendered the length of contract to just a number and/or a PR exercise.

Read his twitter username

Was thinking the same myself. Any one with more media knowledge than myself know why the club would brief the press about his impending exit? Is it to gauge opinion or what?
A "senior official" at the club briefing the press is different than an official brief. He may have been acting on his own, or at least without the full consent of the board. Perhaps even in an attempt to accelerate the discussion/decision if there were a couple of hold outs on the board wanting to hold on to him. I would think the board would have to be steadfastly firm behind Moyes to keep him after today, because that would mean pissing off the media (for giving them a fake story), enduring the embarrassment of the circus that this would create, and having more irate fans than usual.

Also, United just don't keep secrets like they used to. Look at Fergie's retirement announcement being leaked before he was ready, or the word of Moyes being hired, or the transfer circus last year. I guess that's not really a reason, more just an example that this is the way of things.

 at noarrojusbeta. sorry mate.

I think Utd would be feckin nuts to give Moyes 100M or 150M BSP to spend this summer. He's already proven he can't be trusted with other peoples money in the two big transfers he did make.

It's a bit like that quote from 300 - MrUnsackable?

We'll put that name to the test.

"Moyes is understood to have known after the desperate 3-0 home defeat to Liverpool on 16 March that he was skating on extremely thin ice and several sources suggest he might have made a half-hearted offer to quit at that stage. But the board told him that they were willing to let him tough things out."
I wonder how much of this was true, if he had known he would be shown the door (might explain some of his press conferences since) and whether he made a offer to resign - if he did the latter i have to say i have a bit more respect for him as he probably realised the job was too great for him

 wish I could favorite this post

I'm from Chatham, and thus a Man of Kent. The Medway runs through Maidstone though, so @Garethw could be either.

I used to work with a bloke from down that way years ago and he always described himself as a "Man of Kent" and looked askance at me when I called him "Kentish". Well, maybe it was the way I pronounced it.

Well, he did get a season in the end.

It wasn't a PR exercise, it was common sense. They wanted to ensure that he was on a long-term contract because they felt it was important to try and show that they placed long-term trust and faith in him, but you don't do that without making sure you put a clause in place in case things go wrong. If they hadn't put any clauses in then Moyes could've done appallingly, while leaking inside info on the club to all our rivals, while coming out and insulting the owners and Fergie, and expected full compensation. Of course he wasn't going to do that, but the point is that it'd be daft for the club not to put clauses in place in case things went wrong.

What have you done with the real Empire with his long Moyes defensive posts? Or you some other guy?

Without stating the obvious, something is finally balanced. It reminds me of one of those transfers that's reliant on the selling club buying the replacement player before they commit. I think the problem may well be around who takes over the role. Really no point sacking the man without a replacement. Klopp isn't going anywhere and has one eye on the Germany job anyway. LVG, I'm not sure he could commit to Utd and manage the dutch through the WC. That would make his summer here redundant. Might be others in the frame but cant see it....

I get the feeling that they are gonna want reassurances from DM, and depending on who backs him within the club, will depend on whether he stays or goes.

What an excellent brain fart

The unsackable one ffs.

They can still take Moyes, in fact I think they will and I think he wouldn't even be half bad for them.

They are not going to hire him. They didn't want him back when he was reasonably successful with Everton, no reason why they would change their minds after he failed at United.
