Confirmed: Moyes sacked.

If Van Gaal's appointed as is probably likeliest at this juncture, we can at the very least expect exciting football again next season.

I'll be doning my Kloop geek sheek specs at OT this Saturday!

Quieroz? Big fan of his work here but god no, please.

Why would we hire the current manager of the Iranian national team? :wenger:

They are all DM's team, you can't pick and choose!

Just because they came with him doesn't mean they'll leave with him. Man United was a step up from Everton for all of them - some of them might not want to step down again, especially if we want to keep them.

It's obvious this decision was made a while back. The fact that Van Gaal had not accepted the Tottenham job was the biggest sign.

He will be our newest manager.

WELCOME TO MAN UNITED MR. VAN GAAL.

Moyes can't complain if he goes. Personally with the managers that are available I don't think this is the right thing for the club. We're going to get with Van Gaal, and as I've argued in countless threads and am not willing to get into now, I don't think he's a good enough manager. That means to me we'll have to change manager again in a few years which is a disaster. Any money we do have must be spent year on year with the same vision in mind if we are to compete with billionaire clubs. It's the only way we will compete consistently in my eyes. I really hope the new manager is here for the long run and not a stop gap who will waste more money

Aloysius Paulus Maria van Gaal has won the league with all four clubs that he has managed. He has won the Champions League and the UEFA Cup. He has also won domestic cups in three different countries. He is incredibly qualified!

Don't like to say I told you so but I posted this in 1996:

Me said:
He'll take us out of Europe and we'll be 7th in the League. RVP will be perma-knacked and Moyes will have the players running up Ben Nevis while carrying haggis. He'll be sacked tomorrow. Also, Brophs will win Best Poster.

It wouldn't take 5 minutes for the club to knock up a statement saying that DM isn't being dismissed.

:nervous: I still remember when he was appointed it took ages for us to announce it and our Facebook page welcomed him three times and then deleted the message three times.

He has pretty much failed as a number one on numerous occasions, though, right?

I'd gladly have him back as a coach but I'd be very wary of having him as manager.

Yeah, but I don't think too much can be read into his stint at Real though. His Portugal spell I don't know too much about but being knocked out 1-0 by Spain in the first knock out round at the 2010 World Cup does not sound too shabby.

I agree, though, that I would prefer him as a coach.

Question for anyone who can access the Newbies forums, there's a user in there called "Sir David Moyes", I'm imagining he's not taking this well?

There's no guarantees.

Nothing is guaranteed, but like I said last summer, some things make a lot more sense than others. Hiring Mourinho would have made perfect sense last summer, as is sacking Moyes as soon as possible.

I wanted Klopp to succeed Sir Alex. Nothing has changed.
For long term he was the obvious choice. It would be hard to get him, but I hope we at-least try hard (on Davey's own words) to get Klopp as our new manager.

HAHAHHA I remember that guy. That person was either a wum or a Moyes family member.

Will be interesting to hear Gary Neville's take on these rumours on Monday night football. He's sure to know what's going on with Phil involved.

Signed it last October until 2018.
He's on relatively low wages though (1.8m per year) so I don't think that the compensation will be that big if he accepts our offer (which IMO has only slim chances to happen). The funny thing is that we can triple Klopp's wages and he will still be on lower wage than Moyes.
