College Football & NFL thread 2007/8

Lucky win for my Boys. That Lions player should have fallen on Romo's fumble towards the end instead of trying to pick up and run with it. Shocking finale. I'll take the win though. Romo is like a combination of Aikman & Staubach. He has the accuracy and touch of Aikman, and the agility and leadership of Staubach.

For me, he is one of the best 2 minute drill qbs out there.

That FleaFlicker in the Patriots game was fecking mint, I hate the Patriots but that was a great play by Moss to get it back to Brady and Brady just gonna 65 yards downfield with pinpoint accuracy.

The NY Jets and Patriots game is supposed to have 2-3 feet of snow, mmmmmm, interesting..............

Can't believe the Niners beat the Bengals. This season has been really disappointing.

Romo is struggling today. Philly's secondary is playing the receivers tight leaving Romo with dump offs to his RBs and TEs. TO finally caught a pass in the 4th quarter. Dallas has the ball in Philly territory with just over 10 minutes to play and trailing 10-6. Haven't seen this offense controlled yet this year... until today. No running game at all. Defense is having one of it's best performances this season. Ware is all over the place. feck Merriman - Ware is a more complete player and doesn't juice.

It's like watching a completely different Dallas to what I have got used to this year.

And now he fumbles.

I think that finger injury he picked up early is affecting his grip and/or throw. He's air balling receivers. He should have completed both those passes to TO on that series. He's missed 3 connections to TO that probably result in touchdowns if on target.

Jim Johnson can scheme for any team. He is the best Defensive Coordinator in football, hands down...

Why he hasn't got an HC gig yet is beyond me, especially over all these retreads and college guys that jump ship instantly when things go bad. Maybe he'll get his shot next season. I also think Jason Garrett will get a few offers but I'm hoping he sticks around another season... or maybe through Phillips 4 years then takes over.

BTW, the Ravens are horribly wrong if they plan on retaining Billick. He was a great OC for one season - thanks to Randy Moss. Had Jerry drafted him people would think Chan Gailey was a genius too!

As much as I hate the guy Bill Belichick is the best defensive coordinator in the league, he has always been the de facto defensive coordinator of Patriots as that was where he was promoted from he learned from a master as well.

I can't beleive nobody from the Bucs or the Jags made it to the Pro-bowl.
Fred Taylor would have gotten my vote.

I have to laugh at people who get upset over Pro Bowl voting, why because the game is a joke! No one who is anybody in the NFL wants to be playing in it, they are down with the vacation, but in actuality they could care less about the game. Also, with the playoffs, injuries, and players making excuses not to go, most of the people who were originally slighted get the opportunity to go

Parcells does a U-turn on the Atlanta Falcons, after he got an upgraded offer from Miami Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga to become Director of Football Operations; The Tuna hath returned

It's a much better situation for him. If they win 5 games next year, he'll look like a genius.

In all seriousness it was all about the fact that:

Miami >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Atlanta

Hanging out on South Beach is much better than downtown Atlanta....

Atlanta is miserable 90-100 degrees in the summer everyday with humidity that high as well, it gave new meaning to the word muggy

No state income tax in Florida either. More retirees in South Florida so Parcells will fit right in.

He'll have them turned around by 2009 you watch. He's great at finding talent. I really had hoped he'd stick around in Dallas this season as a front office guy. At this point in his career he's better off in the office not the sidelines. Guys like Parcells refuse to change their style that was successful in a different era. He's also too overriding as the HC, often resorting to calling his own offensive plays when he's not exactly an OC guru, thus undermining the guy paid to do that (the OC). I just hope they don't steal Jeff Ireland from Dallas (another rumor is Atlanta might hire Ireland as GM and go for Garrett as HC).

Don't know about their roster is loaded with crap, they need help at basically every position, it doesn't help that all their decent defensive players are in their 30s

Dude, go look at the 2000-2002 Dallas Cowboys to find a roster of crap, shit, and turds. Then see the 2003 Cowboys miraculously won 10 games. With Quincy Carter as the starting QB.

That said it took the Cowboys this year to become contenders with the team Parcells built. The NFC is a joke conference so it's not surprising than won 10 with Quincy Carter, the Dolphins have been crap since Marino left so they really need to make some shake ups down there, no doubt Parcells was a great signing though

Crapconference or not, to go from 3 consecutive shit seasons without an inkling of a revival to a playoff spot in the matter of 12 months is amazing. Doubt he'll turn Miami around that fast, but they'll be better off in 2 years than they are today. He's proven himself at every stop.

Agreed although each of his stops have been less successful than the previous one:

New York Giants - 2 Super Bowl wins, beat Denver and Buffalo
New England Patriots - 1 Superbowl appearance, lost to Green Bay
New York Jets - One AFC Championship game, lost to Denver
Dallas - the playoffs

T.O. injured very similar play to when Roy Williams hurt him when he was at Philly in 2004-5, just a high ankle sprain though, and regardless he was the only player who showed up for Philly in the SuperBowl after it happened

Out til the Divisional game (2nd week of playoffs) though

They should be able to beat Washington without him but you never know. The Skins could be playing for a playoff spot and if not that they'll definitely play to stop to Dallas from getting homefield. Thing is the Boys haven't lost a road game in the regular season in over a year (like 10 straight). In fact their last 5 regular season losses have come at home. Perhaps going to Green Bay might not be the worst thing possible. ;o)

Pats now 15-0...

Will be playing against a Giants team with no reason to even show up now that they've clinched a playoff spot.

Seems like 16-0 is an inevitability now...

As long as they lose in the playoffs:devil:
