College Football & NFL thread 2007/8

Hey guys, who are the only two players in NFL history to score touchdowns in 4 SuperBowls? (I know the answer, one is quite surprising, but not really I guess)

Off the top of my head I would guess Franco Harris and Thurman Thomas.

1/2 of two, yeah it's tough few players have even played in 4 Super Bowls, but John Elway played in 5 and actually rushed for touchdowns in 4 of their Super Bowls games, in two wins and in two losses(one of which is against SF which they make a barb against in the Simpsons)

Horrible game. More NY vs Boston shit. Great.

Let's wait and see, it will get massive ratings just because the Patriots are going for a perfect season, and well the Giants are from NYC. Hopefully the Pats choke and I get to see Tom Brady and Belicunt crying on the each other shoulders after the game

Pats are 12 point favorites. Started out at 13.5 but reduced due to the large number of bets on the Giants.

Suckers. NE will win this 38-17.

Everyone talks about NYG almost beating NE in game 16. Look closer at the real stats.

Total yards: NE, 390-316
Passing yards: NE, 346-237
Rushing yards: NYG, 79-44
Time of possession: NE, 36:18 - 23:42
First downs: NE, 27-19
Turnovers: NE 0 - 1 NYG

NYG scored once from a kickoff return and NE failed to score TDs on 2 drives inside the 20 (both ended as field goals). NYG punted four times to NE's two. It was a statistical domination by NE and in the end the better team won. NYG capitalized on their possessions in NE's half by scoring 4 tds. If NE does that, that's an additional 11 points (subtracting 1 point as NE don't go for 2). Blow out. I expect the same in the SB and give Belicunt two weeks to prepare he'll outclass any coach. Strahan needs to injure Brady for NYG to have a chance in hell. This game has rout written all over it.

But, if NYG can pressure Brady, force a turnover or two, and establish the run, they could sneak an upset. Highly doubtful. Then again, no one thought NE was going to beat St Louis, although this NE team has 1) a better coach, 2) a better gameplan, and 3) a better defense than that Rams team possessed.

I would tend to agree but I've said that about all their playoff games. As long as the game is interesting I'll be happy.

Giants will keep it close mark my words. That front 7 will stop maroney and make NE's attack one dimensional. NE to win by 6.

NE's attack has been one-dimensional in most games and they still won all 18. NYG's secondary is atrocious and banged up... don't see how they'll be able to contain NE's spread offense. It's not about stopping NE's run game which isn't great by any means. It's about pressuring Brady. FFS, NE had 44 yards rushing in week 17 against NYG and still won.

It could be interesting hell the Giants could win, but my money is on the Patriots to beat the spread

Haha I never knew Lawrence Tynes was Scottish, Coughlin would have killed him without a doubt in my mind had he missed the FG in overtime

His brother is serving 20+ years for involvement in a drug smuggling ring. Tynes was quoted saying something about child molesters get 1/3 the time a drug dealer gets. How fecked up is that?

His dad was a detective for many years and the stress from his brother's court case forced his parent's divorce. He mentioned making a pressure kick was nothing compared to what he faces in real life.

Okay--the weekend is coming, the game draws near. As a lifelong Giants fan I have little confidence in a victory on Sunday, but still harbor some faint hope that NY can destroy the forces of evil. Death to Bellicheat, Brady, and the collected filth of Foxboro.

I think anyone not from Boston is cheering for the Giants....

Gary Zimmerann elected to the Hall of Fame, a beast of a LT if I ever saw one

feck, this is when I regret leaving America. Superbowl has so many good memories for me. The parties, the bets, the friends, the food and the drinks. The history of the superbowl, the legends, Tom Landry in particular. Enjoy it over there and have a drink for me. Oh, and I have had a massive bet on the Patriots.

Not going to have a bet on this game - Hope the Patriots win, but always fancied the Giants.

Looking forward to seeing Wacko Jacko in the commercials.

That play by Manning to escape the rush and then throw it 20 yards to Tyree who made a great catch is one of the best players all time in NFL history

the jints have the only thing that can stop the pats. a pass rush. they played them pretty well at the end of the season when the giants had nothing to play for (a trip to TB was in the cards already) and the pats were shooting for perfection. that being said , i don't think any team will beat the pats. brady needs to be on his back , that doesn't happen very often.
the farve v brady story would really be best for neutrals.
