College Football & NFL thread 2007/8

Looking forward to the Cowboys/Packers game next week. Green Bay is playing much better than I credited them for. I think this is setting up as the game of the year in the NFL. A month ago I felt Dallas would win this game in a rout but definitely thinking this will be a close contest. I favor Dallas due to it being in Texas (would favor Green Bay in Wisconsin). I'd be much more optimistic of a Dallas home win in January than a victory in Green Bay. So this game is for home field advantage (and probably for the rights to play New England in the Super Bowl).

Dallas are just that touch above GB, despite the stats, I feel GB have hit their peak and are playing their consistently, while Phillips has the best of Dallas in reserve. That being said, I won't be enough to stop the Tom Brady Patriots winning the Super Bowl.

That was the same thing being said about the 2001 St Louis Rams, then the "greatest offensive team ever assembled."

Good to see my packs thumping the lions. Now if we can beat Dallas on thursday then the road to the super bowl will have to go through the lambeau field. The Dallas game will be really close but if KGB is hurt and can't go then I don't see the pack winning.

Dallas is gonna slaughter Green Bay, hell the Broncos almost beat the Packers this year

If you're going to go by that basis then the bills almost beat the cowboys this year. Other than the patriots, the packers are the toughest opponenets the cowboys have faced this year. This is the second time in the history of the nfl that two 10-1 teams are facing each other.

NYG are the toughest behind NE so far... they'd be 9-1 had they beat Dallas both times.

The Giants are vastly over rated, and over perform a lot of the time, which is all down to how well the coach has done. It is quite clear Peyton got all the talent in that family.

What are you talking about, the NYG consistently Under-acheive

The QB is average but the OL and LBs are good, while the DLs is the best in the NFL. The WR corps is very good. The secondary is their Achilles heel. They are a very good team but not in the elite category.

I don't think they are. While the giants are a strong team and imo they will reach the playoffs. The packers defeated the giants and while a game doesn't have a really big impact on whether a team is better than another team during the WHOLE season, the packers have looked awesome all season long and their wins have looked better as compared to the giants wins.

I'm talking about toughest opponent Dallas has played TO THIS POINT. Who started comparing GB to NYG?

Update: Eli Manning has gone from average to shit in the matter of days. NYG need to start looking at an alternative at the QB position. Bet hindsight on that trade for Eli is looking really good now.

BTW, NE got very lucky last night. Feely should never have thrown that pass towards the end zone. A top QB would have airmailed that one out of bounds or had seen the WR not making his burst upfield and instead left the pass short.

The Pats got lucky. The Eagles just gave a glimpse of how to beat the Pats, multiple blitz packages and crowd the receivers off the line on D and throw inside slants to the receivers on O.

Blitzes with bump and run coverage, and a double on a randy moss is the only hope to beat them. That said if a team can run of New England during the game they could definently get them. I could see Pittsburgh beating them, that said the Broncos beat the Steelers, it's just that the Steelers have a great defensive coordinator and they run alot of fairly unique 3-4 sets

Sean Taylor of the Washington Redskins is a critical condition, near death, after being shot when his Miami-suburd home was burglarized at 2 am EST this morning

YOU brought up the giants in regards to my quote that the packers are gonna be the toughest team the cowboys faced after the patriots. Based on what you said, I assumed that you meant the giants are better than packers. guess my assumption was wrong or you mis-worded it. no worries.

34-27 Big D with 5 minutes left

Favre was injured in teh 2nd

rodgers did well when he came in for favre but dallas was too much. favre struggled before his injury and having woodson out didn't help either but dallas showed that they are a level above GB and the road to the super bowl has to go through texas stadium now.

Dallas are better than Green Bay, and far more talented, however this was an important game for home field advantage because everyone loses at Green Bay in the playoffs, unless you raise, fight, and kill pitbulls for shits and giggles

Dallas did almost anything it could to lose that game. They should have won by 20. I'm still baffled how TO managed to lateral that TD reception to Harris.

Some good games this weekend. Good performance by the Colts. Pittsburgh were incredibly lucky to win at home to Cinci. Willie parker fumbled twice, and cinci had a fumble return for TD and a safety overturned on video replay.

the niners got raped again in Carolina, Washington lost a close game and LT burned KC to win in Arrowhead( only the 2nd time in 7 seasons KC have lost a game at home in Dec)
