City and Financial Doping | Charged by PL with 130 FFP breaches | Hearing begins 16th Sep 2024 | Concluded 9th Dec 2024 - Awaiting outcome

If City aren’t properly punished I do wonder what it will do to my interest in football, a lot is relying on this for me.

it's close to make or break for me. Big chance to hit a sort of reset on many of the ways the game has failed in the last decade.

I am here for my club suing the living shit out of an oil state.
Me too. They deserve it.

They could be forced to pay up a lot of money because of all this. Not that they can't afford it, but it'd still be nice to see Abu Dhabi fund our transfers for a couple of windows.

What is the eta for a decision on whether they're "proven" guilty? I fully expect this to be swept under a rug but one can dream.

The state of the replies in that thread.
Barcodes siding with their Plastic club brethren.
Cries of 'Red cartel' because it's United, Liverpool and Arsenal's fault that they cheated their way to the top.
They are pathetic, willing to defend literal despots so they can win a metal cup vicariously.

The "Red Cartel" cries are the ones I find baffling.

Do they really expect historically big clubs such as ourselves, Arsenal and Liverpool to just be ok with their relentless rule breaking?

Big deal for EPL. Lots of fans around the world will lose faith in the league if justice doesn't prevail here. Potentially a "downfall of the league" level decision here.

Doing the right thing is hard but experts show that in every crisis. Doing the right thing with transparency is usually the best thing for the organization.

Oh they will sue as well. Everyone will sue - and they all bloody well should. Don't care if it's frivolous - everyone should sue.
But I thought the whole point is that there was a deadline by which all parties need to state their intentions to sue. Perhaps they make a different suit at a later stage for different criteria but fact Chelsea haven’t jumped in this one suggests they are protecting their own interests by not doing so. People in glass houses… Make of that what you will.

Quoting from the article:
"If the charges against City are proven, clubs could claim for loss of income for missing out on the league title, qualification for the Champions League or other European competitions over the course of several seasons, which could total hundreds of millions of pounds."

I'd find it extremely befitting if the clubs added City's—not at all inflated—sponsorship deals to the estimated loss of income.

Hardly surprising, I think they might be the first fanbase that indoctrinateded themselves into sportswashing and religiously defend not only their own middle eastern owners but also the ones at other clubs. There wasn't even a slow build up after a few years of success the majority of them were fully onboard from day one with it.

There was more reason to be skeptical about it in the earlier days, given what had happened at other clubs with smaller investors wanting to buy trophies. Newcastle fans just looked at what was going on at Manchester City

Oh definitely they accepted it with open arms.

Every club that has played in the PL since this started happening should and will have the right to sue them.

I hope we all do. Feck them.

If they aren't done, it will probably kill most enthusiasm I have left for football. Otherwise what is the point, everyone may as well just cheat cause what is anyone going to do about it.

Chelsea don’t want to sue? Worried about their own skeletons?

Chelsea are one of the clubs giving evidence in favour of Man City... there are a few PL clubs who are siding by City.

Ones I have seen reported are Chelsea, Villa, Newcastle.

Be happy to take Haaland off their hands. Imagine a Haaland-Højlund front two
Would prefer Rodri but beggars can’t be choosers.

Gvardiol is the one player I'd take if I had the choice.

It might seem crazy but their squad isn't all that anymore IMO. I do think they're still the best team in the world, but most of their key players are getting old. Haaland is Haaland, I'll give you that, but it's him, Gvardiol, and Lewis really that are their most valuable assets IMO if it came to a "fire sale" because they got expelled from the Prem for multiple years or something. The rest are system players / late 20s / early 30s / or you can simply just find better / similar players on the market.

Chelsea sent a letter to the PL specifically around multi-club ownership, which the PL had asked for (so, not siding with City or giving evidence in favour of City). Chelsea owners own other clubs, so the letter they sent advocated for it. That's the only involvement from Chelsea, as far as I know, plus I'm pretty sure it was previous court case that has already been adjudicated, and not the 115 case.

Its not crazy.. I was speaking to a mate and I was telling him its a rebuild if Pep stays. The squad individually doesn't have anyone I would say, we desperately need, its more how they play as a team.

I can see the players struggling if Pep left.

Fair enough, I must admit I dont know too much about what is happening in the case.. just what I read from different articles, but its not with any evidence or the like.

Clubs who want to support City can do so if they like, the only thing I care about is City getting punished.

Yeah I'd take him. Rodri too, I think he just works in nearly every side.

Fingers crossed.

No doubt Rodri improves any squad in the world, but he will be 29 or close to it, returning from a nasty ACL tear + meniscus damage. Not sure how many teams would be willing to offer him even a 3 year long contract on obscene wages.

The thing which slightly ruins my mood over this; City getting any point deduction will mean that Liverpool is winning PL this year.
