Clyne, Ings and now Benteke

Liverpool sign all the players we are linked with that I would hate for us to buy.

They might be able to finish ahead of Spurs this season now

They probably think they're getting one over on us. Anyone remember Harry Kewell?

BENTEKE TO LIVERPOOL, OH MY. NOT SURE HOW TO FEEL ABOUT IT. BUT I'M EXCITED.

STURRIDGE/BENTEKE/FERMINO/COUTINHO/IBE/LALLANA/MILNER.

I am sure those players have it in them to do the business. Not quite a PL winning attacking line up, but that is starting to excite me.

Add 1 more though

Sounds like they will sign Gaitan next.

Think that's another good buy, I kind of would have liked to see him at United but I think you can get more for £32 Million. That said I wouldn't be at al surprised if he did make another step up and delivered consistently the form he's shown in patches, far from a certainty for 32 million though.

He's decent but overpriced.

I doubt we were ever in for him. As others mentioned, our name was probably used to force Liverpool to pay up.

I am sure several journos will be gleefully typing up their "Snubbed" articles ready for tomorrows papers.

He is a decent striker but that is a lot of money for him. Probably 20M type player.

Wouldn't mind him here. I think he'd be quite good for us; especially, considering there aren't many options.

He'd do fairly well i'm sure, the problem as i see it is we either need a younger player or a world beater. Benteke is too good/expensive to be on the bench, but not good enough to oust Rooney/be the main man.

That's a fine record, especially given his injury problems.

He's done exceptionally well playing for a relegation threatened side for almost three seasons. I think he could quite easily oust Rooney. He's scored more than Rooney since he signed for Villa, in the league.

With regards to the potential forwards, it doesn't seem like we're interested in a young forward since we've watched the most talented move from club to club (Plus, we have Wilson). World beater wise, there aren't many, or any available.

He's the best available, and it'd be a shame to see him go to Liverpool. Would actually be their best signing.

His build up play isn't what you expect from a £32.5m striker. He's above average and people are overrating him

Think this is going to be a good transfer for liverpool. Sturridge and Benteke is a good partnership if they revert back to a diamond.

Sturridge--Benteke
Firminho
Coutinho--------Milner
Henderson
Shit liverpool back 4
Shit goalkeeper

Would be a decent premier league attack tbh.

Villa using United to push up the price for Benteke, like Hoffenheim did with Firmino. Really won't mind him at United, even with the price of his release clause, it will be better than paying 50 - 60 million for Cavani.

They're attack is starting to look very good. The rest of their team is shite, mind.

How's that when the £32.5m is the release clause?

Coutinho-Milner-Henderson is very good midfield too.

Their 'only' problem will be their quite bad defense and their awful goalkeeper.

Milner-Henderson is the definition of average. Lots of huff and puff, very little quality.

I was considering Coutinho as part of the attack, rather then midfield.

That's a fine record, especially given his injury problems.

Last season he scored a goal every 183 minutes, the season before it was every 213 minutes and in his first season it was every 148 minutes. Not bad but not great. Closer to Lukaku than anyone else.

Giroud's record last season was a goal every 133 minutes. Even van Persie under Moyes scored more often with a goal every 132 minutes. Aguero last season scored a goal every 98 minutes.

I'm not convinced he can even reach Giroud's level, and given many Arsenal fans think Giroud needs to be improved upon to challenge for the title, it would say a lot about Liverpool's aspirations. Signing Lacazette would make a much better statement.

I cant see them ever lining up with Henderson as a DM.

Clyne will improve that, Moreno should be better you would hope, Flanagan might be back at some point and if Sakho can stay fit he and Skrtel aren't that bad as a pairing.
Lovren (in his words), reckons with a good pre-season behind him will be better too, Ilori is a real talent now he is back from loan and that young kid Gomez looks a good one possibly for the future.

I can dream....

He'll probably be decent for them, but I'm relieved we're not getting him. Overpriced to sit on the bench while Rooney plays, and yet to prove himself a reliable performer. He's had some horrible droughts for Villa, and that's at a club where he had the luxury of playing lots of games even when he couldn't score.

That said, if we end up getting fecking Cavani I'll wish this had happened instead.

How's that when the £32.5m is the release clause?
Liverpool didn't want to pay the release clause, they were trying to lower the price. With the rumors linking United to Benteke, it pushes Liverpool into paying the release clause amount.

--------Benteke---Firminio-----------
---------------Coutinho--------------
--------Hendo----------Milner-------
------------------Can-----------------
Moreno---Sakho----Skrtl--------Clyne
---------------Mignolet----------------

Considering Sturridge is always injured I see the team being like that.
GK = Bad
Defence = Bad
Midfield 3 = Average
Attack = Good but unproven as Coutinho is still very inconsistent and not sure how Firminio/Benteke will do at Liverpool

Happy Liverpool have got him. Pretty sure he'll be decent for them, but I think he can be a little inconsistent and I can't deal with anymore 'inconsistent' players at United. Plus, the fee for him is crazy - certainly not worth all that.

A lot of money for him. He'll probably do well for them though. Really glad the rumours of us being after him appear to be nonsense.

Can see Benteke getting 15-20 goals for Pool and their attack does have some potential, but their midfield and defense simply aren't up to scratch imo.

I don't care what anyone says, if Benteke stays fit, he scores 20 goals for us next season :) No, he's not Lacazette, but he's still a very good player who will improve our attacking options. Just need to ship out the deadwood now.

Still not enough for top four as-is, but hey, it's an improvement.

Hes brilliant when on form, Anybody would have struggled to find the net in Lamberts Villa until Sherwood put a bit of life back into them

He's def an improvement for you yes but I do wonder how he will fit in, was his turnaround in form last season not all about Sherwood getting Villa playing early crosses into him? He is a beast in the air, not sure that is what Rodgers will do with style of play he seems to believe in...

Milner and Henderson? Very good midfield?

On what planet?

Compared to Rooney, Benteke cannot even trap a bag of cement.

There's alot of strikers from shearer to Van N for us who you could say were not involving themselves in the intricate build up play as well tho. I mean they are all v competent at doing so but often they just scored shed loads of goals instead
