I don't know whether it's all one massive game, but it seems we've said no.
Oh i don't know, does sound a bit like the United way of saving face don't you think? Maybe he didn't want to come back? ;)

Traditionally van Gaal has utilised a three man midfield: A holding player, a box-to-box player, and a playmaker. I'm assuming one of Mata, Kagawa, or Rooney is to be deployed as the playmaker, much like van der Vaart or Sneijder for the Netherlands. This leaves two remaining places, the holding player and the box-to-box player, neither of which Fabregas has been deployed as the past three or four seasons.

In theory, this makes sense. What will be will be.

As far as I am concerned we already made the best move we could have made: We sacked moyes and signed van gaal. I am viewing any additions this summer as icing on the cake.

Cheer up you guys.
You have stupendously low standards if that's the case. I sincerely hope the club don't share those sentiments.

We don't need another no.10. We have Mata, Kagawa and Rooney there. We need a box to box midfield enforcer with an eye for a pass. Carvalho would be perfect, Strootman too. Fabregas isn't a deeplying midfielder anymore. Defensively he's a liability and from a tactical standpoint he prefers to have the freedom to move anywhere on the pitch, freedom you can only afford in the no.10 position.

Somehow it's not only Chelsea, but City too I'm afraid he might be going. If what Pique said to Del Bosque is true, that is. What a great player Fabregas is. We better have a plan if he signs for one of those clubs.

I can see exactly why Van Gaal isn't prioritising a player like Fabregas. If he's to be played further forwards we already have arguably better options in Mata and Kagawa. And he's not got the work rate off the ball to play in a holding role.

Same goes for Mourinho's Chelsea. tbh the best place for him from a football perspective would actually be Liverpool or Spurs.

They do. They're proving it as we speak.

Is there any credible sources stating that Cesc is joing Chelsea or just some job worth twatter rumour?

Entrenched in this whole debate is this issue of 'we really need to sign top players but this isn't the one we need to sign.'

That applies for us both.

Am I old or have most of these new members never seen Fabregas play in the premier league??? Wtf are you talking about when you are saying that we do not need another no. 10 in a Fabregas thread?

For the 95865848340230948th time Cesc is not a #10 !

World class defenders and strikers have mostly dissapeared though.

There seems to be a billion behind-the-striker players though

Yeah, I don't think he has forgotten how to play that CM role somehow.

Exactly, so many options with Fabregas for Chelsea. Didn't Jose have an obsession with the 442 diamond in his first time at Chelsea? Matic, Willian, Fabregas and Oscar with Hazard + Diego Costa on top looks nice on paper.

We're an absolute joke
We might have gone in hard for him but let's be honest, the lack of CL thing is a handicap for Woodward to compete with negotiators of other big clubs.

He is working hard I am sure.

I suspect we're going to address this by signing a Remy type(probably not actually Remy) and going big on a wide player who can be converted because you're right - there are no top strikers out there really to sign.

I think people are suggesting that LVG has very specific roles for his CMs and Fabregas isn't needed because the role of the playmaker has already been filled by Mata/Kagawa, while he isn't suited to the other midfield roles.

LVG doesn't sign players because they are big names. He's very specific about the players that fit his system rather than individual quality.

Didn't see it coming, never thought he'd like playing for mourinho, pretty soon someone will shake his hand after the game and tell him "You used to play for barcelona? Well, that wasn't Barcelona football."

What can you say, money talks.

Unfortunately that appears to be the case, but it doesn't mean it's right. Significant investment was, and is needed. The quality of our incoming manager shouldn't be indicative of how we view our transfer business. Nothing changes.

Well that Barca based radio station is supposedly one of the most reputable sources for Barcelona related matters, so it definitely holds some credence.

That was Mark Hughes and Blackburn. Now that would be a turn up for the books if he rocks up to Ewood.

Yeah I get that, I was responding to people who were saying Fabregas couldn't do it at CM in the PL anymore.

4-2-3-1 with Kagawa, Mata, Fabregas and Rooney or RVP would be quality.

Probably wouldn't work, but feck it. Quality
