If he goes to Chelsea for 27 mil pound (33m euro), that would be really embarrassing given chasing him and offering around 35m pounds last summer.

Why would it be embarrassing? Barca didn't want to sell him then, and now they do but we don't want him.

Who is there left to sign even close to Fabregas' level though?

Can't think of anyone but that's not really how it works. We don't know what LVG's plans are or what he's going to do with our current players so we have no way of knowing which type of player he's after. It might be that he feels we need a defensive or box to box type player rather than a playmaker. It isn't as simple as "who's the best player we can buy", they need to fit in with whatever else we have planned.

As far as I am concerned we already made the best move we could have made: We sacked moyes and signed van gaal. I am viewing any additions this summer as icing on the cake.

Cheer up you guys.

I think that he's mistaken if that's the case, but I don't think it is. Every man and his dog can see that we've suffered since Scholes started to decline and eventually retired. Carrick isn't creative enough, Cleverly is a ghost, Fletcher was never creative and Fellaini is a walking mop. We badly lack creativity and Fabregas would have provided that.

Mata, Kagawa, and Rooney all disagree.

I know I'll get stick for ITKing here but this is what I know.

Tonight's meeting with Gazidis threw up some issues. A mate of mine went along (shareholder at the club) and he told me that there was a direct question about Cesc to Ivan which he batted away expertly with some comment about 'many players we're looking at, just a name bandied about in the media' etc.

After the event, during drinks, he was more open and said that Arsene didn't see him as a priority. When challenged on this, he apparently said that everyone at Arsenal would have preferred him just to stay at Barcelona and for this all not to happen. Another director is quoted as saying that Arsenal have 'other similarly large fish frying at the moment' so Cesc was out of the picture.

I don't know whether it's all one massive game, but it seems we've said no.

You've got Bebe coming back from loan.

If we signed no one where will we finish under LVG out of interest?

I genuinely believe that Fabregas blotted his copy book last year. More than meets the eye with that nonsense last year and no player is bigger than the club.

I don't think Mourinho wants him so this would be an ownership signing. Not worried. We've got a big signing coming ourselves.
We could do with the likes of Alastair if the Germans ever decided to invade again. Optimism at it's finest.

If that is the case then you may be looking to spend money elsewhere, perhaps on a striker, since a CM wouldn't need to be your priority at the moment with the other players you have there.

Will be very interesting to see the reaction from Arsenal fans if he did sign for Chelsea or United. If you didn't want him and Barca don't se him as a part of their plans, would you hold a grudge against him for signing for us or United

In CM I obviously meant. None of them are central midfielders.
One of the three will more than likely become deployed as van Gaal's playmaker, leaving room for a holding player and a box-to-box player, Fabregas is neither.

If there's one good thing to come out of missing out on Fabregas it's the hilarious banners that'll be flown over OT.

I tend to agree actually, but...

If we're really moving away from a two man midfield then things change a bit. LVG (apparently) likes his three man midfield to consist of a defensive CM, a box to box CM and a creative CM. For all we know he may be planning to use Rooney or (more likely) Mata in that creative role.

Our lack of creativity from deep would be more of a problem with a two man midfield than a three man one, I think.

Arsenal fans will definitely hold a grudge I think. He said he went to Barca because they were his home club which was fair enough to Arsenal, but him going to Chelsea will no doubt piss them off since they'd thought of him as a fairly loyal player who wouldn't go to a rival.

Ah well, looks like Vidal will have to do then.

If we pass up on him, you can't hold a grudge. What's he expected to do? He's persona non grata at Barcelona, and the guy's got to play top level football somewhere. The choice these days is really Spain or England.

The reaction from Arsenal fans alone would be worth seeing.

But it'll mean Wenger will be caned left, right and centre by the media.

So Mourinho poked another manager in the guy. Ridiculous thing to do. Giggsy, a club legend, intermin manager last season and our assistant manager this season on, fecked his brother's wife for months. We have Rooney who shagged other chicks when his wife was pregnant with his child. What's your point?

Shagging =/= physical violence

Exactly. If you wanted him, then we all know where he'd be going. Fact is you lot have moved on.
