Chelsea reach agreement to sign Cesc Fábregas

Why wouldn't Mourinho want him? He's class.

Why wouldn't Fab want Chelski?
Trophies, money, London?

Someone get Mata on the phone to him.

I can't believe he's joining Mou. The Spanish Madrid hate him, Barca hate him.

I don't think Mourinho wants him so this would be an ownership signing. Not worried. We've got a big signing coming ourselves.
I am sure many people would have said that sneijder, ozil, di maria and modric are not mourinho type players.

I don't think it is a feck up. Fabregas would play in the champions league and possibly earn astounding wages and he doesn't seem to like United.

I hate to break it to you guys but I suspect if he doesn't sign for you it's because of no CL.

It strikes me as if United have saved face by getting in there early to say they're not interested when actually the rejection is the other way round.
Nah. Cesc warmed to the idea of joining us last season, he also appeared to have not been fazed by our poor season. He was all to happy declaring we'd be back on top sooner rather than later.

Plus add ons apparently, you lot sure don't mess about with transfers these days! What brilliant business if that's true, I find it shocking that van Gaal would decline the chance to sign him for that price....unless we did want him and be would simply rather join Chelsea.

Said it before Fabregas seems to enjoy London life and only the pull of his home city took him away before. Not surprised if he wanted to go back there. That and the fact that we have no CL is a massive hindrance to someone who is 27 and hasn't won the competition before.

Kicking a man when he's down is just cruel.

Seriously does this pissin clause that Arsenal supposedly have even exist?

Don't think we wanted him, LVG will have his own plans for the team and he'll have his own targets, relax, by the end of Summer we'll have a few new signings. Will they be good? We'll have to wait until next season to find out.

Will they be good? they better, we're in a weakened position and already have lots of players with potential.. we need the finish product.

So the sale of Luiz will almost finance the purchase of Costa and Fabregas, that is some shrewd transfer business. Then you have to consider wages of course which will increase quite a bit but what a window so far for Chelsea.

Missing out on Fabregas just reinforces my belief that we will not sign any big names this summer, assuming that the rumour is true of course.

Seeing as we're not signing him, it's now safe to say that I can't stand the velcro-bearded gonk & I never fancied him anyway.

The press have been briefed as much. Woodward is clearly not at fault if Fabregas joins Chelsea. He's just become an easy target.

This I do agree with. I can't bring myself to criticise van Gaal just yet.

I don't really hate him though tbh. Anyone who can take a picture this awesome is alright by me

How many of you need to be told van Gaal didn't want Fabregas before realising Woodward is not at fault here?

I'd be questioning LvG if he doesn't believe Fabregas would be frankly an almost immeasurable but stratospheric improvement on our current "midfield". If he didn't want him, then sorry but he's certified bonkers. But I suspect he already has that certificate somewhere.

It's always going to be a struggle to sign any top player at the peak of their career when you have no Champions League football to offer them. You then have to rely on paying exorbitant wages and outbidding both City and Chelsea in this regard both in the player's salary and agent fees.

This proves what I had been saying all along, he never wanted to play for us.

We bid 40 million last summer and were rejected. United figured out he didn't want to play with us and immediately squashed any rumours early on this offseason.

If only they would have known this last summer, they would have saved themselves time and embarrassment.

We've no idea how van Gaal intends to utilise our player's yet. I'd imagine one of Mata, Kagawa, or Rooney will be deployed as the playmaker, leaving no room for Cesc. I'm perfectly calm right now, Louis has a plan.

I am not seeing it on bbc, ESPN, and chelsea have not announced it so I don't think he has signed with chelsea.

Woodrow and Van Gal are making a big mistake if they think that we do not need Cesc.

It's not he's job to "think" though, it's he's good to go and acquire the players Van Gaal wants and by the looks of it Cesc isn't one of those players.

Can't blame Woodward for not signing someone Van Gaal didn't ask for. He's not Abramovich.

LOL why is everyone just assuming it's Chelsea, that's utterly ridiculous I could easily say "nope it's man City" and have as much reliability and information as those saying it's Chelsea.

Nuts

No, you'd have absolutely no realiability because you embarrassed yourself several times before with your cringeworthy predictions, I rather trust @Eboue.

It's going to be a long ass summer.

This. If we fail to secure LVG's targets then by all means jump in on Woodward but until then we should really stop blaming him every time one of our rivals sign a player. LVG decides who we go after, not Woodward.

I'm sure he thinks Cesc would be an improvement on what we have but that doesn't mean he thinks Cesc is the best available fit for what he wants. We'll see I guess.

Mm probably

Pathetic.

Chelsea doing their business efficiently.

United doing nothing. Again.

Honestly not sure how much we can be blamed here. I don't think Fabregas even wanted to come to United as we don't currently have a lot to offer as opposed to Chelsea.

Fabregas is not needed to play van Gaal's system. We will be fine.

You guys get so caught up in big names.

Where is everyone getting this information? I'm not seeing it!

Nothing on Sky, BBC, Dave, QVC or even the Netflix loading bar yet.

33 million euros is less than £27 million right? does not seem legit that's he'd move for that.

€33m is £27m. That's the story that's been running all week in Spain. That they'd told Dein if he could get what they paid then they would let him go.

The last version of the story said that United and Chelsea had offered €9m/year after tax to Fabregas, with "others" (presumably Arsenal or City?) being invited to bid on wages again.

If RAC1 are right then the deal (to Chelsea) is now done.

The real error was our joke performance on transfers last summer.

We're going to be a long way behind after this summer.
