Doubt we will properly find out unfortunately. If it is van Gaal who doesn't want him then I really am curious as to why not. He's a top quality player proven in the prem, only 27 years old and is actually available for a reasonable amount in this messed up market. If someone has signed him for 33mil then that's damn fine business but I won't hold my breath it's us. It might not be Woodwards fault at all if it is simply the fact van Gaal wants other players but my god would it be frustrating to be linked again only for Chelsea to come in and tie the whole thing up very quickly. I have faith we will sign a top CM but can't think of many better we're going to get for that price if it's accurate.
 
Bear in mind, there remains a chance that Piqué was trolling the media although would be odd for Del Bosque to be a part of it too

That's fecking ridiculous. Plus they have Ivanovic, Zouma, And Kalas to fill in or rotate at the back, Ramires, Mikel, and Van Ginkel to rotate in CM, Schurrle and Salah to rotate in AM, and Lukaku as backup striker.
 
LOL why is everyone just assuming it's Chelsea, that's utterly ridiculous I could easily say "nope it's man City" and have as much reliability and information as those saying it's Chelsea.

It has got to be Chelsea. The stories throughout the press over the last few days, home and abroad, have all pointed to Chelsea, nobody else.

And they were both smirking, would be odd to be talking about it in the press room and with mics around as well. Just would be strange for Del Bosque to be a participant if it were a gag, especially considering how much media scrutiny that is sure to follow now

Someone recorded Pique talking to Del Bosque telling him that Cesc has been sold for 33 million. Apparently.

Caf assumes it's true and it's Chelsea and is on Muppet meltdown.
 
Arsenal fans on twitter seem to think he's heading back to them because 33m is the buy back clause they have on him apparently.
 
I wait the confirmation and more info, to go into total meltdown.

It is true. A journalist from Spain (followed by Ballbags for verification) tweeted it and the video is online.

They need to get there shits together, one day its a buy back clause, another day it's a percentage on the sell, another day it's a first refusal .....

Well if you believe what the journos are saying City, United, Arsenal and Liverpool aren't interested. That then leaves Chelsea who apparently are interested but Jose supposedly is not so keen. Chelsea looks like the most likely destination in all of this.
 
As far as we know, Pique is the one that knows. I'm sure he has links with a certain Lancashire club.
 
I dread refreshing this forum a few hours later and find the thread title changed to ''Fabregas sold to Chelsea/Arsenal/City for 33 million''
 
RAC1 are saying the deal is all but done to Chelsea but for more than 33M, along with variables. They say an announcement is likely next week.

At a time when most media outlets are fairly unreliable, RAC1 is near the top of the most credible ones - when it comes to Barcelona related items

Going by the recent reports it looks like it is most likely either Chelsea or arsenal.

If this were a case of Pique mischief-making and having a laugh - wouldn't it be pretty cnutish to joke about one of his team-mates (both at national and club level) whom it seems might be in the process of being forced-out of his club? Del Bosque surely wouldn't allow that sort of distraction this close to the World Cup?
 
I don't really understand the UK press on this.

Unless something really new has come out tonight the story in Spain has been pretty much the same all week. Barcelona have set a price, believed to be €33m, and left it to Fabregas to find a club. Pique didn't mention a club so I assume he just means that Fabregas has offers at that valuation.

Or have I missed something?
 
He'd be their highest paid player straight away if the 200k a week figures are true.

Guess that's one reason why he'd agree to play there.
