We have number 10s, Fabregas would therefore be signed to be a number 8 and that means supporting both defence and attack.
I'm not sure Fabregas has the work rate nor defensive qualities to do that to the level we would like. And I think Juan Mata is creative enough as the number 10.
We just need to sign a good number 8 who has the aggression, the work rate, that dynamic box to box player who can balance his defensive qualities with the ability to pass the ball, to create chances and to support the offensive players by joining in the attack and even score goals.
I would sooner target Vidal with a £50m bid although I doubt he would get him. A player like Strootman would be fine too, although of a lesser quality he can perform this function well however his injury problems are a worry. There must be others though!

I didn't want to start a moral debate but comparing sexual misdemeanours mainly promoted in red tops, to on field behaviour from the manager is completely different issue.

Classic Barca. They simply suck at selling players. Other than Yaya Toure and perhaps Ronaldinho, I can't recall the last time they received a decent fee for their players. Cesc is worth at least €50M in today's market and they are letting him go for €33M. Amazing.

If I was Woodward I'd be briefing people that we're not interested even if we were actually pursuing him as a target. After last year's attempt turned into a PR disaster I'd be very wary of being made to look like an idiot by this guy again, especially as there is likely to be quite a bit of competition for his signature.
I also don't buy this notion that none of the top English clubs are that bothered about signing him. Barca clearly want to sell so feigning a lack of interest may just be a way of keeping the price down.
