It does tickle me that Arsenal finished above us this season and are all of a sudden a much better team and prospect than we are.

Last season we won the league, the season before that, we finished with equal points. I am not saying we are the best team, because we do have gaps for sure, but we had a bad season, under a bad manager and all of a sudden we are a bad team that needs major reworkings.

Next season will be tough, we need to get some good players, and spend correctly, but I am confident that we will get back into the champions league positions. We haven't been at the top of this division for the last 20 or so years to just suddenly disappear.

That leaves one team to potentially drop out of the top 4. I know who my money would be on

You're ignoring the simple point that things can change.

You've lost the manager who did this. You're being caught - inevitably - by wealthy football teams. This isn't 2001 anymore.

Let's go with better team-mates. You finished 7th last year. There's a reason.

If I'm Cesc, I've got to be massively financially induced or there has to be tonnes of birthday cake before I consider that move.

RVP, Rooney, Mata, Hernandez, Kagawa, DDG, *new signings in the summer*, Januzaj, Rafael, Evans, Carrick if LVG can get him back to his form of 2012/2013,. fellaini.

The only area you are comfortably better than us in is CM, and even then that's only really because of Ramsey's brilliance. Wilshere has stagnated massively, Arteta is fairly shocking, Flamini reeks of 'meh'.

If we get Shaw, a winger and another CM to complement Fabregas, our squad walks all over yours.

Current United/Arsenal combo team in the real world: De Gea, Sagna, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Gibbs, Arteta, Ramsey, Ozil, Mata, Walcott, RVP.

Why is United's future particularly exciting, by the way?

Given you've come off the Ferguson era, does anyone see an improvement on that? Even a semblance of maintaining it?

The Wenger era isn't exactly going to last for much longer going by the look of the man, he looks more brittle than Fergie. We'll always be bigger than you, so we'll maintain much more in the long run.

Any new era of a club is exciting, whether that arises from new players or a new manager, especially when you've got a managerial powerhouse like LVG at the helm and not David Moyes.

You wouldn't know because you've been mired in mediocrity and 4th place trophies for so long. The height of your excitement is beating Hull in the FA Cup - in extra time.

Eh? We just finished 15 points ahead of you.

Everybody kicked us while we were down, it's no big achievement with the clown we had in charge. If you think next season will be the same you're seriously kidding yourself.

The stuff coming out of the two of you is just mind-boggling. Ye are a football team that has become nothing more than a 'They'll bottle it'. That and Merson drooling about 'what could have been'.

If you are honestly telling me that a huge name in the world of football would pick the Arsenal over Manchester United, I do not know what to say! If we wanted Ozil, he would be a Northerner!

Ask 100 players from the continent where would they rather go providing they are started (United or Arsenal) and I'd wager 70 will say United. And that's after our horrendous season. Gooners cocky as always but I guess at least this time round they have their shiny FA Cup, barely won against mighty Hull, to show for.

Just as well you preferred Fellaini then.

Arsenal fans are full of it, it's quite funny. We'll see next season.

Calm down. The sell-on clause is also irrelevant. Him regarding Wenger as his "football dad" might certainly play into it, but I'm in no position to make that judgment because I don't know what he's thinking, and neither do you.
I'm not acting like a bruised scouser. Wenger will take Cesc in a heartbeat and the sell-on is key since if we offer £30m it's worth more ti Barca than an offer of £50m from you. Still think you can outbid us?

This season's going to be good.

See if you can narrow the gap to ten.
Just as well you preferred Fellaini then.

Well I didn't prefer Fellaini. A man who was unable to do the job did.

Don't get me wrong Alastair, this massive FA Cup victory is going to push ye on to the treble next year. Ye look to have shifted the dead weight at RB and good riddance! Who needs a quality full back anyways?

One question mate, do you genuinely believe that Manchester United are done?

Eh? We just finished 15 points ahead of you.
Take all both our points from the last 4 years, combine them and compare them. See what happens then.
I'm guessing other clubs just think that we're not as formidable as we once were. You couldn't be more wrong.

A lot of talent.
Lots of money to spend.
A top class manager, possibly with a desire to prove that he's better than Ferguson.

I'm not worried at all.

I don't think United are done but I believe it'll take longer than three months to sort them out and no side will ever rule the league ever again.

Eh? We just finished 15 points ahead of you.

You only improved by 6 points on last season despite smashing your transfer record, finishing as usual in the 70s.

Meanwhile our season has been a complete anomaly as we were led by a clueless manager, and our final tally belies the actual strength of the squad.

How can you be sure it's 50%? Have you read the contract?

No, you're acting like a bit of a spastic. The point I was making is that if Cesc is adamant he wants to come here (I have no idea if he is, but I doubt it) that first option is bull, and the sell on is also irrelevant because at the end of the day it's up to the player. Barca can't force him to move to Arsenal just so they can get a few more quid. You know that as well as I do.

But yeah, I'm pretty sure we can outbid you if we have to. You don't think so?

While I can obviously see where you are coming from, I would have to disagree. We were shambolic at times this season. We also showed signs of United and all of that was without Fergie. We had a pretty amazing Away record with all things considered too.

Our Keeper is among the very best in the world. We have got two of the most promising CB's in Europe - both who are considered worthy for a seat to Brazil. On top of that, we have players like Januzaj, Mata and Kagawa - all behind RvP. Not forgetting Rooney. Giggs is still there also. For arguments sake, we sign Shaw - Hummels - Kroos - Carvalho - Konoplyanka. Add that to the above (with the rest of our squad) and LVG. Are we really fecked?

If Barca are willing to sell then I think it's a matter of persuasion. Cesc is never going to be a fan favourite at Barca even when they're successful, but he's still a legend at Arsenal (or at least remembered fondly.) No doubt he'd be hesitant to throw that away by signing for us.

But if he genuinely felt that Van Gaal was the man to bring success back to Old Trafford, a man that is still well remembered at Barca for laying some of the foundations for what they became, and who no doubt will have left an impression on a young Fabregas, then I think he might be willing to give that all up to be at the heart of a successful United team where the fans would love him. Plus I reckon he still doesn't quite trust Wenger to win anything, no one who played under him in the post-invincibles age could, surely?

Anyhow, I think he'll stay at Barca.

You didn't expect to spend 26 years without a league title nor did Liverpool expect 24 years in the wilderness.

The league has gotten so ridiculously competitive that I do agree that we could spend some time in the wilderness. SAF was a truly special manager.

However, the biggest club in England in terms of revenue and support is Manchester United and one poor season won't change that. We'll win another title sooner than later.

New era and all. The uncertainty. Supporting United will probably never not be exciting for me and a few others. Moyes didn't change that. Not that you could possibly grasp that. Oh and we have a few things to offer, nice ground, decent amount of supporters, some prestige, little bit of money, etc..
