Champions League Semi Finals (9th - 17th May)

I think Madrid will be boosted by the flatness of the emptyhad

Still see city getting through though, unfortunately
As do I see that. City won and scored 4 goals in emptyhad last season and Real Madrid used their home advantage to get them over the line in 2nd leg.

City at home in the CL this season P5 W5 scored 20 and conceded 2.

Only someone who has never watched the champions league before would think this is a done deal
I've been watching it long before it was even called the Champions league mate.

Everyone said the same about the scousers at Anfield and look how that turned out.

Shamefull decisions by referee. Forgiven 2 yellows to Bernardo, Rodri could do everything what he wants he couldnt get booked, not once called for VAR in 3 hand plays, ball was out the line confrimed by beIN technology. Disgracefull, just like supporting oil clubs like City and PSG.

Decent result for City but not ruling out Madrid at all. They’ve got the players that have been there and done it in this competition.

Let's hope Everton can take advantage then. Guardiola would have some massive balls to start the u-15s considering how close the title race still is
No chance he can rest all of Dias, KDB, and Haaland imo given Goodison is a tricky ground for them. I think they're going to be a lot more tired than Madrid in the second leg and the fitness levels will show. City, much like United, are playing way too many games even if they have better squad depth.

Real definitely not out of it. They're more capable of rolling up to the Etihad and winning.

They can't afford a slow start though like last season.

I'd be tempted to put Camavinga in midfield and bench Modric, but I doubt Ancelotti does that.

Unpopular opinion. But I think while City dominated possession and threatened for the first 20 minutes after that RM started getting more control and looked more likely to score. They weren’t dominating possession but their attacks looked more dangerous.

In the second half I think RM could have had 2 or 3.

Overall I think RM played the better match.

Is that unpopular? I feel like City hardly did anything. Madrid were far more threatening all night.

Pep won't be able to resist... He's gonna start KDB as right back and Grealish in goal.

Then he's gonna scratch his bald head and wonder why they lost the match.

City had the better 25 initial minutes, yet Madrid also let them play. In those minutes Erling had a very clear header and a very clear ball by Kevin that he shot it in a very soft way.
After Madrid's goal , Madrid was the better team and later after Kevin's goal City played for the tie and Madrid looked a bit more dangerous.
Vinicius was the MOTM by far, everything he did was correct and a great goal.
City has to risk more in the final third, it's a team that time and again shoot themselves in the their foot for not going for a through ball, a dribble near the area or shooting from outside, in general they have this tendency, the amount of times Halland or Alvarez run throught channels, offer themselves to receive nothing is a bit too much when we see that they have proper players to risk it more in such situations.
Good game overall, the ref should have shown a lot more yellows right at the beginning to stop the tactical fouling from both teams.

City vs Inter in final is in my opinion the most probable.

Inter will win the final with City shoking.

I hope AC Milan Vs Real. A proper historic final. Also for Milan, a great club ruined by leech owners who have overcome it won the league and then to get to the CL final would be an amazing story.

I’m back Milan to win to come through even though Inter have found form

I would hate to see Milan going through after the derby.

I agree though that this would have been a fine final. AC Milan is a bit too weak though i think, especially if they face City in the final. If they face Real Madrid i think they win it.

The way City were getting praised I thought I was watching different match

Played like Burnley and sat back in with 2 banks of 4, whenever Madrid threatened, which was a lot more than City did. I know this has been their style a lot when defending, but it was noticeable how much deeper they sat in this game.

Very definition of parking the bus, Pep is getting cautious, he knows if he doesn't win it this year, he'll probably never win it again. Hopefully he never does.

The individual quality of Madrid players is just something else, quite extraordinary how they keep getting away with it, deserved victory in my opinion.

The work Perez and his team have done behind the scenes since he took over for a second time is really extraordinary. Vini, Rodrygo and Valverde are amazing finds. Rüdiger, Kroos and Alaba came for free and Modric was not that expensive either from what I remember and Carvajal was home grown. I think Courtois is the only "star" ready made player they invested money in and even that was something like 35m. It's a far cry from what he did in his first stint as president. To be fair, though, I think players get even better when they go there. The prestige and sense of being special adds so much mental strength and resilience, not mention freedom to move up a level. The best club for individuals to shine by far.

I mean they did sign Ronaldo (ready made), Bale and Hazard. Ronaldo obviously a success. Bale initially a success but then he started and continued disrespecting the club and doing nothing but earning 600 k per week for years. Less said about Hazard the better.
So they do turn into Woodward from time to time, but their other successful signings have worked very well. And apart from Modric they mostly don’t keep players past their peak.

3 marque signings in 14 years doesn’t really define the policy.

This made me laugh.

1) Camanviga recovered full control of the ball after that, then lost it, it was a new play out of the VAR verification prerogatives
2) Love how they say "indeed" out of play as if it was obvious when their 3D technology (that VAR doesn't have) showed it was a very very close call
3) Unless some camera angle were witheld, french TV said that they didn't have any image that could allow var to rule on this play because they weren't good enough.

Here's the 3D rendering by the way, as I said, VERY close call :

Both teams will be happy enough with that draw and both teams will be confident they can win next week to progress. It is a coin flip honestly.
It’s clearly advantage City being the home team. They’d take this situation anyday - win a home game against this Madrid to meet one of the Milan teams in the final. Madrid needed a win at home imo. Vinicius is our only hope now. Fantastic player.

Yea I get your point, they're still Real Madrid and see themselves as the place where the very best plays but I think I was referring to today's lineup and how good value it is. The other caveat that I think makes replicating them very difficult if not impossible, is just how they are the most attractive destination for so many top players. These free transfers could happen because they are Real Madrid, it's not like Kroos was gonna leave Bayern for any of the other elite teams. The Brazilian and south American players also see them as the place to be so they sort of have a monopoly on certain types of transfers because what they are culturally compatible with the region of the world that produces arguably the most talented players and because what they offer in the CL is unique.

If City do the treble it would take MONTHS for my depression to go away
