Casemiro (out)

Be sad to see him gone really - in terms of his ceiling, he was one of the best (oxymoronic almost) signings of the Ten Hag era. His first season was very good and I kind of think any central midfielder would have been hung out to dry in the doughnut formation of last season and the start of this one.

We should have played two proper midfielders and closed the gaps and I think he'd have been a great option last session and this.

His range of passing and eye for a goal took me by surprise but the legs have clearly started to go and were made worse by the wide open formation we have used

It’s a great deal if it’s true , it was madness to give him that contract at that age knowing there would be a decline.

What’s the price tag looking like for him?
The very strong rumour is they are will in to lay a maximum of €30m(£25m).
So a 3 year contract on £650k per week is £101m contract over the three years plus signing on fee, this means at 35 Casemiro will be set for life.

He’s already set for life, 70 million odd accumulated wealth so far. He certainly doesn’t need to move for the financial aspect being offered.

I don’t agree it was madness at all, he was an important player in building back up our reputation and helping turn our season around when we finished 3rd.
The madness was then not to strengthen after that in central midfield. Cas was always going to have a great chance to move to Saudi when the time came.

Let's not pretend he or any with even nearly similar career achievements need a Saudi transfer to be set for life.

He probably was at 25.

He was a panic buy who was in the autumn of his career. We massively overpaid as usual and gave him a rediculous high salary. . He was great in his first season but legs gone so move on.
Looks like its a done deal. Good luck to him.

Was hoping to see more progress this week - moving him on this month would be one of the best steps forward we could make.

And plenty of fans pointed out it was a dumb idea at the time, only to be shouted down be those who didn't seem to learn from previous wasted transfers on guys winding down.

Give Utd 3 great months in his first season to be fair.

This would be a great move for all parties.

Case will earn a fortune and play in a more suitable league. We would get money to invest in a dynamic midfielder for now and the future. Hopefully it goes ahead.

It's up there as one of our our most obviously stupid signings of the post-SAF era.

Others will ultimately work out as having worse impact, but few are such clear examples of the sort of approach well run clubs don't take.

It was reportedly the transfer that was cited by INEOS as an example of our bad recruitment practices when they arrived, so at least there's a notional degree of awareness in the club

Really thought I was being gaslit by the amount of people who said “ITS feckING CASEMIRO THOUGH!!” as if him being 30 with a shit tonne of miles on the clock wasn’t a thing. Did we not learn anything from schweinsteiger?

Ronaldo, Varane (tough on him as he was good but injuries…) Sanchez ewww, Falcao and probably a few more but I have PTSD about these lads rocking up on mega wages. I think it also took us into the territory of having to offer the likes of Rashford Sancho DDG and Martial stupid deals we’d live to regret

It worked with RVP Evans Ibra and debatable but I just really liked the way Cavani played the game. I wish our other forwards had taken note of his hunger to start and finish moves and put his body on the line.

Forget learning from Schweinsteiger. Offer some people another big name, big money 30 year old and they won't have learned from Casemiro either.

Hopefully Case and Rashford leaving on big wages and sub-par performances will signal an end to our self-destructive practices.

This is bullshit. There is nothing credible out there and even the cash rich Saudi’s aren’t going to give a desperate United a big lump of cash for him. I’ll happily wager that he will still be a United ball and chain come end of the transfer windows this winter.

I reckon a low ball Saudi offer towards the end of the month, which we will have to accept no matter how low the fee is!

Hmm, we don't look to be signing anyone until we've made a few exits due to finances so let's hope something is sorted soon.

He was brilliant until the dodgy red cards. Arguably the best centre mid in the league and played like the 5 times Champions League winner we thought we were buying.

Had we been better run as a club we would have used him sparingly and that player would have stuck around longer. Instead we expected him to carry us every 3 days in a misfiring team and he can't do that at his age.

I wouldn't be against signing him again as long as the rest of the side is working better.

He was good up until we won the league cup. But £60m for 7 months doesn’t seem like a good deal to me

I am not sure why anyone is surprised by this. It was the same in the summer.

We had to sell McTominay to get Ugarte. We had to sell AWB to get Mazroui.

It was madness , panic buying to prove a point we could match up with the big clubs. Insane wages and term of contract for his age.

Generational wealth only United paid him silly wages, he was on nowhere near the same at Madrid however three years in SA will buy him a mid size town in Brazil when he retires and set up his gran kids and their kids for life.

As long as we don't lose anything on PSR and save on his future wages it's a win.

Luiz on load serves a purpose and gives us 6 months to find out if he's the right fit or we need someone else.

If only he had a hunger to start and finish games when he was not playing for Uruguay. In terms of someone using us as a way to get paid to keep fit for International windows he would take some beating.
