Required. Get rid of those wages.
Don't worry. We signed him on a 4+1 deal so we have at least 18 months left on the deal. I saw a tweet that calculated that is worth about £50m in expenditure if we kept him till Summer 2026.January would get us a fee? Summer a free?
January will maybe get us 1m. Summer will get 500k.January would get us a fee? Summer a free?
That's how they roll in oil rich theocracies.I was so confused by the wording of the tweet. The sovereign wealth fund buys players and then assigns them to clubs?
So I looked it up, and all the top teams are either owned by the government, the sovereign wealth fund, or by companies like Aramco who are in turned owned by the government or the sovereign wealth fund. 4 out of the current top 5 are 75% owned by PIF. The 5th (Al Qadsiah) are owned by Aramco which is owned by the Saudi government (90%) and PIF (4%)
But yes, I hope PIF buys Casemiro for one of its teams.
Madrid did us dirty twice in recent years. I wish I could say never again but knowing our board, it will happen again.hopefully he represents the end of our ridiculously stupid transfer strategy of signing old superstars on massive wages who inevitably decline within 12 months of signing.
They're not responsible for our transfer strategy.Madrid did us dirty twice in recent years. I wish I could say never again but knowing our board, it will happen again.

It's only too good to be true if we actually receive any sort of fee for him, if we sell him for peanuts it does nothing for us.Moving him on this winter feels too good to be true. I just can't see how anyone would watch last night's game and want him. Terrible.
I think he'd do well in a slower league with pacier and younger players around him. He's probably also bereft of confidence lately, and the pressures of the PL won't help that. Hopefully the Saudis feel the sameMoving him on this winter feels too good to be true. I just can't see how anyone would watch last night's game and want him. Terrible.

I don't even want to think about how lacking in confidence we are, it's daunting to think about it. The only thing I will say is that his body language looked really down yesterday. You could see it in his eyes after his miss etcWe are paying him a fortune and getting nothing for it. A fee would be great, but I'm at the stage where the opportunity to move on almost any of our squad isn't a bad thing.
Maybe, but how can a multi CL winner be bereft of confidence? And if he is, how does that translate to the younger squad members.
Think of the clubs as franchises. The Saudi government/PIF buys players for them and then allocates them.I was so confused by the wording of the tweet. The sovereign wealth fund buys players and then assigns them to clubs?

You'd be giving the manager even fewer options for the sake of freeing up wages that we can't even use until the summer anyway. I don't see the point in doing that, if we can get 10m for him or something and it lets us buy someone in Jan, then of course it's good, but otherwise I think we should keep him and he'll go in the summer anyway. You have to remember he was playing against a very good midfield yesterday, he could still be useful to rest others against lesser teams. We are paying him a fortune and getting nothing for it. A fee would be great, but I'm at the stage where the opportunity to move on almost any of our squad isn't a bad thing.
It's not about whether Collyer can cover, it's about the fact that he, Casemiro, cannot and at his wage that's not acceptable.Do we want him gone as soon as January? It won’t be one game a week given we’ve got Europa League games as well. We need a backup for Ugarte. If Collyer can cover and do decent, then fine.
It is about if Collyer can cover because we need players for 2nd part of the season (league, Europa League, possibly but unlikely Fa Cup). Casemiro leaving in January is acceptable if we’re getting a fee imo. It's not about whether Collyer can cover, it's about the fact that he, Casemiro, cannot and at his wage that's not acceptable.

I agree - I'm not sure he's capable of playing to the level required of a PL team. He really did look lost yesterday.I just don't think he's a realistic option anymore. Yes, last night was against a decent midfield, but when did he last play well for us? He's being paid a fortune and looks terrible.
If we can get a replacement then absolutely. No idea who that replacement would be as I imagine it will be dependent on the fee we receive for him.Do we want him gone as soon as January? At this point just getting his wages of the books would be a win. His legs are gone and he simply needs to be surrounded by talent to function. It’s much easier to play midfield when you had prime Kroos and Modric to work with.Casemiro is very useful when partnered correctly however not sure this new system suits him. Cash in providing a decent offer comes in.
