Brexited | the worst threads live the longest

Do you think there will be a Deal or No Deal?

  • Total voters

  • Poll closed .
Corbyn always bites, like all protest politicians. He had a chance to show himself a statesman for government but he missed it.

If there is an election where should Labour stand? Go to the EU and negotiate a deal (pointless) or hold a second referendum and campaign for remain?

I'm hoping both. Remain or leave referendum first and then to promise if leave wins they'll negotiate a Labour brexit (and maybe put it against Mays).

The Tories have wanted to do this whole 'Labour wants to cancel brexit' for years but it's not stuck. If they can Labour should try and avoid it sticking now.

Clarke just referred to May as 'Theresa Mao' on Newsnight.

Must we have politicians who are too old to be able to stop themselves from accidentally spouting their in jokes?

My natural reaction would be, "Nah, too far-fetched".

But then there was that story of him doing the same ramshackle speech act at two different award ceremonies.

I understand you but the players have been ready for several months and they still run the play.
There was opposition but Johnson’s core group are still solid.
An election before Brexit keeps Brexit in play and raises Johnson’s profile as a leavers champion alongside Farage.
It’s going to get very dirty.

So he's going through with it. Ken Clarke as well?
Think they have to go through with it
1. They would look further weakened if they didn't
2. Gives them the opportunity to put up candidates who would agree to no deal in the inevitable election to come

I'm expecting quite the speech from Ken Clarke tomorrow from the opposition benches during the debates ...

Indeed. Do you think the government is just going to allow this to become law, then?

Would it matter to them if they did?

They would presumably still go in to the election on a "leave on October 31st, however we have to do it" platform. If they got re-elected on that basis then they presumably have the mandate (and numbers) to overturn the law stopping them from doing so?

Removing the whip from Ken Clarke? Fecking joke of a decision. I hope he decides to change his mind and stand again in the upcoming election just to stick two fingers up at these jokers.

Removing the whip from 21 is too many, especially when many are much liked heavyweights and veterans. Got a feeling they've totally lost it.

If they lose 6.5% of their vote from the public too they are stuffed.

I'm confused. Obviously if they win the election they can do whatever. I'm suggesting they want no deal during the election period but before the vote. Which means they don't have to win an election.

The leave keyboard warriors are having a full-on melt down hissy fit online with comments like "traitors", "my vote didn't matter" etc. They have turned politics into a football match by their hooliganisation of Brexit. No doubt the death threats to politicians who didn't vote the way they wanted and racist comments on ethnic minority MPs will follow soon.

Even if he doesn't, the Ken Clarke supporters could well say feck you to his replacement out of spite.

Just been looking at the casualty list again. 2 former Tory Chancellors of the Exchequer kicked out the party at a single stroke, a former Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, and a shedload of former ministers.

Jesus this was stupid.

Crazy days, an unelected prime minister kicking out the guy who was his chancellor just a couple of months ago is bad enough then you've got the rest.

The worrying thing is the normalisation. What will they push towards next?

It's my Party, and I'll cry if I want to.

A general election and the scum of the earth Lib Dems will win a load of seats back.

I think im going to be sick.
