I agree Marie's not a very 'needed' character. There's just something about her portrayal I find a bit annoying. If she were a Friends character, she'd be Monica. Nobody likes Monica.

hahah yeah true no one does like Monica. I really am in the minority with Marie I think, I could give or take her, she's not particularly a great character and probably wouldn't hinder the show without her. I'd imagine the only real way she will have an impact on the show is if Walt killed her or something and it gives Hank some kind of extra motivation. I always thought they were going somewhere with the shoplifting, nothing really happened in the end though.
yeah I think she was, I think Walt Jr did as well didn't he?

Just started season 3. Loved the second series but the whole thing with Jesse's girlfriend's dad being responsible for the aircraft crash which in turn led to debris landing in the pool seemed really contrived for me.
I honestly doubt it's a misstep, and I'm fairly certain they understood the enormity of what they were doing when writing that scene. I see it more as a metaphoric manifestation of 'look Walt, these are the implications of your acts' rather than anything else.

I'm pretty sure this is exactly what it was. People sat their exectations too high when you see the cold openings and the forensics teams and all that, but Vince Gilligan has always stated that the moral of the story is that actions have consequences, and in letting Jane die when he could so easily have saved her, hundreds of other people died.
Good idea, didn't Lost do similar over here? Think it was on Sky One the night after it was on in America. Did actually stop me downloading it to be fair, thought might as well wait the extra bit of time. Just got a Netflix account so will probably do the same with this.

Same as Game of Thrones and Sky Atlantic, Heroes and BBC did as well but it was shit by the point they did it.
I think companies are clocking on to the fact that people would actually not mind paying a reasonable fee for a good service, but extortionate prices or unavailability will drive people to piracy.

Still need to check out Game of Thrones, only ever saw 1 or 2 episodes but always hear good things.
Yeah I think it's not a bad idea to do it. When you were getting the stuff like Sopranos, 24, The Wire about 6 months after America that was the urge to download it. If it's 24 hours it's hardly the end of the world. Most people would be in work and watch it at night anyway so if it was on TV at 9pm it was worth waiting for it. I'd imagine it doesn't work for everyone but I find it far more convenient watching on Netflix or on the TV than I do having to download it on the Pc

I think it airs about 3 o clock on the monday morning our time, so it doesn't make that much difference.
I still downloaded Game of Thrones when I was at uni because I don't have Sky there and Sky Go has always been awful for me but always watched it on Atlantic when I was at home.
Thirdly: Netflix news - acer. I accidentally let my subscription run on after Arrested Development, so I decided to rewatch Breaking Bad. Now I can never get rid of it.
Fourthly: I have to just come out and say this: Am I the only one who thought the 'I am the one who knocks' speech to be slightly overrated? It's certainly no "I will look for you, I will find you... and I will kill you." Sure, it's a great speech, but I doubt I'd have it in my top 5 BB moments.
Fun new game - list your top 5 BB moments.
5) $672,000. Each. The high five they have here. Dunno why but I really like it. It's like Walt totally shares Jesse's excited state at what they've worked for, and participates in a totally adrenaline-fuelled, uncharacteristic high five. Yeah, bitch.
3) Face Off. Literally, his face came off. "Horgh!!!" Boom. Game over Gustavo.
2) End of Half Measure. I don't think a programe had ever made me shout illegible utterances until this. Out of nowhere. CAR! BAM! Pause. BULLET IN THE HEAD! Pause. "Run." Barhghargfh!
1) End of Crawl Space. Utterly chilling and enthralling in equal measure. Totally captivating. Best TV I've ever seen.
Also in season three when Hank comes back in to the office, goes through this very detailed analysis of why he thinks Fring is Heisenberg, and the guys basically laugh at him about it, and then he decides to pull out the fingerprints from Gail's apartment. Genius.

It's a good quote and a good movie but it's been completely ruined by spastics repeating it over and over and over and adapting it for the purposes of someone stealing their yoghurt or something.
Same is sorta true for the Gladiator one, but less people know it by heart

It was probably the first time he's "transformed" from Walt in to Heisenberg in front of his family in that scene, I'd say it's one of the best parts of the show, but I suppose it's all opinions
5) Mike's death, that's probably my favourite episode, from the start with the "say my name" stuff with Walt but the ending really made it.
4) "Stay out of my territory" in Series 2, everything about that scene was really good I found, the music fit perfectly in the scene, the character again changed like he did in the I am the one who knocks scene (albeit to a random person) and it took the show that bit further after it probably could of ended there really.
3) Gus killing the cartel. Thought Gus was one of the best characters in the show and this just summed it up, everything about him considering what he was about to do was all just calm.
2) Saul when buying the house for Jesse, can't remember name of the episode but the scene where hreveals it's a meth lab and watching the other lawyer in the room realise he's fecked is brilliant to watch.
1) I am the one who knocks, for reasons above really, think it really transformed the character from caring to just not giving a shit really!

I never understood why shows run with like half a year delay in other countries than US really - what's the point? What does anyone actually gain by the delay? The viewers in the foreign countries have no legit way of watching the show during that period, so it's not a matter of any party losing potential revenue (AFAIK). The only thing it does is make people download the show, as you say. It makes much more sense for anyone involved to have the show air shortly after the US showing (or even at the same time) in as many parts of the world as possible. More legit viewers in each country = more subscribers in each country = more money for the network = more money for the American producer, because networks in various countries are willing to pay more. I honestly don't get why it's taken until now for broadcasters to figure this out, but I'm probably missing something.

There has to be some reason for it, probably that the rights go cheaper if they wait. They simply wouldn't wait so long otherwise, and even now, only big big shows seem to get the next day treatment.

Agree with both of these. Say My Name was terrible, cringey as feck.
The main thing I didn't like was Gus walking out after the bomb. I get why they did it but just thought it would have been better had they left it out. The whole ending was still brilliant.

Totally agree with this. I was left thinking briefly "He's survived it!?" Then he died. Then I was left with a lingering feeling of "How the feck did he survive being bombed point blank, to be able to get up, walk out of the room, adjust his tie with half a face, and collapse." Think they were doing it just to show the effect on his face, but I was a little disappointed. That scene should probably have been number 1 on every list. It's actually number 1 on very few.
