Such a great scene, that. Great writing and acting.
Yeah it was too easy, especially for a show that doesn't take the easy route. Still, can't wait to see the final season.Yeah I agree with you, it's plausible I suppose, I just feel it's a bit 'easy'. I'm sure Hank could've arrived to the conclusion some other way. Anyway...
Oh concerning the poison, I think Saul did it. It's very strongly hinted at the beginning of season 5, if I recall correctly.
If you go back to page 13, the theory was discussed near the end of season 4.

The introduction of Saul into this show is a turning into point, he really is a superb character.
rewatching some of the earlier episodes and Skylar really is an insufferable pain from day 1.
She and her sister are both such sanctimonious twats.
Also Hank. What an absolute cock he is.
Yeah he was very frustrating during those episodes with his fecking roc... minerals collection and his attitude towards Marie. But it was pretty understandable from his point of view, and honestly even the annoying characters you can usually completely rationalize their behaviour, no one is black or white.
Hank is a complete cock to Marie when he's injured
Yeah I agree.
I don't like Skyler either but from her point of view her actions are quite understandable. An unplanned pregnancy, a mentally ill son, a husband who has cancer and starts behaving very strangely all the while lying to her and then finding out he's a drug dealer.
I'd forgotten how powerful the scene where Walt let's Jane die was. Absolutely gripping.
The second half of season 2 really is superb.
I've also been thinking that Mike's a bit of an arsehole. We all like him at first; he's really cool and gets people out of trouble. But at no point is he remotely nice. He does his job in the most methodical way possible, showing no emotion to anyone. He'd have happily killed Walt on several occasions.
Amazing isn't it. On my second run I rewatched that scene about five times. It's like the whole process of Season 1 Walt to Season 5 Heisenberg in 30 seconds. Instant reaction to save her life. Then pauses. "Maybe I shouldn't." Then knows exactly what to do. "She has to die." Amazing.
When you look at it all, who's really been happy through this? Walt hasn't been happy. He's getting his way, but it's the best of a bad situation. Skyler's hardly been happy for a full episode. Marie's had to deal with Hank and Hank had to deal with Marie. Jesse lost Jane, his friend, everything (think to his "It's all gone" speech).

I actually quite liked Mike. He didn't always appear nice, but he seemed to at least care for Jesse a tad in season 4 as they started to work together more and more. You could tell as well in S5 that he didn't want to kill the woman with the child at first (forget her name) who eventually helped them, even if he then changed his mind. Struck me as a loyal guy as well at the very least
He didn't give a shit about Jesse; that's the thing. Walt genuinely did/does have loyalty to him. Mike was attempting to make him disloyal to Walt, doing what Fring told him.
And he was only really loyal to Gus. He threatened to break Saul's legs because Saul didn't want himself disbarred.
You think? He hardly cared the world for him, but I think there was a little bit of affection there at the same time. Especially in the episode where Gus was bluffing that he'd have Jesse sold off to the Mexicans as their new cook.
The ironic thing is though, can you blame him for trying to turn Jesse from a viewers perspective? After all, Walt let Jane die, something I didn't hate him for because of how manipulative Jane was, and Walt was responsible for poisoning Brock. Walt may care about Jesse but he's lied to him as well at numerous points and done awful things to people around him.
Yeah, barring that little bit of affection for Jesse he was pretty much a complete sociopath.
Flynn was happy once.

See I've swung the other way, I haven't found her as nearly as annoying second time round. Everything she has done with regards to Walt you would expect her to do.
Plus her rendition of Happy Birthday to Beneke was a huge turn on.
Skylar is a very good character. It's weird, she's a character that is done very, very well, but I don't 'like' her, but not because she's shit. I think the way she turns so cold to Walt is justified with all the lies he's pulling.
The only character I don't really like in any way is Marie. Everyone, I think, plays their part extremely well.

I agree with that about Skylar actually. I think what's interesting about the character is how she kind of goes from the opposite of Walt to an extent. Walt starts off very "dull" in life and satisfied with it where as Skylar (as shown in the flashback, was it S3 or S4 when they buy the house) is all about the American dream and has these grand plans of a brilliant life. When Walt actually finally delivers that lifestyle he wants more which is what Skylar wanted where as she actually seems to be miserable with it all and we've been left on the idea that she actually wants nothing to do with it. They have both kind of transformed in to the others original personality.
Out of interest why does no one seem to like Marie? I don't think she's a great character but she does play her part in the show. I'd probably say she's the character who is probably least needed but then she does provide an extra dimension to Hank's character to show there is more to his life than work, where as at some points the only thing Walter seems to care about is the meth lab.
