Season 4 finale spoilers below, DO NOT OPEN WITHOUT WATCHING THE EPISODE.

Ahh, yeah!!! That was awesome, Gus walking out after that explosion, and then you see his face. It was a good thing they dealt with what/who poisoned Brock. Walt is a mastermind, still don't partially understand how he managed to posion the kid.

Now we gotta wait a whole year for the next/last season.

Kind of saw that coming all the way but was still a very enjoyable finale. Yeah Heisenberg, Yeah Science !!!

Zombie Gus .....

Don't you dare feckin open without watching the finale

That was well worth the social media blackout I had to institute on myself to block myself from spoilers.

Yeah we all kind of saw the ending coming with the stuff we were talking about on the last page of the thread, but I do think that was intended for us with all the clues from before. A two-pronged finish that would satisfy those who figured it out beforehand (the "I feckIN KNEW IT!" effect) and shock those who didn't. I think as soon as the cops said it wasn't ricin I think most of us figured it would play out this way.

And I LOVED the Zombie Gus bit. So goddamn calm until the very end.

But that whole scene starting from the music as Gus is walking into the home followed by the tense buildup followed by Hector's fake pleading look transitioning into menacing triumphant glare followed by the explosion and Gus walking out (when I absolutely lost my shit because I seriously thought that escape artist made it out alive again) and the final reveal of half his face missing (check the episode title) was just full blown awesome.

And the last line spoken in the episode might have been the best line of the entire show up to this point:

"What happened?"
"I won."

I think next season is going to shape up to be a showdown between Walt and Hank with Jesse causing problems after he pieces everything together. The writers did everything they could to take Walt and turn him into Gus and that really sets him up to go nuts next season. If they can pull off the complete transition of taking a central character that everyone loves and sympathizes with and turn him into the monster everyone wants to be killed, then it just might be the coolest character progression I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing on a tv show.

Overall this season started off with a bang and then we had to sit through a few buildup episodes but it was all worth it in the end. It was the first season I watched weekly rather than all at once and I probably looked forward to this show more than to any other shows I've watched in the past.

For feck sake, I still have no internet in my new house so I can't watch this. I just know it's going to be immense too.

Also don't know if this was intentional but someone on Reddit posted this:

(same disclaimer as before. DON'T feckIN OPEN THIS without watching the finale)

The teddy bear is flipped though, but still.

Yeah the IGN review pointed out a few more things:

This was an awesome episode. There was so much symbolism. Gus' face being half-burned off looked a lot like the inverse of the half-burned pink bear from Season 2. The oranges in Don Salamanca's room vs. the oranges in Ted's house when Ted clunks his head against the cabinet (vs. the use of oranges in The Godfather). Gus switching from his yellow (professionalism) business shirt and tie to his blue (power) suit just before he met with Salamanca. The look in the eyes of Salamanca. The wonderful use of color in this episode - including nearly everyone wearing a green shirt. There is a mountain of stuff to uncover from this season.

Also:

Interesting to see that Gus scene took MONTHS to get right.

Also possible speculative answer to one lingering question (the guys at /r/breakingbad are sharp as feck)

DON'T OPEN THIS

How did Walt poison Brock? He didn't directly do it. But who's been shown giving Brock candy before?

I like that people have to be told not to open spoilers........-_-

next time go to wikipedia, and find the episode list of whatever show you are currently watching, it will tell you when each show is aired. With that you can compare each episode with the date of the post.

ie. Breaking Bad, Episode 13, airs on October 9th (October 10th for those across the Atlantic), so any posts on October 10th+ will most likely be about the latest episode.

wiki link (SPOLIERS ARE IN THIS LINK, FOR EVERY EPISODE):
Breaking Bad (season 4) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (SPOLIERS)

Good thinking. Not a bad idea, that.

Would also help out tardy gimps like me if people put an "Ep X" in each spoilered post.

Saul

Reddit is awesome, some guy drank his own piss because he made a bet saying that walt didn't poison Brock.

That was such a terrific finale, I shouted out loud when I thought Gus had survived! It occurred to me that in most shows Jessie and Walt would have embraced at the end but all you got was a handshake, this wasn't your usual American drama.

Fantastic stuff. My head was on the verge of blowing up when I saw Gus walk out but then slightly wish he didn't die after he fell to the ground. I did think Walt poisoned the kid/had a big part in it. Loved the last line of "I won".

Interesting to see what they do with Walt next season

The last two episodes were very very good indeed.
The show will miss Gus

It will be interesting to see how the next and final series goes. I hope they show it as 1 x 16 episode series and not in a 2 x 8 episode format as rumored.

1) Will Walt continue his transition from amiable High School teacher to drug lord? I'm guessing that he will. Will Walt take over Gus's empire or part thereof?
2) If so how will this impact his wife and son?
3) Hank and the DEA must surely be involved very heavily in some way.
4) How will Walt and Jesse's relationship develop?
5) The cartel didn't want to kill Gus even early in his drug career. Why? And will this be part of the final series?
6) Mike could be a wild card.
7) The storyline with Ted and the tax authorities may or may not be finalised.

Will the Germans come into this at all? Just a theory but I can't see Walt taking on another organisation.

The 5th series is all down to Walt, Jesse, Hank and Mike

Germans?

Madrigal Electronics operating out of Hannover, Germany held the holding stake in the chicken shop as well as manufacturing the air filters for the meth lab

OR Gus set that up as a front, its an angle for now!?

I doubt it. Wasn't brought us as a big enough thing

Just remembered the woman in her room when Walt was hiding behind the window

Hello? Hello.....Hello?

I doubt it. Wasn't brought us as a big enough thing

True. But the Germans could be the remnants of the Pinochet government who have relocated wanting to find out how a palsied man, incapable of doing anything but ringing a bell, was able to rig up a bomb when his entire family and organisation were dead.

Assuming Madrigal holdings is part of Gus' background and that it was indeed Pinochet dodginess. We have a year of speculation:D

The creator said from the beginning that the goal was to turn Mt Chips into Scarface. I think the transformation is more or less complete now or will be in another 8 episodes and then we will see the downfall.

Here is what will happen IMO

- Mike come back

- He is initially angry at Walt but eventually he gets Walt to take Gus's place and run the whole drug business. Do not forget there is now a big vaccum with both cartel and Gus gone.

- Focus next season will be Hank vs Walt IMO with Jesse as a wild card

Jesse stopped with the Mr White and referred to him as Walt. Don't know if that hit anyone else but was kind of a big deal to me

I thought the blurred fade in of the Chicken logo in Gus's car was a nice piece of directing.

The last 4 episodes were really brilliant, and the finale as a whole - Superb.

Hank will play a big role next season, but Walt should always be one step ahead.

fecks sake!!!!, I've been driving all over the last few days, have it downloaded and ready to watch tonight with the mrs, tell me was it good?

it was top class. these arent the dexter writers building you up to let you down bro, these are good writers.

One of the best things about this show is how it balances drama with comedy. Even in a tense and dark Finale, we got moments like;

Walt walking out of the elevator and the bag with the bomb in getting stuck to the elevator door. Him being blackmailed by honey tits and when he tries to leave the office, slipping and banging his head on the door. The old woman saying "hello" to him. Hector's messages to the DEA. Gus adjusting his tie before dying.

Dexter writers have never let me down.

Amazing season, its hard to think of a better show when you look at all 4 seasons together.

For me its never had an angle I did not think was perfectly done and always great to watch.

Even the Wire and the Sopranos had a few low points

Epic!

I can't think of a better season ending than that one for any show of that ilk.

Mike has got to be in the next season, one of my favourite characters.

I agree with Easy V a couple of posts up. Great blend of comedy and suspense.
