Break the bank for Pato

He looked very fast at times, beat Evra a few times as well, that said didnt really have any chances that were that good surprisingly, although he was in and out of it and more out for the most part.

He had a great chance to score from a free header, courtesy of Evra. He's very fast and would be a great buy for us.

I'm surprised Leonardo didn't play him instead of Huntelaar, probably will the next game if Boriello doesn't come back.

Impressed by Pato lastnight, know he wasn't a game changers though think he showed enough for most to agree he is turning into some players and one destined for the top.

If vidic is determined to leave maybe a vidic + cash deal for pato might be worth a cheeky mention. Great teams are built from the back though not sure leonardo would sanction such a move :wenger:

Pato will definitely be a World Class player.. His Finishing, Dribbling and Pace are simply outstanding features in his game to name a few.. I was listening to the commentary last night and Andy Gray & Martin Tyler were very upset with the fact that Leonardo is not encouraging Pato to do his defensive duties.. He was saying the same thing about Ronaldinho but we know how that is never going to happen.. They were saying Pato being so young should be made to do his defensive duties and gain more overall discipline in his game..

I couldn't agree more.. How do young aspiring world class players not realise they need experienced world class managers to manage them.. How the hell does he think Leonardo will get him to where he needs to be? Leonardo is learning management himself..

I don't think the board would sanction such a move out of fear for their personal well-being because the Milan fans would go absolutely ballistic if Pato was sold. It's almost like us selling Ronaldo (like they sold Kaká), then not spending the money (as us and them haven't really) and then the following summer selling Rooney (Pato equivalent) to another top European club. Their fans would want bloody revenge.

I totally agree with what you have said but what if the player himself asks for a move? They will have no choice but to sell him.. I am just saying it hypothetically I know Pato is not going to ask for a transfer anytime soon..

Yeah I suppose their hand will be forced then, and even the fans would understand the board's decision to sell him to an extent. But that is a big hypothetical as you say, because Pato is very unlikely to ask for a move anytime soon. If/when he does, there will most likely be a whole host of clubs after him

He has frightening pace, he's on the brink of being amazing. When he's older, he'll be absolutely fantastic.

As much as I would love to see him here. I just dont see it happening. He's the only player in the milan squad now for which Milan can bleed a club dry and they certainly will when the time comes. Sir Alex wont pay over the top. Besides we dont even know if he rates him enough.

Only city or madrid could afford him.

Could Pato really refuse a Walkers 24 bag variety pack AND a signed pair of Gary Neville's boots?

I know I couldn't.

Midget? He's not huge, but I would hardly call him a midget. He's 179cm (according to wiki) which is a pretty average height.
He's quite light as well, unlike other "stocky" forwards like Rooney and Caveman. Which is why he does get eaten up by defenders in a straight jumping contest. Where he excels is getting into good positions so he never loses headers - that header where he got in front of Evra is an example.

His heading is one of his killer skills though - he has a Torres-like comfortability while heading the ball. While most forwards head the ball with only some accuracy preferring power, Pato is one of those capable of placing the ball where he needs it with ease.

His pace is better though - he's more of an "irritating" forward with pace and movement rather than sublime skill and trickery which Scholesy no doubt loves. He'll become a really good striker doubtless but I do think he needs to leave Milan to achieve that goal.

Scholesys post on page 4 is back again, after it was gone yesterday.

Can a deleted post be undeleted?

Or was he ghosted?

We have money in the bank?

News to me.

Course we do.

His first touch is rubbish.

Again, the excitement of some South American with a great name, youtube compilations, who has pace and is young, gets in the way of seeing that the player is actually not that talented.

See Anderson.

Sigh...

Thought Pato was good last night, though I've seen him play better. Me thinks he'll turn out to be a Torres-ish sort of player, albeit a little more skilful.

I know your just taking the piss but in all fairness to GB this thread was made in November.. It was just bumped recently..

Well a Mod/Admin can do that without much hassle..

Berbatov, a walkers 24 bag variety pack and Neville's Signed boots for Pato.

We'd be over-paying there to the tune of 12 bags of cheese and onion and one of Neville's boots, he's not quite Diouf yet is this Pato lad.

Is Pato on the Menu?

Donaldo Alexandre Pato.

What a name eh?

He's the best young striker out there at the moment, so it's inevitable that all the top clubs are after him. I doubt we have the money unless we offload Berbatov and maybe another player, but I think he can be bought for £40 million.

There's no point in us signing him because he didnt wanna go anywhere near a tackle last night. He shit out of every 50/50 because he knew Evra would make sure he took man and ball.

Pato must me Brazilian for fecking fairy.

Screw Modric, Screw Pato, we've got Diouf.

Understandably so as he just got back from a "long" injury. It's not that easy to throw yourself into the action as if nothing happened

In Italy they call him il papero, ie the duck. Ferdinand be called the Brazilian if played in the Serie A. ;)

Was impressed by him on Tuesday, and have been for while.
One bit of skill he did on Evra in the second half made me spit out my beer, it was class.

Pato's greatest assets include his technique and first touch. Whether the ball is behind him, on his shoulder, or where ever, he controls the ball brilliantly.

Wasn't impressed with him at all against us. Thought he looked very average and was well and truly shackled by Evra.
