Break the bank for Pato

As I said before the game, Pato is a headless chicken.

Whats the big deal with this guy?
He's much less effective on the wing. It's not really his fault there's only one striker he can play off in a 4-4-2 (Borriello) and that Milan don't have the wingers to play 4-4-2 (or they would have to drop Ronaldinho). He's also not fully fit.

He's got absolutely bags of potential, its there for all to see. If we could get him, sign him. Beast of a player with beautiful skill and technique. He's just not being taught the right way.

He's got immense potential this lad. Shame he has to be at Milan at this time of his career.
Really starting to wonder how long he's going to stay at Milan if they keep going sideways and have gone for a while. He's under contract until 2012 - will Milan be forced to sell him at the end of next season?

'course, we'll be skint by then and we'd be looking at signing Beckford and Nugent instead.

His first touch is rubbish.

Again, the excitement of some South American with a great name, youtube compilations, who has pace and is young, gets in the way of seeing that the player is actually not that talented.

See Anderson.

Pato was brilliant in flashes. Beat Evra for fun on more than one occasion. If he had been playing centrally in place of Huntelaar, I'm not sure we would have won.

He scored 18 goals last season and has a near 1-in-2 goals per game ratio despite playing the majority of his games on the wing. He's a midget but wins a solid number of headers and his heading technique is really good. He's really quick and his dribbling is good with that pace. He just lacks a general consistency to his game and is not at his best on the wing.

Scholesy, you're making a habit of having crazy ideas about football and football players.

Pato will be world class. More so than Modric will ever be.

Ferdinand would have eaten him up. Pato cannot lead the line alone - Milan tried last season and he wasn't impressive there. Not surprising because he's a midget. He needs someone to occupy defenders because he cannot beat defenders alone.

Sometimes you really do step up to the plate to live up to your reputation as a massive spastic.

He was good in brief moments, failed to leave a mark on the game even with our
crap defence.

I still dont know why he signed that contract last season. Milan have been decline for a long time now. Should really be looking to move if he wants to head into the right direction.
Milan have zero stability as a club right now with a manager who's yet to make his mark. Much less one who can groom prospects like him.

He wont go to the WC so his value wont skyrocket this summer. Reckon we could move for him if Sir Alex wants to.

But Milan have little to no prospects besides him. He's the only one bringing the average age of the squad down a notch.

What a load of crap. Was that the first time you've ever seen him play? He's been out for about 6 weeks and this was his second game back.

You're not even worth debating with.

Wouldnt read to much into tonights performance, that was his first start in over 2 months, hes only just come back from a long injury lay off and everyone knows hes never going to be at his best on the wing anyway.

Hes a great talent.

Agreed. Unfair to critise him tonight after being out for so long. I haven't watched much of Pato, but his touch seemed very secure at times tonight.

Yeah he beat Evra for fun and not just with pace like some in the past, but through genuine skill and clever turns. He probably would be dynamite next to the current Wayne Rooney. Sure, neither of them have great size but they both do very well in the air these days.

Pato's got a good physique and and a good leap. Theres a lot to work with there, in terms of his hold up play.

Funnily enough, I think he'll become a player with a good mix of Torres, Rooney and Drogba. The hold up play of Drogba (providing he works on it) the pace and skill of Torres and the power of Rooney.

Couldn't agree more. He needs better coaching to get there and its doubtful that will happen at Milan.

He will never have the hold up play of Drogba, I guarantee that. Torres and Rooney? Lets see. Its there for him if he works hard.

I'm not saying his hold up play will be as good as Drogba's, in fact i'm not saying that his qualities will exactly match Rooney, Torres or Drogba at all, but that he will have these qualities as he gets better with age.

Alright. But Drogba really is something else with his hold up play. The amount of chances he creates for supporting players just using his chest to bring down a high ball and put it into their path is just silly at times. Such a huge thing to provide for your team on the attack especially with players in the team like Lampard who can smash it in from just outside the box.

Agreed, there wont be a player with Drogba's hold up play for a long time. If he only he could play for us, Rooney and Drogba up front

He's been very consistent since last season I think.

Pato will never be able to hold up the ball even as well as Rooney - he's not that type of player. He's far too quick and direct.

The best way of describing Pato would be how Arsenal players envisioned Walcott would become - and then some. And Pato can get even better. But we'll never see him at his best on the wing or holding up the ball.

I think he has the ability to be the best striker in the world in the not too distant future. He has everything required apart from the consistency in his finishing at the moment and as for people calling him a midget he's about 5 foot 11 and good in the air

Would rather see Diouf given the chance as it seems they have a lot of the same attributes and we sign a Hamsik or gourcuff.

Midget? He's not huge, but I would hardly call him a midget. He's 179cm (according to wiki) which is a pretty average height.

He looked very fast at times, beat Evra a few times as well, that said didnt really have any chances that were that good surprisingly, although he was in and out of it and more out for the most part.
