Television Better Call Saul | Includes Breaking Bad Spoilers

I don't think Mike ever does beat the shit out of anyone? He's just really smart and knows how to get things done. I do agree it's kind of silly that he looks older but it's TV, get over it like.
he regularly beat the shit out of people in BB.

Chuck is also a shit, annoying character.

While I fully agree, I think he's that kind of shit, annoying character some programs have by design. They want you to hate him so they pick someone who is already irritating and amp up the irritation even more to the point where they really piss you off, which in a way enhances what they're trying to achieve with the character.

Skyler was a bit like that as was Joffrey and Pete Campbell in Mad Men.

Janice Soprano.

I'm open to correction here, but when? He beats Walt up in the bar once with a sucker punch and a few kicks to the ribs, but other than that, name one time he beat the shit out of someone. I can't remember any off the top of my head.

His whole thing is that he gets things done in smart ways due to his years of experience.

Mike generally employed intimidation rather than physical violence, and aside from giving Walt that beating he generally uses a gun. Sorry, pistol.

I actually liked that episode. The last two have been enjoyable but i wish they employed some more humour like the last episode especially with Jimmy.

Yeah it's bad and a bit sad how old Mike looks now. Couldn't they have done a better job with his make-up?

Also wouldn't it have made more sense to make Better call Saul a sequel rather than a prequel? Im more interested in his life in the present

Working at Cinnabon?

You really wouldn't be, it would be him going to work at a bakery, then going home reminiscing about the past. If they did a sequel with Jesse, that would probably be more interesting.

Yeah but what I'm saying is, he has only been given that because they made it a prequal.

If they had decided to make it a sequal from the planning, he obviously wouldn't be working at a Cinnabon. He'd be doing something awesome in Mexico

But he went into protection at the end of BB, and they said then that he was going to Nebraska iirc.

It still would have been easy enough to write around I think. Anyway it's all moot now obviously. I just don't find it as fun knowing he can't die or anything.

There's always the possibility that a later season of Better Call Saul picks up the storyline after Breaking Bad. I could see an ending to a BCS season leading up to Saul's first meeting with Walt, then the events of BB happen and finally BCS picks up afterwards in the next season.

I think it will happen, especially with the first scene from the first episode. Would be a good way to do it, before BB, during BB and then after BB.

Yes. I like that idea. Have to say that Saul was my fave character in BB and I think Bob Odenkirk is perfect in the role. The more they do the better imo so a Saul based BB sandwich would certainly work for me!

Much better ep. Slowly moving the "Jimmy becomes Saul/Mike becomes Mike/Tuco's henchman turns against him" plots forward, even though they're all plots they should've dealt with in S1, and which we already know the end games to. Still, definitely more enjoyable this week I felt.

Is it just me or does anyone think Kim Wexler is smoking hot? I just don't know what it is about her?

I tend to agree. Although her voice is a bit odd!

Good episode though, I like the way this series is heading. Bring on next Tuesday

Latest episode not bad at all.
The Jimmy Ad story is dragging on a bit but the Mike storyline moving in the right direction. Guess they can't afford to progress on all fronts too quickly as there's only so much story in this.

Yeah she talks through her nose so she sounds a bit odd.
Enjoyed that episode too. That little grin Mike gave Tuco, "is that all you got?" before he smacked him one made me laugh.

Had to pause and stare at Crazy 8 for a good five minutes before I remembered who he was.

That was good, I like Nacho as a character.

I'm actually getting a bit fed up of the Breaking Bad nods and Easter Eggs, despite it being a Breaking Bad spin-off. Mainly because it detracts from what's happening as I think "who's he" or "oh yeah I remember that".

Still, I do think there's a fundamental problem when the side character's plot is far more engaging than the main character's. And I hate every scene Chuck is in.

Agreed about Nacho, seems to be an interesting and likable character.

I'm really not very good at picking up on some of the Breaking Bad hints though - I didn't even realise that was Krazy-8 in the latest episode until now :nervous:

I'm enjoying the references tbh, mainly that's because I'm not picking up on them all during the episode and it's only afterwards that I realise, so I can enjoy the story on screen instead of being distracted. I think they've all been quite subtle and in line with the story.

I also get annoyed during the Chuck scenes - not because I hate the scene per se but just because I hate Chuck's condescension towards Jimmy. I wanted Jimmy to smother him in his stupid F'in foil blanket in the last episode - not sit there acting as his carer through the night!

I agree the Mike story is much better than the Saul/ Jimmy story as a whole. I do like this season more compared to the last one has it seems to have more purpose around it.

She looks like a girl I was in school with who recently lost a leg in a traffic incident in Thailand. So yeah.

 If they can make everyone that appeared in Breaking Bad look young enough for it to make sense, then why not Mike?

Pretty poor episode.

I do think Mikes story is the best. Hector did look pretty damn young, they did a good job with him.

But I feel like stuff is happening, without it actually happening. Its a weird show in that way, but I really do think it needs more elements of humour towards it.
I feel its getting a lot of leeway due to the fact its a BB prequel of sorts.

It was easier with Hector because he was made to look older than he really is in BB rather than them having to make him look younger now.

That episode was pretty crap. I don't care about Kim Wexler.

Kim Wexler sometimes looks alright but other times she looks about 80

EDIT: I also don't care about her

Terrible episode. They're really taking the piss with this show now. Barely had Saul or Mike in this episode. Slow pacing can work with suspense but that's out of the question with a prequel.

Slow episode, not sure we needed the 20 minute montage of Kim phoning people and getting huffy about it.
