Ayden Heaven

These kind of signings are a must, we need to be making a lot more of them.

If they make it then we save a massive fee, if they don't it's low risk and in most cases can be sold for profit.
I love these type of signings even if they don't bare fruit for a few years

By the way, as a club, we have really struggled to produce top class centre backs through the academy probably ever since Marin Keown & Tony Adams.

If you are looking for a top class centre back, should probably raid Chelsea, not Arsenal!

Maybe we just want to make sure it stays that way?

We've had the same issue - since Jonny Evans I think? Maybe Michael Keane can count.

I'd like to think we've pin pointed this particular player than just raid Arsenal for the a sake of a coup.

I'm talking about players that were in the Academy at all. Looking at the names, your probably talking about someone like Kyle Bartley as having the best career...Johan Djourou if you count him?

It's really poor when you actually thing about it. Im someone that still likes to look out for academy players with no ill will, I hope Heaven does well, I'm just about old enough to remember always wanting Andy Cole to do well.

Contract is up in the summer and he's not signing a new one. Similar situation to Obi-Martin.
Contract runs out in the summer

They aren't..

lets look at it another way - why is he leaving a decent club to come to this shit show?
If Arse are not giving him what he wanted , lets say first team football - and we are, what do they know that we dont?

If he is "that" good why have Arsenal not given him a new decent offer.

We have been loading up on promising youths for a while now, they could really kick off in about 2 years - good thing we all have plenty of patience left :p

Arsenal play two centreback positions and given his left footedness he's probably only got one slot to go for, which is a partner in a league challenging back four. At United there are two defenders slots and midfield he can slot into.

United also rotate defenders much more.

That statement makes no sense. Why did United let Pogba go? Players leave for myriad of reasons

My apologies, Ayden is 1.89m.. I believe Kukonki is around 1.96m. This is good because United need more physicality

Kukonki isn’t that tall either. Close to the size of Heaven.

United is going through major changes which open opportunities. Arsenal is relatively stable.

He's only 18 so being a cover for Martinez right now sounds unlikely to me but hopefully he can get there in 2/3 years or so.

Have it your way - he's shit mate. Ends that.

At Arsenal he'd be trying to disrupt one of the best CB pairings in Europe. It's like when Pique left - he knew he'd never get a chance while Rio & Vidic were playing.

At United, not only is he competing with worse players - it's also a back three. Loads more chance of breaking through here.

Edit: Also, in Amorim's system, the CBs have a lot more ball progression responsibility - so I guess that appeals to the lad's apparent wish to be a more advanced player.

50% More chance to be precise.
Heaven likes those odds.

I agree with you that there's probably no clear path through for a CB at Arsenal unless you are Maldini respawn.

He said he wants to keep clean sheets and bring more goals to his game from set pieces. He can’t be that good at getting on the end of them otherwise he’d fit straight in at Arsenal since they rely on set piece goals.

Not sure if its been mentioned but this is the guy that Hojlund spinned at the half way line and left for dirt in pre season. Doesnt mean anything but my heart sank a little when i figured it out

Dowman has just turned 15 and been playing U18 football since he was 13. He's been training with the first team for a few months now, an attacking midfielder, left footed, already a good size, many think he's the best we have in the academy currently. However, always with that caveat that many were massive on Charlie Patino.

Sounds impressive especially so young. Thanks for the info.

Its why we are signing him, to give Hojlund a confidence boost in training.

Bit surprised at this one to be honest, people are likening it to the Obi Martin signing but Chido was the best striker of his age group in the country, no disrespect to Heaven but he’s nowhere near that talent bracket

Ayden you’re all that we want,
When the Stratford end is so charmed,
I’m finding it hard to believe,
We signed Heaven.

I’ll get my coat…

Based on those clips he has good technique. That is enough for me.
I am not demanding fan;
player has technique = good enough
player doesn't have technique = not good enough

Yeah, he's really not in the same talent bracket at all.

I think Heaven does have potential but he's extremely raw for a CB. Up through the 22-23 season he was still playing U16 football, mainly as a midfielder, he wasn't a player that was fast tracked into higher age groups. The club then shifted him into central defense and the rumor is that this decision caused a lot of friction. At CB he has obvious potential between his physical attributes and at least decent ball playing ability but he has also been known for making a lot of mistakes.

Its probably one of those situations where the positional move was right for his long term future - I don't think he really has the technical level to be a midfielder - but at the same time it put him into a position where there was next to no pathway at Arsenal given Gabriel, Calafiori, and Kiwior are there as left footed CBs who are all relatively young.

He really should spend a couple seasons bouncing between U21 football and loan spells at United. More than anything, he needs a long run of games playing CB to just learn the position better. The idea that he will contribute to the United first team right away doesn't seem realistic.
