Ayden Heaven

I heard the news,
We've got Heaven,
Godwill and Heaven on our team,
GLORY!
We're marching onwards to victory,
GLORY!
Glory Glory Man United
As the reds go marching
On! On! On!

This is the second player we have signed from Arsenal academy this season. Are Arsenal just bad at retaining these guys or are these players looking at our first team and think they can easily breakthough ?
Think it's a combination of both. We've had quite a few youth products feature for the first team and for most it's a pretty clear pathway.

Actually, that was my question. The tweet from academyscoop said we are getting him as a back up for Martinez. You also mention that he is a CB prospect. However, a couple of my buddies told me he played midfield for the youth teams and didn't like when Arteta tried to convert him into a CB for the first team. The reason he is leaving Arsenal is to play in the midfield.
Aye Fin Stretford Paddock think he is coming straight in to the first team as a squad player

Thats our first team, and I doubt it anyway. But even if its true then that has nothing to do with Arsenal's first team. Chido has spent most of this season playing u18s for us, he wouldnt have been playing in Arsenal's first team either

So its ridiculous to even suggest that Arsenal are a feeder club when we arent even signing their first team players

Whats ridiculous is you thinking I was being serious about them being our feeder club.

Was the defender who got done by Hojlund. Didnt remember that it was by him... Of course hes 18 and Hojlund is older but yeah, would go into the u21s imo dont believe the first team stuff

Looks quick and good on the ball. Exciting prospect. Nothing negative should be said about getting a highly rated 18 yr old from Arsenal. Same with Chido - he’ll get in the team when he gets in the team. No time frames needed to be given.
I’m pleased the club are making signings like these and Dorgu - probably forced by our financial situation

I don't think we push the boat out to keep academy players unless they are seen as the 'jewel in the crown' type player ie Nwaneri.

It's a difficult thing to balance, how much you are willing to go to get these players to sign, what the ripple affect of that will be for the next renewals etc.

Competition at that level is fierce, the likes of Chelsea and City pay more than we do, they were all over the likes of Nwaneri. I'm not sure if Utd pay more than us to guys like Chido, we can only speculate. Perhaps, like the rumour is, a player like Heaven becomes disillusioned by the role change, whereas someone like Lewis-Skelly is more open, especially as he's seeing more first team minutes? Or he just simply sees a better pathway at Utd.

Each case is individual preference. And ultimately, most of these guys don't actually make it at the very top level at the end of the day. Then they become pawns in the PSR game these days unfortunately.

In the age of PSR, there's a good chance we're doing a Chelsea and signing on young cheap talent and flipping them in a few years to allow us fund our actual transfer targets.

If he didn’t want the move back to CB at Arsenal it seems strange that we’ve earmarked him in the same spot. If he wants to play in midfield then surely he’d move to a team that promised to develop him there

Højlund is older, but only 2 years. Heaven did not look good in that situation.
